Chapter Text
A slow night in the bar off the beaten track in Soho, London: this is where we set our scene. The stars in the night sky sparkling softly and a man lighting a cigarette in the building. Holding onto the cigarette with only his teeth, as he used his hands to clean up the spilled alcohol and wasted money from the slow night. He looked at the clock, his yellow eyes staring sleepily at the time. He yawned, stopping for a moment, deserting the white rag. He pulled his arms apart from each other, stretching. He closed his eyes for a moment, moving his neck to the left, then followed to the right. He continued to clean, listening to the cars drive by.
Bending down behind the bar to throw the rag in the trash behind the bar, he had heard someone walk in. He popped up immediately, and waved, taking the cigarette out of his mouth and stomping it out. His yellow eyes had made contact with a pair of shiny blue ones. He wore a detective’s hat-plus a pair of two ears. He stepped in with an extremely bright orange get up and smiled. He began to speak.
“What can I do for you, sir? A drink?” He grabbed a glass and his shaker from their place on the shelf, as the detective took a seat.
“I would enjoy that. A negroni please.” He looked at the bartender. The detective pulled out his phone, and started typing away. The bartender raised his eyebrow. After, burning the orange and sliding it across the rim, he dropped the citrus in. He pushed the cocktail towards the detective with nimble fingers, leaning over.
“That’ll be 20 pounds.” He stated, his hand out, while the detective started sipping it away.
“Oh yes.” He fished out his wallet out of his pocket. The bartender seemed to look at the wallet, and noticed a card next to his credit card.
“So detective Mysta eh?” He took the card, slid it through the card reader, and then gave it back.
“Well yes, and you are?” He sparked a small smile, blue eyes looking up and down.
“Vox. Vox Akuma.” The dark haired bartender responded, as Mysta smiled.
“Thank you for providing me with a spot to clear my thoughts. You see, I’m on a case. A very dark case in fact. It’s been destroying my brain and sleep, so I thank you again.” Mysta hummed, standing up, and walking out, almost bumping into the wall. Vox let out a small giggle, and then began to close up shop.
Vox ditched his bartending uniform to his red shirt and white pants. He let down his once ponytail tied hair. He took a breath of the deep british crisp evening air, and walked back to his flat. Opening the door with his keys, and skipping the lights, he shuffled away into the bathroom to slip into his sleepwear. Crawling into his bed, and snuggling up to another sleeping body, he kissed their head, and had fallen to sleep.
His dirty blonde hair with blue highlights was sprawled out messily on the pillow when Vox entered the room. His glasses were off to the side on the night table, and so were his gloves. Vox thought to himself, how lucky he was to have him by his side. Ike Eveland. An aspiring author, and someone who loved Vox just the same. Ike opened his eyes for a moment, groggily saying a few words. His beautiful green eyes looked at Vox, earning a soft smile from his lover.
“Shhh go back to sleep, Ike.” Vox whispered softly, kissing his forehead, and cuddling up to him.
The soft sheets brushed up against Ike’s skin, as he propped himself up on his elbows, looking down at the sleeping Vox. He leaned over, kissing his head, and running his hand through his long hair. He kissed his nose, before getting out of the bed. A pair of arms wrapped around Ike’s waist, and pulled him back in the bed. Vox’s head hides into Ike’s neck, taking in the scent of his favorite novelist. The soft morning light seeped through the British flat’s curtain and blinds. The rays of sunlight reflected the white sheets. Ike shuffled through the grip of his favorite bartender, pulling on his glasses. In a sleepy voice , he whined.
“Ike don’t go.” This plea put a smile on Ike’s face. Ike shook his head, prying his hands off of him. “I need to make breakfast.” Ike hummed, while Vox looked up at him.
“Let’s stay in bed for a little longer, then I’ll make breakfast, okay?” He yawned, nuzzling his face back into the pillow. Ike chuckled, kissing Vox’s lips.
“Okay then. Just a little longer.” He smiled, taking off his glasses, and snuggling back to Vox.
Waking up, Mysta groaned, lifting his head off of the table covered in papers and reports. He rubbed his head, groaning softly and looking at his phone. Reading at 8:00. He yawned, standing up, and walking over to the kitchen. He reached for a pot in the kitchen, but then retracted his hand back. He shook his head, and sighed. He put his hat on, and grabbed his bag, and took onto the city. Running up the stairs of the police department, he held a few papers.
“The captain will see you in a moment. Please sit here. Detective Rias.” One of the ladies at the police station had requested for him to sit. He tapped his foot, holding the folder of papers. Luckily, no one looked too close, or else the papers moving slightly at the ends would have leaked his nervousness. He gulped, when he had heard his name called. He watched the other officers chat and then frown at him as he walked by.
