Chapter 1: #01 Accidental Kidnapping
Chapter Text
Sakusa Kiyoomi, 16. Miya Shouyou, 15. Not completely strangers.
548 words
Kiyoomi blames his brain’s malfunctioning from the 8 hours and 10 minutes of travel just to play volleyball. Masochists, all of them. Otherwise, why else would he hallucinate Miya Shouyou sleeping in their bus at his seat, without a care in the world?
Kiyoomi takes a step back to reel everything in. Two days ago, Itachiyama’s VBC woke up at the crack ass of daybreak to ride a bus to Hyogo. It was for a joint training camp with Interhigh’s top three teams so they can prepare for the Spring Tournament. They then played rallies in Inarizaki’s court, practiced to hone their skills further, slept in cramped spaces designed for sweaty teenagers, practiced again, then ate a fuckton of grilled meat before giving thanks to some deity out there. Kita-san could be very persuasive, Kiyoomi notes.
Shouyou stirs, and Kiyoomi almost feared that the younger boy would wake up. He didn’t know why he was scared meeting those molten gold eyes he had always come across within court. Daring. Adorable. Dangerous.
“Is something wrong, Sakusa?” Iizuna calls out from below the bus steps.
“N-nothing.” Kiyoomi didn’t also know why he was lying to his captain.
“Then move.” Komori groans, pushing him further into the bus.
“Wait-!”
Kiyoomi lunges forward, finally ready to inform everyone of his, well, their current predicament. Kidnapping was already a heinous crime in itself and much more when it's the Miya twins' precious baby brother.
Unfortunately, his weary teammates had already melted in the comfort of their seats before Kiyoomi could open his mouth. Some of them already had their headphones and sleep masks on, probably to drown out what they thought would be another round of “Sakusa Kiyoomi’s Bus Complaints," specifically about not disinfecting themselves upon entry.
Offended but resigned to his fate, Kiyoomi sulkily made his way to the sleeping intruder whose form was obstructed from his teammates’ view. Kiyoomi’s height has always been a blessing to him and the sport he played, towering at a hundred and eighty-nine centimeters, effectively intimidating anyone within a five feet radius. It was a curse to his opponents, just unfortunately to short boys with sunshine smiles and clementine-colored hair too.
A hand reaches out to gently tap Shouyou’s shoulder when the younger boy groans, sleep-drunk and complaining about ‘Samu-nii’ and ‘spare my pudding.’ Kiyoomi then figures out that maybe it's for the best not to do anything about this situation. Let the boy, whose depleted stamina Kiyoomi thought endless, sleep to regain them. Consequences were meant to be dealt with later, after all.
So here they are, riding back to Tokyo for 8 hours and 10 minutes with Miya Shouyou at the back of Itachiyama’s bus. They hit a bump, activating Kiyoomi’s lightning-fast reflex to grab Shouyou by the head and stop him from hitting the window. This makes Shouyou flops on his shoulder, still lightly snoring and dead to the world.
Dangerous, Kiyoomi thinks but doesn't attempt to pull his arm away. Instead, he settles it on the younger boy's shoulder, relishing in the newfound warmth even if it’s only on borrowed time.
The peace doesn't last, let alone make it to Tokyo, when the pair abruptly wakes to the flash of Komori’s phone camera and a gushing pack of weasels in yellow shirts.
Chapter 2: Accidental Kidnapping (Aftermath)
Chapter Text
Meanwhile in Inarizaki
To say that Atsumu was on the verge of dying from worry was an understatement. Currently, the eldest Miya brother was just a foot away from the phone booth to call the police had it not been for Aran and Omimi holding him down. Not even his parents could be bothered with his antics, hanging up after the first two rings.
“Relax.” Suna drawls. “He’s probably picking a fight with some dude from Inubushi.”
“Or Itachiyama.” Kosaku shrugs.
“How can y’all be so calm?” Osamu hissed, uncharacteristically also losing his shit. “Shou’s been gone for more than three hours already!”
"Last time, he was missing for five, but it turned out he was just goofin’ around with Nekoma’s setter," Aran says in an attempt to reassure them despite not sounding so sure himself. He wonders which team took him home this time.
“Whatever!” Atsumu exclaims, finally pushing his teammates off him. “We’re goin’ to the police-
“Atsumu. Osamu.” The twins halt, immediately looking everywhere else than meeting their captain’s stern eyes. “He’s with Itachiyama. He rode the wrong bus.”
Kita brings up his phone to reveal a photo that very much placed Sakusa Kiyoomi on Inarizaki’s hit list.
L ater that night, but in Tokyo
With his homework finished and hunger sated, Kenma jumps back to his bed and contorts his body into a very odd yet comfortable position. He picks up the console by the bedside, hits play, and puts his fingers into work.
