Chapter 1: Discovery

Chapter Text

Bonnie took a few careful glances left and right before he ventured out from his hiding spot. He wasn’t sure what exactly would happen if he was caught, but the consequences would most likely not be very pretty. He’d been an artful dodger and a mindful wanderer to avoid the eyes of any staff or person within the Pizzaplex. Even if it meant sitting idly all day behind stage or ducked out in a less than comfortable hole, he wouldn’t be caught.

Gregory also checked in with him every once in a while. He’d go check if the coast was clear and what not, so it wasn’t all Bonnie’s guile. He had a little bit of help.

Today wasn’t any different. He just needed to stay completely unseen until the people left. The night guard, Vanessa, paid him no mind, so he roamed freely with the others. Usually, towards closing, he got more leniency with his tactics. He didn’t have to worry about as many people hanging around and some of the staff had already left.

What everyone forgot to tell him that today was maintenance, and the maintenance staff would be there at closing and into the night.

So he ran through what was USUALLY an empty space and was spotted by three of them.

As soon as Bonnie noticed them, he tried to duck down. In a desperate attempt to make them think it was their imaginations, he clambered to get to the nearest object. Unfortunately, it didn’t work.

“Stanford, you see that rabbit animatronic?” a female voice asked, setting her hands on her hips. “Isn’t that the one we discarded like.. three years ago? Did they bring him back? He looks pretty jacked up.”

“Nah. He’s still decommissioned. Must’ve come back online, but I thought we had that alligator tear him apart too bad for that. I dunno, we just kinda chucked him in a back room after,” the other man replied.

“I remember someone saying they saw Freddy hanging out with another figure in the cameras! Maybe the animatronics put him back together? They’re just a bunch of bolts, though,” the third staff member added.

Bonnie was still trying to process what the second guy said. Monty was the only alligator he knew. Had… had Monty destroyed him? No. He wouldn’t do that.

“They’re smarter than you think,” the female staff member chimed. “Still, can’t have him roaming around. Somebody grab him up and we’ll deal with it. Send the message to all the staff.”

Bonnie shrieked, being forcibly ripped out of his thoughts of betrayal. He turned heel, sprinting down the hall to the dismay of the staff behind him. There was no more time for hiding. He’d been spotted.

He couldn’t go back. Not now. Not when everything had been sorted out, they’d fixed him, life was ACTUALLY going as he wanted it—

He couldn’t go back to that dark room. He didn’t want to be ripped apart again. Especially if…

Monty. Surely Monty hadn’t done it on his free will. They probably forced it in his programming.

“Get back here, dumb bunny!” one of the staff shouted. They ran at his exact speed, so they weren’t able to catch up.

Shit. This still wasn’t good. Where was Freddy? Where was anyone?

And then the cards all fell. Bonnie’s foot got caught on a loose card, sending him right on the ground. He was stronger than the staff. He could fight them off, surely—

“Millie, you still got that shocking device from when you worked on the animatronics?”

After a hushed noise of agreement, Bonnie tried to scramble up. But his body was overcome with intense electrical current, scattering his already weak systems and making every thought he had useless. He couldn’t move. He couldn’t even scream.

As everything had been damaged, the staff stood over him. He could just faintly see their outlines, but he couldn’t even speak to them. He wanted to beg and plead for them to just leave him alone— he had done so much to get here. Why couldn’t they just let him live his life?

“He was always my daughter’s favorite,” the staff member, whose name hadn’t been spoken, murmured. “I think they should keep him around. Maybe give him less sentience,” he shrugged.

“Tell that to the big boss,” the female voice, or Millie, responded. “I mean, just fix up his casing and do some reprogramming. You could take his thoughts and everything right out pretty easily.”

“Huh. Sounds like a good deal to me,” the first voice, Stanford, said plainly. “Be better than scrapping him. A lot of people still miss him.

His head was flipped over suddenly, cutting off the little vision he had. He felt the backplate of his head be screwed off.

‘Don’t touch me,’ he wanted to cry out, but nothing would work. He just wanted Freddy to come save him from these jerks. He wanted—
