Chapter 1: Chapter one.

Chapter Text

One of the first things that Meng Yao learned was that people weren't nice.

At least they weren't nice to him or his mom, which rude, his mom may be a prostitute, but she was pretty and nice and she deserved some human basic respect, it wasn't her fault that her Dad was an asshole that sold her to pay off his debt.

And Meng Yao learned in the other hand that books were pretty nice, they didn't judge you or call you names or made fun of you for things you couldn't possible control.

So yes, Books were great and people sucked.

And Meng Yao favorite books were the history books, it was amazing to read about old legends and the way the people used to live.

Because of that, even if Meng Yao didn't really liked people, he befriended the old aunty of the book shop.

Once his mom had send him there to buy a book about cultivation so he could be just like his dad! — what was so great about a man that abandoned his mom, he would never know — but there he fell in love with a book of local history and folk tales.

He had being so distressed knowing that he had to get the one about cultivation instead of the one that he actually wanted that the old aunty asked him what was wrong so he told her the true.

The old aunty was surprised that a kid so young was interested in that and even if she couldn't give him the book, she did allowed him to read it while he was on the shop.

And after that first day reading with the Aunty, she had let him come back to read more books, and when he finished all the history books — that weren't enough for his liking— she had told him history of her own about her hometown and local costume.

Meng Yao had being happy to listen and the aunty was happy having someone to talk to but Meng Yao wanted more, so he started to ask for legend and tales to all the people he encounter.

And that's when he realized that not even half of the local legends and story's were in books! That was so awful! How could people knew then in the future if they weren't written?!

When he said this to the aunty, she suggested something that he had never considered before.

Writing his own history books, with the local legends and folk tales.

And Meng Yao had decided to do just that.

He will make the best book!

.

Meng Yao was on his way to the book shop when he saw a kid with purple clothes in the edge of tears.

Now, Meng Yao wasn't one to do random acts of kindness like helping a lost kid, but the purple identify him as part of the Jiang Sect.

Maybe if he helped the kid he will tell him some story's about his sect? It sounded fair to him.

.

"Are you sure this is the way?" Jiang Cheng asked to the boy that had offered to help him find his father.

He didn't look that older, maybe a year older? But he moved around like if he knew this place like the back of his hand.

"Yes, don't worry, Gege will take care of you" he assured him with a kind smile and he felt his cheek heating up for some reason.

.

Jiang Fengmian was a dead man walking, he had lost Jiang Cheng while he talked to one of his disciples in the market and now his dear wife was going to kill him.

"Father!" He heard his son screaming and in the next second his son was hugging him.

"A-cheng" he said relieved at seeing his son well and next to him.

"I got lost! But Gege found me" His son explained and the sect leader noticed the child that was still holding hand with his son and it looked like he really was trying to subtly take his hand away but Jiang Cheng had a death grip on his

Well that was interesting.

.

Jiang Fengmian thought that little A-Yao was going to faint of excitement in the moment he showed him the sect library.

A-Yao hadn't want money or anything of the sort in exchange of helping Jiang Cheng, all he had asked was story's.

Apparently he adored with passion books and history and was even writing his own book and as his first step as a writer he was gathering information.

Jiang Fengmian had took one look at the way that his son that had troubles interacting with other children his age still held the other child hand and he had decided that it will be a nice thing if he had a friend the way he had at his age.

So instead of just a couple of story's he had offered little A-Yao access to the sect library and for a second A-Yao smiled had become so big he thought that it might hurt.

Of course Madam Yu haven't being happy with... Well anything that happened that day but she was hardly ever happy with something that he did, so nothing new there.

.

Madam Yu had being furious when her oh so darling husband had told her that he had arranged for the son of a prostitute — a prostitute! — to come to the sect to read their books — what if he stole them? — and to be around her child!

But of course her husband didn't heard a word she said and still went with it.

And for weeks she made someone watched over the kid.

But to her surprise the kid turned to be quite useful.

Because against her warning a-cheng had taken a liking to the street kid he will go every day to the library and will read all the books that he used to take ages in reading, he will also perform better during practice when he thought that the kid was watching him and will even act more confident than before, because "His Yao-ge always forgets to eat or take a break when he read, so he has to take care of him so he won't drop dead

Apparently his son bloomed when he had another person to take care, making him take the lead and act like the future leader he was meant to be.

Fine, if her husband wanted for the kid to hang around his son he could, but he had at least had to be useful.

.