Kenma was so close to defeating the evil Grand King, who eerily resembled Seijoh’s flamboyant setter when Kuroo barges into his room. Kenma dies a gruesome death. Well, his player did, but same difference.
“Why?” Kenma weakly throws a pillow into Kuroo’s direction, who effortlessly dodges.
“BECAUSE!” Kuroo bellows, shoving his phone into his childhood friend’s face to reveal Miya Shouyou sleeping on the shoulder of Itachiyama’s Ace. It was posted on VInstagram hours ago captioned with “BOYFRIEND REVEAL???” by yours truly, Komori Motoya.
“Our Chibi-chan’s finally grown up. Never thought he could get himself a special somebody though, with how the devil twins always lurked around him.” He wipes a stray tear. “Oh, and Akaashi had to stop Bokuto from breaking into Itachiyama. It took us hours to calm him down."
“Uhuh.”
“Well, don’t sound so disinterested! Who do you think it is?”
Kenma didn’t know if Kuroo Tetsuro, one of their school's top-scoring students, was playing dumb. Because despite the poorly placed black strip censoring the identity of Shouyou’s mystery guy, the yellow jacket and curly dark hair were already a dead giveaway.
“It’s strange, though,” Kenma says instead, his voice laced with a hint of conspiracy. “What could Shouyou be doing on a bus?”
“… What do you mean?”
Hook. Line. Sinker.
“Think about it, even if it’s all a big misunderstanding like last time, their training camp was held in Hyogo. Shouyou couldn’t possibly have mistaken going into the wrong bus because he didn't need to, especially since he preferred biking home instead.”
“Y-you don’t think he-
“Slept there on purpose? It’s Shouyou we’re talking about. Just because he has a massive crush on Sakusa Kiyoomi doesn’t mean he’ll create a situation where he can get closer to-
But before he could finish his sentence, Kuroo was already out of his room, eager to make a phone call to Miyagi. And out of spite for waking him up too, Tsukishima will definitely tell Suna, who will confirm with Komori. Then Komori will undoubtedly break under investigation and run his mouth with more than necessary details on what happened after that bus ride.
Sometimes, Kenma thinks, it’s good to remind people that no matter how kind or sweet Shouyou is, he was still a Miya thick and through.

Sakusa Kiyoomi, 17, Miya Shouyou, 16. Dating.
592 words
They had separate practices scheduled in two days- Inarizaki with Fukurodani and Itachiyama with Shiratorizawa, yet they still chose to commit to their monthly sleepover. Usually, it wouldn't be a problem, given that they would just spend one afternoon and night together before Shouyou leaves early in the morning. Everything, from their planned activities, the shows they'll watch, and the meals they'll eat, was done accordingly.
However, fighting who takes the bed and sleeps on the floor wrapped in the comfort of the rather peculiar sleeping bag was not in their schedule.
“Sakusa-san.” Shouyou stood on his bed, staring Kiyoomi down, who tried not to get turned on by the situation. Also, he had to bite the inside of his cheeks so he wouldn’t accidentally blurt out how Shouyou’s added height was cute than intimidating.
“Miya," Sakusa says evenly, arms and legs crossed from the cold floor he was sitting on, determined not to lose their petty little staring contest.
Shouyou was outraged. “Not even my teachers call me that!”
“Yeah, well, Sakusa-san's my mother, but you don't hear me complaining."
"Actually, you do. Quite a lot, if I add."
“Then call me by my first name!”
“NEVER!”
It's the tenth of the month, and the rest of the people residing in the vast Sakusa house had their earplugs ready. If the two weren’t committing acts of debauchery, then they were definitely engaged in a shouting match instead. Especially since tonight’s rated-18 activities were banned.
“I swear to God if Shouyou can’t jump tomorrow, I will end you.” Says Miya Atsumu before dropping Shouyou off from the train station.
“Oh no, he's staying overnight again, isn't he?" Motoya groans. “Either tone it down or wear a turtle neck to practice.”
Kiyoomi wants to question why he was the one taking the brunt of everyone’s accusations when it’s Shouyou who always initiated such things.
“But they’re right,” Shouyou begrudgingly agrees. “Interhigh Qualifiers are next month. It would be a pain if everyone would think that we’ve gone lax now that we’re boyfriends.”
Kiyoomi scoffs because if anything, they became more competitive with each other. But he concedes in respect to his boyfriend’s wishes. They then agreed that just for one night- kisses or touches that go beyond the imaginary platonic line will be fined a minimum of at least a thousand yen. Not even cuddling was allowed.