The door had shut on him. He sat down, throwing the papers on the table, looking at the captain. Her green eyes pierced down at him. Her hair was long down to her (at least) mid back, with some red highlights. She stared at him intently.
“It’s been months, Mysta. Don’t tell me it’s still the same. Surely, you have made progress by now.” She spoke, crossing her arms. A black choker rested on her neck, and a pin looking hair piece rested in her hair.
“Listen, Mika. I am trying. I think I’m getting somewhere. Last month, I didn’t know that Luca Kaneshiro was focusing on a pattern on individuals.” Mysta tried to explain, while Mika leaned back.
“Hm,.but do you know why?” She retorted, as he shook his head in defeat. He looked pitiful almost, like a puppy whining. She sighed, “I’ll give you another two months, then I’ll have to transfer.” She stood up, patting his back, walking away.
Mysta nodded, and took his reports and walked away.
Vox yawned, while he sipped his morning tea. His eyes found their way to Ike who had been humming softly. He looked outside the window of their shared flat, while Vox walked up to Ike, wrapping his arms around his waist.
“God Ike, is there something you can’t do?” Vox asked, chuckling, kissing him on the cheek, sitting his cup of tea down.
“Express my love for you enough.” Ike teased back, turning, and sharing a kiss with Vox ever so softly. Their lips ignited with just enough passion, and Vox’s hand was placed on Ike’s cheek softly. Vox opened his eyes at Ike who had been staring back at him with a soft smile.
“Ike, you are gorgeo-” His phone started ringing atrociously. Ike started to giggle, while Vox stumbled and grabbed his phone and answered it. Ike leaned his hip on the counter, holding his morning coffee, smiling at his partner.
“Oh hey, Shu. What’s up?” Vox answered his phone, while Ike set his coffee down, and walked over to Vox, touching his shoulder softly.
“Oh okay, I’ll be there in a moment.” Vox nodded, as Ike’s face disappeared from a smile to a frown. Vox took Ike’s hand, and kissed the inside of it softly.
“Weren’t you the one who wanted to spend time with me, and now you’re leaving?” Ike asked, as Vox nodded.
“I’m sorry, love. Shu and Reimu ran into-”
“Reimu? Say no more, go ahead.” He kissed Vox’s nose. “She’s a pill. Go take care of it.” He smiled, disappearing into another room, as Vox nodded. He headed off back down to his bar, and opened the doors. The daylight was most different to the night shifts he’d take. He sighed, crossing his arms, and seeing Shu and Reimu behind the bar. Shu, the purple haired male was pinching his nose, trying to calm Reimu down. The card reader had stopped working.
“Hey guys, what the hell happened?” Vox questioned, as Shu laughed, in awkwardness.
“Reimu wanna talk to Vox about it?” Shu coaxed the feisty girl, who shook her head furiously.
“He barely knows how to work the sound system.” Reimu retorted, starting at the card reader, holding onto the sides angrily, as Shu sighed.
“Reimu broke the card reader.” Shu reported.
“No I did not.” Reimu retorted, as Vox rolled his eyes. He jumped over the edge effortlessly, while Shu stepped back.
“Hey Reimu, can I please touch the card reader?” Vox asked, pushing her softly out of the way, while Reimu growled. She fought with him for a moment, but then gave up. She grabbed her leather jacket and walked out of the bar. Shu called after her, but nothing.
“Well, the card reader’s fixed. I have to get back to Ike.” Vox smiled, patting Shu on the shoulder.
“Thank you for dealing with her.” Vox whispered, while Shu held Vox’s hand in place. “No problem, man. Say hi to Ike for me.”
“Will do.”
Heels followed Reimu, as she turned her head. Green eyes sparkled, and a gun was held closely to her head. The assassin hummed softly, and pulled the trigger. Reimu flopped to the floor, watching the assassin walk away. Reimu groaned, her body was on the ground, but her spirit was floating over the alleyway, groaning.
“God damn it.” She cursed.
Vox slipped through the door to their shared flat. He hummed softly, setting a bag from the supermarket on the table, while he heard the shower running. He peered over, knocking on the door.
“Oh hey Vox, I’ll be out in a moment.” Ike hummed softly, turning off the water. Vox smiled to himself, holding a present he got for Vox. He walked over to the living room, and sat down, leaving the box on the table. He crossed his leg, and leaned in the chair getting comfortable.
“Hey Vox, How was it?” Ike asked, peering over at the table.
“What’s this?” Ike pondered, as Vox moved his hand softly. “Open it, and find out.” Vox smiled. Ike pulled apart the ribbon, and then walked over to the kitchen, slipping out a knife from the drawer to slice the ribbon. He opened the box, to find a new set of writing pens and a beautiful new notebook. Ike looked at Vox from the kitchen, and then walked over, and kissed his cheek.
“This is lovely, thank you Vox.”
