Work Text:

"Cheers!" they said as they drank up. They had just sold their first jingle and they were both beyond ecstatic.
The two were sitting on the couch in the living room, turned on the radio and found a few beers. It was pretty late and they knew they would have to get up early the next day to help the girls, but they didn't care. The liquor didn't help either.
They had to celebrate their accomplishment somehow.

Jesse laughed and looked at Joey. "You know," he starts. "I would never have imagined being so close to you when we first met." Jesse started. Joey chuckled. "I thought you were too cool for the likes of me!" He said in a teasing manner.
"Cmon Joe, don't mess around. I'm tryna' have a heart to heart here!" He said in a frustrated yet playfull tone.

"I suppose you're right." Joey adds after their laughter quiets down. "When I first moved in, I never would've imagined staying here for so long. And now, I don't even have any intention of leaving so far. I really love the girls, and spending time with you and Danny."

Jesse let out a huff, signaling his agreement. Jesse's smile faded a bit. He looked down from Joey and on the couch cushion. "When Pam died i-" he stopped himself, trying to find the right words.
Joey looked at him patiently.
"I've never been close to my old man, he would always yell at me and hate me for who i was. My ma' never did much to stop him either. I felt like Pam was my only real family. Living here makes me feel like part of a family, I love being here. Despite all the hugs of course." Jesse smiled and looked up at Joey fondly.

Joey loved it when Jesse looked at him like that.
"Probably just the liquor talking." Jesse said, a bit embarrassed after sharing his feelings.

"I do get what you mean," Joey added. "I never really had any real family life. Danny was all I had. I am happy to have found my family."

The two looked into eachothers eyes. The radio was playing romantic music. They leaned a bit closer to each other.

"Uhm, wait I have something!" Jesse interrupted the situation.
He took his bag leaning on the couch and took out a bottle of whisky.
"I'm no expert in whisky, so I don't know if it's any good. I bought it so we could be a bit more fancy, now that we have sold a jingle."

He got up and went to the kitchen, coming back with 2 glasses shortly after. He placed the glasses on the coffee table and sat back down. He reached for the whisky bottle once again and handed it over to Joey. "Mind doing the honours?" He said while smirking at the other man.
"If you insist." Joey smirked back.

■■■

After 2 hours of laughing uncontrollably they had no intention of stopping.

"God it's 1am already" Joey said while looking at the clock. "It's gonna be a pain tomorrow with the girls." Joey sighed.
"God, you sound like some old man. What's done is done. We're gonna be tired tomorrow no matter what we do so why not continue?" Jesse teased. while elbowing Joey, chuckling under his breath.
"Who said I had any intention of stopping?" Joey said while elbowing Jesse back.

They both began laughing. It wasn't very funny, if funny at all. In each other's company everything seemed funnier, not to mention all the liquor they drank.

The longer they sat the closer they seemed to be.
At this point they were almost cuddling. Facing each other on the couch. Jesse's arm was on top of the couch backrest, almost around Joey's shoulder. Other than that he was sitting normally on the couch, his head turned 90° to fully face Joey.
One of Joey's legs, the one facing the backrest, was in a tailor position while the other leg was in a position that legs normally are when you sit on a couch.

The two of them are closer than ever.

At some point there were only a few centimeters between them. They could feel each other's breaths. They stopped talking, only for them to gaze into each other's eyes.
The soft music in the background set the mood perfectly.

Joey put his hand slowly on Jesse's shoulder. The two of them are getting closer and closer.

"Jess" Joey said in a soft tone. "Joe" Jesse said back.

All of this only took a few seconds but it probably felt like hours. The both of them were too drunk to think as they closed the gap.

It was a very soft and short kiss. After they pull away they look each other in the eyes, without saying a word they went in for another kiss. This one much deeper.

Joey's hand travels from Jesse's shoulder to his nape. Jesse's arm that was resting on the backrest now wrapped itself around Joey's waist. The other arm joining in, wrapping Joey in a warm embrace.
Joey's other hand was now on the back of Jesse's head. Touching his hair. The hair he never let anyone touch.

The kiss just kept going, it was slowly getting deeper and deeper. Neither man could resist the other.
They grabbed each other tighter and tighter.

"DADDY!!"

A scream from upstairs made the two stop in an instant, pulling away from eachother. It was Stephanie. She probably had a bad dream.

The two shared a look and knew that they had to go upstairs and comfort her.

"Finally Stephanie is sleeping" Joey whispers outside of Stephanie and DJ's room. "God it's so late already?" Jesse looks at the time. "I think we better call it a night. We still have responsibilities" Jesse continues. "Look who sounds like an old man now" Joey whispered back trying not to make too much noise while chuckling.

"Haha, very funny! Anyway, thank you for a great night Joseph. See you tomorrow." Jesse looks into Joey's eyes in the dark. A soft smile on his lip.

They looked at each other in the dark.
They both clearly wanted to kiss the other person, but they didn't.
They had sobered up, they didn't have the guts anymore. They would just talk about it tomorrow or never mention it.

"Goodnight Jess"

"Goodnight Joe"

Jesse went into his room and Joey proceeded downstairs.

It was just a one time thing. Right?

They were just drunk… Right?