“Fine, you damn brat. Suit yourself.” Kiyoomi zippers himself into the banana-shaped bag. He could hear Shouyou sigh in exasperation before dropping dead in his bed and killing the lights.
Fighting, admittedly, was a good distraction from the disappointment of not being able to hold hands during their stroll or having to sit several feet apart during dinner. Shouyou also made an effort not to wear Kiyoomi’s oversized shirts or his favorite onigiri printed pajamas which was a shame cause Kiyoomi really liked those shorts. They were so easy to remove-
“… K-Kiyoomi-san?”
“Yeah?” His brain lagged for a total of ten seconds, unable to process the fact his boyfriend had just called him by his first name when Shouyou jumped down, immediately unzipping the banana bag and fitting himself inside.
“Wait- we shouldn’t!”
“We’re not gonna do anythin’!” Shouyou says. “We already don’t see each other enough, and I’m not gonna waste this night just cause of a stupid deal.”
“You’re right.” Kiyoomi softly chuckles, easily giving into his boyfriend’s whims as he wraps his arms around Shouyou’s waist, drawing him closer and never letting go. God, he’s so whipped.
“Goodnight, Kiyoomi-san.”
“Goodnight… Shouyou.”

Chapter Text
Sakusa Kiyoomi, 16. Miya Shouyou, 15. Definitely Not Dating.
599 words.
“S-Sakusa-san, can you move a little?”
"Any more than this, and I fall, Miya.”
“But your feet are so cold!”
“So is your hair!”
“… That doesn’t even make sense.”
“The pillows are damp because you didn’t dry it properly. No wonder you get sick-
“I was nervous!”
Sakusa immediately sat up, prompting Shouyou to do the same. Their eyes met- confused crystal blue against molten gold ones. “Why?”
Why? Shouyou wants to tell him, no, scream at him that no person on earth could possibly be calm sharing a bed with their crush.
It’s the first night of the first day of the Spring Tournament. Inarizaki advances to day2 albeit almost having their ass handed to them by an upstart team from Miyagi, and Kageyama Tobio declares that he’ll toss to Shouyou one of these days.
Fortunately, the team was too weary to comprehend Kageyama’s words that time; otherwise, the court would’ve been a mess. The Miya twins, Atsumu most especially, never took it kindly whenever other setters tried to lure Shouyou into their sides.
It was a good game, nonetheless. Karasuno was a team that got their blood pumping and muscles sore by noon.
Come nighttime, and the foxes entered their hotel with the expectation of dropping dead instead of mingling with Itachiyama, who were coincidently staying in the same wing. Atsumu and Osamu almost tore each other a new one over the last pudding cup, club captains Iizuna and Kita bond over green tea while Komori and Suna, Shouyou’s designated roommate, disappeared.
Shouyou at that time didn’t know that disappearing meant fooling around despite knowing they had a big game tomorrow. Shouyou also didn't know that meant swapping roommates, otherwise, he wouldn’t have stripped down to his underwear and jumped on the nearest bed half-naked.
He took his time feeling out the softness of the clean duvets and mass of pillows until he heard the bathroom door open. Thinking it was his Suna-senpai, Shouyou made a quick grab at his bag of orange bath salts, eager to continue his gleeful adventure in a tub full of hot water. But instead of an exasperated middle blocker, Shouyou came face to face with Sakusa Kiyoomi’s very bare chest.
“MIYA?!”
“S-S-SAKUSA-SANNN?!”
Their flustered movements sent Shouyou backward, bath salts in the air and Sakusa reaching for him to break his fall. Fortunately, Sakusa’s palm managed to protect Shouyou's head, even if it meant landing on top of the younger boy. But then his towel dropped, as did Shouyou’s jaws before their screams followed.
It was Shouyou’s bathroom encounter of the day. Both were unscathed, but the second bed wasn’t, ruined by bath salts and the vase that fell from the bedside.
Not wanting to cause any more misunderstandings that night or having to draw straws on who will sleep on the floor, Shouyou and Sakusa reluctantly agreed to share the bed. They kept a respectable distance from each other, forcing themselves to succumb to the darkness lulled by their bodies needing sleep. Unfortunately, it didn’t work, their restlessness keeping them hyperaware of each other’s presence.
“Because it’s you.” Shouyou looks away, crimson blooming in his cheeks. If Sakusa didn’t know the youngest Miya brother had a crush on him, he does now.
“If it helps,” Sakusa whispers, gently taking Shouyou’s hand and placing it on his chest. “I’m nervous too.”
That was how they fell asleep that night, an awkward tangle of limbs. Sakusa’s arm nearly goes numb from being Shouyou’s pillow, who in turn savored the moment listening to the rhythm of someone's heartbeats similar to his.