"I'm dying" Murmured Meng Yao after sword practice something that he completely loathed.

Meng Yao had being over the moon when he was allowed to come to the Jiang Sect, the library! The story! The possibility!

Of course he kept it a secret from his mom, because he will want for him to learn cultivation, which he didn't want because he was going be a writer! And if she knew he was invited to the sect she will pushed him to ask to learn cultivation.

So he didn't tell her and just pretend that he went with the aunty of the book shop like always.

And he had being happy reading and chatting with the sect members about their family's and hometown until Madame Yu showed up.

The woman had practically dragged him to the training ground while A-cheng had followed him looking between worried and excited.

Meng Yao had being just confused.

Well, apparently Madam Yu had decided that only disciples could use the sect library so if Meng Yao wanted to keep going there he had to train like a disciple too.

So even if Meng Yao didn't want to learn cultivation he was forced to learn — was this his karma for keeping things from his mom? —

And now he was dying.

"Come on! If we're late will miss lunch" said A-cheng at his side.

"I don't need food I need books" he answered but unfortunately the other boy didn't seem to think the same because against his wishes he dragged him to go for their lunch.

Like mother, like son.

.

"You wrote this?" Madam Yu asked to Meng Yao who looked really anxious.

"Yes" he answered not looking away but still looking nervous.

Since Madam Yu had being the one that decided to make Meng Yao some sort of disciple, Meng Yao had decided that it was only appropriate to show her his work.

Mostly because he had the vague hope that if she was pleased with his work and saw how important it was, she will let him off the hook with the sword training.

"And this is just the first draft"

"Yes?" He asked not being able to read the woman expression.

"Go back to practice"

"Bu— he shut up immediately fully knowing that he will be dragged otherwise.

Well, at least he tried.

.

Meng Yao was a genius.

Madam Yu had known that the kid was smart for his age, but after reading the draft of his book...

He was a genius

The book was meant to be a historical book, it was extremely detailed without being too complex or hard to read — or boring — and it also talked about the local legends and folk tales and the probable sources of each one.

It was probably one of the best books that she had read, and it was written by a literal child that had only had access to a library for a couple of months and had talked to half the sect.

Madam Yu had struck Gold without even knowing.

Meng Yao didn't only bring the best out of A-cheng he could also aide him on the future with his bright mind, they could be unstoppable together and bring all kind of glory to the sect.

But there was only one problem with that.

Meng Yao didn't like cultivation, it wasn't like he didn't have talent for it, he just didn't like it and did enough to just not be scolded too harshly and well there was also the problem of his birth.

He couldn't be head disciple...

But he could be another thing.

.

"A-cheng I need you to answer me this honestly and seriously" Said Madame Yu to her child and the little boy stiffened like a board but nodded. "Do you like Your Yao-ge?"

"Yes" he answered without hesitation.

"Would you like him to be... To be yours forever?" She asked carefully and this made her child pause.

"Mine? Forever?"

"Yes"

"Only mine?"

"Yes" she answered starting to lose her patient but soon the excited look on her child told her the answer.

Meng Yao will probably never be head disciple.

But he was husband material.

.

"You want to free my mother?" Asked Meng Yao wary, good the kid knew that kindness didn't come for free.

"You are a good influence on A-cheng and he will need someone on the future to be always on his side and help him to run the sect" She explained.

"And you want me to be that person" he said more to himself and she nodded, another good sign of how good he will be for the sect, how easy he picked things. "you want me to marry him" he added and she resisted the urge to smile at his sharp mind.

It was actually quite the common practice for wealthy families to pick children that looked promising to  became concubines in the family, usually they were kids from humble origins or orphans, but the child of a prostitute wasn't something new or scandalous.

As a male wife Meng Yao will help Jiang Cheng run the sect even more closely that if he was to be the head disciple and since he was a male and couldn't produce and heir Jiang Cheng could still marry some young lady from a good family and back ground.

It was a win-win situation.

And probably the best opportunity that Meng Yao will ever encounter on his life but just to add something else to the deal.

"As the male wife of the sect leader you will be able to share talks and information with other sects" She added and of course Meng Yao picked it right away.

If he played his cards right he could have access to other sects library and knowledge!

"I'll be my honor" He said making a respectful bow and Madam Yu smiled pleased.

.

Madam Yu is so fucking happy right now that most of the sect think that the world is going to end.

After her oh so dear husband had dared to bring the son of that... Woman into the sect her mood had sour and may have gone a little overboard with the training.

