Vex had been following Viego for the better part of a week now, her tiny yordle feet scrambling to keep up with his long strides. And while she was initially entranced by his aloof demeanor and, dare she say it, charm, the shine was beginning to wear off.
"Are we there yet?" she— Ugh. Not whined. Asked. She asked.
"In time," came his reply, distant and knowing.
Positively infuriating.
Eventually they came to a stop on a cliff overlooking a bright, bustling city and Vex wrinkled her nose in disgust. She could just imagine its inhabitants going on with their happy, sunshine-filled lives without a care in the world, singing their hellos and good-byes to each other with a spring in their step every time. Gross.
“So how are you—“ Viego cut her off, plunging his sword into the ground before him with a sharp thud. He rested his hands on the pommel, one on top of the other, and smiled.
"Like this, my little yordle friend."
Vex shot him an indignant look, but that telltale greenish-black mist that spewed forth from the fissured ground silenced her from making further comment. She stood in rapt fascination as thick wispy tendrils scuttled down the cliffside, like desperate hands feverishly seeking to claw at and subsume the city below in their possessive destruction.
Tentatively, Vex inched forward to the very edge, eyes wide like the curious child she insisted she wasn’t. She couldn’t help herself though. Not one bit. The corners of her mouth twisted up in subdued glee as life withered in the mist's wake only to be granted a second chance in ruined decay mere moments later.
Oh yes. This was exactly what she was looking for.
