Best Way To Relax Is To Be With You

Summary:

Tsuzuru felt so light, it was Kaya’s voice. He wished Mizuno would just keep on talking but right now he needs to reply back. “Kaya, help me.”

Mizuno sat up properly in his bed and reached to turn the lamp light on. “Are you okay, Tsuzuru-kun?”

Notes:

Ended up writing this after brainrotting with H, enjoy :3

Work Text:

The scriptwriter stared at the first page of his script, sighing. Little light coming out of the laptop screen lit up the small space in his and Masumi’s shared room in the dorm. Tsuzuru turns around to see Masumi; he was fast asleep in his own bed. He noticed the boy playing with his phone earlier but he’s never seen to compromise with his sleep. While Tsuzuru himself fails to do so, all he has known is a sleep schedule he can’t seem to fix but he enjoys the silence and peace of midnight when everyone is asleep. He faces his laptop again, taking a note of the time in the corner of the screen.

“2:17 am…”, he mumbles to himself.

Letting out another sigh, he looks at the first paragraph he finished about an hour ago. He’s stuck and doesn't feel like reading the paragraph over and over again anymore. His hand reaches the drawer under his desk where he remembered he kept his treasures. Some letters from one special fan are his most important treasure. Holding them in his hand made him smile already. He was feeling slightly tired but he felt it slowly fade as his mind was being crowded with thoughts of that person. Kaya Mizuno. Most special person in his life.

The only thing he could read over and over again for the rest of his life would be the letters from Mizuno. Though, he no longer has to do that. They were able to exchange numbers just a week ago. And they have been talking through texts ever since, everyday. He realized that Mizuno is the same as he remembers from his childhood.

He didn’t hesitate to pick up his phone and instantly sent him a text. It’s seen within a minute, he’s awake. He saw the typing bubble pop up but he couldn’t wait and hit on the call option.

Mizuno on the other side jumped and sat up on his bed; the phone almost falling and hitting the ground slipping from his hand but he caught it, lying on his chest on top of the bed, as if he had caught the ball in a baseball match. He felt that was an extreme sport, not expecting to receive a call from Tsuzuru like that. He felt his heart pump against his chest in a rush, the nervousness got to him when he realized that he had declined the call instead of accepting it. Immediately switching to chat, he began to apologize.

:I’M SO SORRY I ACCIDENTALLY DECLINED I DIDN’T MEAN TO ! THAT WAS SO RUDE OF ME

: Its okay, Kaya! Do you want me to call again?

: So sorry… yes.

He made sure to accept the call this time and greeted Tsuzuru in the most gentle tone he possibly could. “Hello…”

Tsuzuru felt so light, it was Kaya’s voice. He wished Mizuno would just keep on talking but right now he needs to reply back. “Kaya, help me.”

Mizuno sat up properly in his bed and reached to turn the lamp light on. “Are you okay, Tsuzuru-kun?” His mind was getting busy with thoughts of what could happen.

“Not okay,” A sigh was heard from Tsuzuru before he continued. “Writing for a script but I’m stuck. Only you can help me.”

“Only I..?”, The blue eyed man blushed, mentally thanking the god that Tsuzuru couldn’t see him through the call. “I don’t know… but, have you considered taking a rest? Maybe you just need some rest, Tsuzuru-kun.”

“I’ve thought about it and I definitely prefer talking with you over rest. Actually, this is how I rest.”

Mizuno put his hand over his chest, his heart was beating crazy, maybe his face was redder as well after hearing that. “I-It’s very late, Tsuzuru-kun…”

“It is but I still wanted to talk to you…”, Tsuzuru felt a slight guilt. He should have waited instead of being self—

“Tsuzuru-kun! I also, I…I like talking with you, I’m g-glad that you thought of me and decided to call me…I’m really glad.”

Always thinking of you, Kaya. Always.

“Then, can I see you tomorrow?”

“T-Tomorrow?! I-I have meetings and a-ap-appointments tomorrow, I can’t—”

Mizuno is still too shy to meet Tsuzuru face to face, he finds himself being nervous around the guy. Though, Tsuzuru also knows that these are all just excuses.

“It’s been a week since I last saw you. Do I need to get an appointment now?” Mizuno was being teased.

“N-No It’s not that! Tsuzuru-kun… I’ll let you know tomorrow?”

Tsuzuru decided not to push the guy further and agreed. He doesn’t want to take any risk with Mizuno now that everything is going well at last.

“I’ll be waiting, Mizuno-san.” Tsuzuru smirked and heard his childhood friend giggle from the other side of the call.

That was a lie. No, not from Mizuno but Tsuzuru.

Tsuzuru was standing right outside MIZUNO Enterprise the next day. It was almost evening when Mizuno came out, walking with his assistant behind him, ready to take a ride back to his last schedule before he heads home.

“Kaya!”

Mizuno’s eyes widened at the sight of Tsuzuru running towards him. “T-T-Tsuzuru-kun!”

All of a sudden he was conscious of his look. Was his hair ok, his face— He touched few strands of his hair and ‘fixed’ it just in case.

Tsuzuru flashed him a smile. “I hope you like surprises. You do look really surprised.” He chuckles softly.

God, this is the best surprise ever.

“I do! But, I didn't expect you to be here right now!” He couldn’t hide his excitement. Tsuzuru found it really adorable that he reacted exactly how Tsuzuru thought he would.

“I just thought I’d come to pick you up.” Tsuzuru looks at Mizuno, then exchanges eye contact with his assistant behind him.

“O-Oh, yeah…! I was just heading home, you have really good timing, Tsuzuru-kun.”

Suddenly his assistant whispers something to him. “But, what about the dinner app—” which was cut off by Mizuno, as he turned around and gave them a threatening glare. They quickly understood and bowed their head as an apology.

“Thank you for coming to pick me up, Tsuzuru-kun.”

“My pleasure~ Let’s go? You haven’t had dinner yet, right?”

Tsuzuru hoped he could take Mizuno to eat somewhere. Like a dinner date, maybe… A date? A what? He shakes his head. It’s not a date, he just wanted to see Mizuno… maybe…

“Oh, I haven’t… What about you?”

“Oh, uh! I haven’t either. Does Ramen sound good?”

“Absolutely! But, if you let me know you were coming I would book a table in one of my favorite restaurants.”

It’s not a date. It’s not a date, Tsuzuru—

“I’ll be honest, Kaya. I’m here to see you and talk to you, having dinner with you is only an excuse.”

There it is. Tsuzuru was doing that thing again. The thing where Mizuno feels his heart flutter, a feeling he can’t explain but he feels like this with only Tsuzuru. Solely, because of this man standing in front of him.

“Tsuzuru-kun, you asked me for my help last night. I’m not sure how to help you but…” He takes a pause because he finds himself avoiding Tsuzuru’s eyes while talking. He properly locks his eyes with him and proceeds to say, “ But, I still want to be the one who helps you. I-I hope it’s not rude or selfish of me for wanting that because I know that mankai, your family is there to help you but I, too—”

“You already are the ‘one’ who helps me. That’s why, I keep wanting to go back to you. So, don’t leave me… again.”

Mizuno looks at him with wide eyes, feeling himself fighting back a tear falling down. What are you saying, Tsuzuru-kun? I’ve regretted enough, not again. Never again.

He aggressively shakes his head and makes a firm reply, “I won’t.”

Grumbleeeees~

Tsuzuru blinks at him.

“U-UH…” Mizuno’s face heats up. He knew it was his stomach making that noise.

Tsuzuru giggles. He knew as well.  “We should get going.”

Mizuno nods as he stares at the ground in embarrassment.