But all that went away when she notice that despite his husband wishes A-cheng disliked the Wei brat.

Why? All thanks to A-Yao.

Apparently A-Yao had being nice to Wei Ying when he first arrived and after loosing his dogs because of the brat, A-cheng wasn't happy about possible having to share his A-Yao — he called it like that now that he knew he was meant to be his — with the brat.

But the brat had latched to the first person that had being kind to him, this person been A-Yao.

So Wei Ying and A-cheng fought worst than cat and dogs despite her husband wishes.

Madam Yu couldn't possible want for a possible better son in law.

.

Wei Ying glared at Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Cheng glared back.

Meng Yao was so happy that he might break his face because of how big his smile was.

Sometimes Jiang Fengmian didn't know if Meng Yao lack of awareness of anything that weren't books of story's was a good or bad thing.

They were currently in the Nie sect for the birthday of the second young Master Nie Huisang, who happened to be around his children age.

In the beginning it was only mean to be him and his son, but A-cheng insisted that he wasn't going to leave A-Yao with him around — him being A-Ying — so A-Yao was bribed to go with the promise of skipping training and of course A-Ying didn't want to stay behind alone with Madam Yu — which fair — so the three were in Qinghe.

And the only one happy about that was A-Yao.

.

"Watch out!" A-Yao heard before feeling someone crashing against him.

"What the—" he murmured almost falling to the floor but managing to catch himself and the other person before it was too late.

"You need to hide me!" The kid that crashed into him said clutching his robe's.

"I— what—

"Nie Huisang!" They heard someone screamed and the boy hide behind him.

"He wants to hurt you?" He asked the kid.

"Worst! He wants me to go to saber practice!" He cried out and that made a shill run through A-Yao back.

"Huisan— " the adult or more like teenager said before he realized that his little brother wasn't alone. "Who are you?"

"I'm A-Yao" He answered just a little intimidated for the teenager. "And this is A-sang" he introduced Huisang and that made Nie Mingjue paused.

Why was this child introducing his own little brother to him?

"A-sang is my friend, he promised me to show me around" A-Yao added. "And promises are to be kept" he said as serious as a sect leader talking about sect business.

"Yes?" He answered feeling confused.

"Okay" Nodded A-Yao still as serious. "We will be leaving now" he let him now before turning around and walk away.

What just happened?

.

Jiang Fengmian looked at his three children.

A-Yao had apparently bonded with the second young Master of the Niè sect over loathing practice and had being attached at the hip ever since.

And now A-Ying and A-cheng weren't glaring at each other anymore.

They were glaring at the second young Master — who he was quite sure saw giving them a smug look at least once when A-Yao wasn't looking —

Well, at least they had something in common now.

.

Huisang had a friend.

His friend was called A-Yao and he was all he could ask of a friend.

He understood his loathing of saber practice and will actively help him to avoid it, he also shared his taste in literature and the arts, and he was also very, soft and pretty and a work of art in the making.

He was also very cute when he was oblivious about the way other people saw him.

Unfortunately there were two things he didn't like about his friend.

His fiance and his self appointed best friend.

But it was okay, Huisang wasn't like them, he was a patient child — and a very cunning one when he wanted to be —

His A-Yao only needed some help and Huisang was more than happy to help him.

That was what friend were about right?

.

Madam Yu looked at all the gifts that the brat from the Nie sect had send to their A-Yao.

When ask about it, A-Yao said:

"A-sang it's really nice" He said all innocent while his son and the brat glared at the gift and a way that said, yes, the nie brat was really nice, but only to A-Yao.

Now it was a little annoying the fact that someone dared to try and steal her future son in law, but in the other hand.

A-cheng and the Wei brat had being training even harder because they had to show that their sect was way better than the Nie one and it was going to be even better in the future so A-Yao wasn't tempted for other sects.

And there was also the factor that it could come in handy the fact that second young Master of one major sect was wrapped around A-Yao fingers.

With every passing the day Madam Yu was more happy about her investment.

.

Because A-Yao was going to be A-cheng wife he shared some classes with Yanli.

He quite liked her, she was soft and kind, like his mom and even if she liked A-cheng and A-Ying, more often than not they had too much energy for his liking, so he enjoyed his quiet time with Yanli.

Besides if it weren't for her he would have cut his hair since it was bothering to have it falling on his face when he tried to read, but she had suggested to braid it and he had to say that he was quite happy with the result.

