Work Text:
Usagi is tired by the time she makes it home. Saving the world is certainly no easy feat, even with her friends at her side.
This time, however, the problem was a minimal one, if time consuming. She’s never been a big fan of running and the monster they chased had them running all over Tokyo.
Shes just grateful she does not have any university classes tomorrow as she unlocks the door to her apartment, practically falling face first into the bed without even removing her clothes.
She is asleep within seconds.
When she wakes, it is to the smell of fresh pancakes, tea, and eggs.
She stumbles out of bed, rubbing her eyes before blinking in surprise to realize she is somehow in her favorite fluffy pink pajamas. She doesn’t remember changing.
Blearily she makes her way to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face before she appears in the kitchen.
Mamoru stands in the kitchen, a familiar apron tied around his waist as he hums to himself along to the radio. He turns to her, a smile on his face. “Saving the world again?” he asks cheerfully. “Sorry I couldn’t accompany you this time; I had to work late.”
She only half hears him as she sits down to the breakfast he’s prepared. He’s made the pancakes in the shape of bunnies and she can’t help but melt at the sight. “These are so cute,” she gushes happily.
She sees the single rose by her plate and she melts even further.
She picks it up and inhales.
He smiles as he sets a bowl of fruit beside her, massaging her shoulders as she sinks into the embrace.
“Just remember,” he tells her quietly, “I’ll always be here for you. No matter what.” He presses a soft kiss at her temple before he says, “I prepared a bubble bath for you when you’re ready, love.” He sits beside her to eat his own food.
“I love you, too,” she says around a mouthful of pancakes. Nothing could ever be more perfect than this.