The only downside was that Yanli liked to dress him sometimes... With girl clothes and even if he didn't particularly mind — he was going to be A-cheng wife after all — the boys did act weird around him when he was dressed like a young lady.

Well, more weird than usual.

But it made Yanli happy so A-Yao could endure it for her.

.

Jin Zixuan didn't like to come to Lotus pier, mostly because he had to see his fiance and that was always an awkward affair.

It wasn't like if he hated her or anything like that, he just hated being forced to marry someone he didn't know or love, his parents had an arranged marriage and the whole cultivation world could probably said how bad idea was that.

So when they arrived he managed to sneak out to take a walk and prepared himself for the awkwardness that was to come.

He was walking in the pier when he heard someone crying and two children frantic words.

When he took a better look he realized that there was a young lady in the ground softly sobbing while two kid apologize to her and tried to calm her down.

"What happened?" He asked because his mother will scold him if he found out that he didn't help a lady in need.

"We were running and we crashed into her without wanting to" one of the children explained.

"She dropped her book into the water and has being crying ever since" The other child added and he looked at the water were some of the pages of the book floated completely ruined.

"Uh..." He murmured not really knowing what to do, but the children looked at him with hope on their eyes.

Great.

"I can buy you a new book" he suggested to the girl that finally stopped looking at the water and turned to look at him.

She had pretty eyes and something inside of him hurt at seeing all the tears on her face.

"You can't" she said still sobbing a little.

"Why not?"

"Because I wrote that book" she answered to his surprise.

"You did?"

"Yes and it was the only copy" She lamented and oh... That sounded awful.

"What it was about?"

"History mostly and folk tales" She answered.

"I know about Jin history and some legends?" He commented and that made the girl stop crying.

"Really?"

"Yes" he nodded and that seem to do the trick because she suddenly stop crying and started to ask about the legends.

And Jin Zixuan wasn't sure when the children left but he does remember seen the awed and excited expression on the girls face with every story and thinking if this how it felt to have a little sister.

It wasn't such a bad feeling.

.

Madam Jin looked at the little brat and the little brat looked at Madam Yu.

When his son started to be happy about being in lotus pier she knew something was off, she had hoped that it was because he was finally getting alone with his fiance but apparently it wasn't.

He was getting alone with the brat that Ziyuan had picked to marry her son.

Her husband bastard.

Apparently after buying the freedom of the mom, the woman decided it was a good idea to tell her who the father was and even give her proof of that, of course Ziyuan decided to keep this information to herself but still choose to tell to her friend just in case.

Madam Jin hadn't really thought anything about it, well it was kind of convenient for her, one less bastard that would want to fight with his son for his right as heir — not that any of that bastard stood a chance but still —

But when she found out about how good her son was getting alone with the bastard she started to get suspicious.

So here they were now, after Ziyuan told her that it will help her to meet the brat before seeing him like a threat.

"Do you know who your father is, boy?" She asked and the boy looked at her confused.

"I don't have a father" he answered quickly.

"That's ridiculous, everyone has a father"

"No, a father is someone who is supposed to take care of you and love you, I don't have one of those, I have a... Sperm donor at best" He said quickly to her surprise.

"Do you know who is yours?"

"Mother tried to tell me a couple of times, I didn't want to listen"

"Why not?"

"Because whoever decided that lie to my mother and fill her heard with false hope just to abandon her, it's a major asshole and I'm better off without him" He answered sincerely.

And well, he wasn't wrong.

"What if he has power?"

"What about it?" He questioned her back. "I don't care about those things, power and money don't bring you happiness" He said sincerely, he had already read and hear way too many tragic tales to know that by heart. "And if you don't believe what I'm saying you can ask to Madam Yu, all she offered me in exchange of marry A-cheng was to free my mom and books, because that's all I care about, book and family" he finalized and Madam Jin looked at her friend who nodded.

"If you help me to convince A-xuan about spending more time with Yanli I'll give you some books with Jin history" she offered and the kids eyed light up.

So, her friend was right, the kid was indeed useful.

.

One day Lan Qiren received a letter from Sect leader Jiang.

Well he actually received two letters.

One was from the sect leader asking him to be nice to his future son in law — or at least that's what he read between lines — and the other was a letter from said future son in law.

Apparently Meng Yao — the future son in law — was very interested in history and was actually working in a book with the updated information about the major sects.

He already had access to data from the Jiang — obviously — the Nie — which was a little surprise — and even the Jin, so now he was asking for the help of the Lan.

Lan Qiren wasn't one to denied knowledge but he was a little intrigued, so before giving any information he ask for a draft of the book in question.

He had being expecting some disorganized book with poor narrative and a lot of lagoons.

He got a master piece in the making instead.

So of course he decided to contribute to this, but... Meng Yao was closer to Lan Zhan age... And his nephew did lack friends and a friend with a bright mind like the one Meng Yao had could always come in handy.

So Lan Qiren gave the job to assist Meng Yao research through letters to his youngest nephew.

.

Lan Zhan had a friend.

He had never met his friend in person but his older brother told him that they if  Lan Zhan considered him a friend and A-Yao consider him a friend too — which he did according to his letter saying exactly that — they were friends.

As him, his friend didn't live with his parents and preferred the company of books instead of people.

But A-Yao had other friends.

He had his A-cheng — who was his future husband —, A-Ying — his self appointed best friend — A-sang — his actually best friend — and his Xuan-ge — his self appointed older brother —

And that made Lan Zhan felt a little insecure, A-Yao already had so many friends, why would he want to be friends with him too?

To this, A-Yao answered that you could have many friends and it was fine, but if he wanted he could be A-Yao little brother since he didn't have one of those.

Lan Zhan already had an older brother, but when asked about it Xichen said he didn't mind having another little brother and shared Lan Zhan with him.

So Lan Zhan now had a two brothers and he thought that it was pretty great.

.

"Why is A-Yao smiling like that?" Asked Wei Ying to Jiang Cheng while they watched the other kid reading a letter.

"He tricked the second young Master of the Lan sect into be his little brother" Answered Nie Huisang who for their annoyance was visiting.

"Why would he do tha— tried to say Wei Ying until he remembered one of the few things the Lan sect was know for.

"The books" the three children murmured.

.

Jiang Cheng had a little crush on his future husband — it was a lie, it was actually a big, fat, crush that had started the first day they met in the street and had only grew up ever since —

In theory that was ideal since they will be spending the rest of their life together — they will get marry as soon as he came of age and he couldn't wait for that — but in practice it translated in him making a fool out of himself in a daily basis in front of his beloved who luckily was so deep in his book research that he seemed to be blind to the mess of a teenager that was his future husband.

Unfortunately, the rest of the sect didn't share this same blindness as Wei Wuxian had so many times told him already while laughing at him.

Friends were so overated if you ask him.

The problem was that Jiang Cheng didn't really have the best role models to know how a proper marriage or romantic relationship was supposed to work.

And since A-Yao had refused a courtship since it mean less research time and they both already knew and agree that they will be wed there wasn't the need for that.

Still... He would have liked to have one so he could have prepared himself a little better, but he didn't want to start his marriage with the wrong foot by going against his fiance wishes so he said that it was fine.

"You should find what he likes" suggested Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng raised an eyebrow. "My pop's used to get this little pastries that he knew my mother loved so he could make her happy"

"I already know what he likes" he said since pretty much everybody in the sect and maybe the Lan, Nie and Jin sect knew what A-Yao liked. "But he already has all the books he could want on the sect library"

"You do know that people has more than one think that they like, right?" Questioned him Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng blushed a little because...

Because fuck, Jiang Cheng was probably the one who knew A-Yao the longest and had never stopped to consider if there was something else that he liked besides books.

He didn't even know his favorite food!

Fuck... Maybe he didn't know his fiance as well as he thought he did.

"Oh Don't look like that" patted his back Wei Wuxian "We can still find out" he reassured him and even if his friendship with Wei Wuxian was founded over their mutual hate of Nie Huisang and later the peacock that was Jin Zixuan, Jiang Cheng was just a little happy to have him on his side.

Maybe friendship did have it's perks.

.

Meng Yao had a problem.

He had hit a wall on his research.

With the help of the Jin, Nie and Lan he had being doing a great job, but there was a point were all their history merged together and he had all sides except for one.

The Wen.

They were the biggest and more powerful of all the Major sects, and because of that it wasn't so easy to just ask information from them the same way he did with the Lan.

The Lan were scholar's they lived for the knowledge and to share it, the Wen were proud of their history but one thing was the history that they told the world and another was the true one.

And A-Yao wanted a book with the true, yes he included folk tales and other things alike but it was because their roots started in some historical fact and they have repercussions in the way that people lived till this day.

He will need to have incredible convincing skill to managed to get information from the Wen's and he probably would only get one chance.

So Meng Yao was very much stressed.

.

Since Jiang Cheng decided to get to know his fiance better he had being watching him even closer than before and he could say that something was wrong with him.

Yes, A-Yao had always tended to lock himself on the library while he did his research but when he started to write his hand never hesitate, he already had every little word planned on his head before even considering start to written it down.

But now? He had locked himself in the library and there was a pile of rejected letters on the floor.

A-Yao was struggling to get the words and he was starting to stress himself to a point that even his Mom was worried for his health.

He wanted to help him, but he didn't know how.

A-Yao was the one who was good with words, the one who was good at convincing people of giving him what he wanted even if he hated talking to other people.

Jiang Cheng knew how to wield a sword and fight, he was the muscle and A-Yao was supposed to be brain.

"Maybe you are missing the heart" Said his sister while he complained to her about his problems.

"What?" He asked a little confused.

"You said it, you are the muscle and A-Yao is the Brain but you are lacking a heart" Yanli explained and suddenly Jiang Cheng thought about their parents.

It was true that they weren't the perfect example of a happy couple, but together they were excellent leader for their sect.

Her mother was the muscle, and his father the heart and together were the brain.

Maybe, if A-Yao was the brain and he was the muscle... Maybe they could be the heart together.

Maybe Jiang Cheng needed to be the heart now.

Meng Yao wasn't sure in what moment his eyes decided to betray him and he finally close them long enough for him to fell asleep but, now he had back pain but he was oddly warm.

He slowly started to open his eyes to looked around and saw that it was already night time and there was only a couple of candles lighting up the Library.

He also noticed that he wasn't alone on the room.

A-cheng was sitting on the floor reading his rejected letter to the Wen and he looked really focused.

And he also noticed that the reason why he was warm and cozy, was because he was pretty much wearing A-cheng utter rob as a blanket.

"Thank you" he said startling his soon to be husband making him drop the letter be was reading.

"I—" he tried to say confused and Meng Yao held a piece of the rob. "It was nothing" he murmured blushing a little.

"Do you like what you are reading?" He asked because maybe he could get some tips? He was that desperate to be honest.

"This is really important for you" Jiang Cheng said for his surprise. "I mean, I always knew that you liked books and history, but this... "He said holding a couple of letter were A-Yao said why the information was so important in a try to convince the Wen. "You really care about all of this" He said with a frown. "Why?" Jiang Cheng finally questioned and that took Meng Yao by surprise.

Not one had ever asked him that before, they have just assumed it was natural for him to like books, that it was just his personality at this point.

"When I was little one of my mother client gave me this book." He said looking through the window. "The book was about the Nie, about how a simple butcher became a cultivator, not for the power or the glory, nor even for the money, but because he wanted to protect his town and family"

Meng Yao paused for a second remembering how maybe for the first and only time he had wanted to become a cultivator, just so he could protect his family too.

"That book gave me hope, that even someone from a lower background could achieve greatness and protect his love one" He finally said looking at Jiang Cheng feeling a little shy suddenly. "And I just.. I want to share that same hope with others and maybe help make this world a little better for everyone" he added a little self conscious looking at his hand feeling a little dumb, he knew it was a silly dream of his but still—

"You are amazing" Jiang Cheng murmured sounding a little out of breath and that made Meng Yao look his way again.

And—

And A-cheng was looking at him like if he hung the stars and the moon with his hands, it was such an adoring and awed expression that A-Yao didn't know how to handle it and just blushed even harder than before.

"I'll help you" He said sounding motivated. "I may not be good with words but I have being train to know how a sect leader thinks and I can help you redact that a letter that not even Wen Ruohan could reject" he said with confidence that made Meng Yao gain his back again.

So Meng Yao grabbed his brush, they had a letter to write.

.

Jiang Cheng was in sword practice with Wei Wuxian and most of the disciple when he heard someone screamed his name and footsteps running in his direction.

"What— he didn't have time to ask because he suddenly have his hands full with his too excited fiance.

"He agreed! A-cheng he agreed!" Exclaimed excited and happy A-Yao and it took him a second to know what he was talking about.

"We did it?" He asked shocked and he watched his A-Yao nodding. "We did it!" He cheered grabbing A-Yao even tighter and actually lifting him from the floor making him giggle while their twirled celebrating their victory.

And they would have probably celebrated a little longer if it weren't for the fact that he still was in the middle of training and Wei Wuxian and the other disciple started to whistle and clap at them.

Morons

With a little bit of reluctance Jiang Cheng put A-Yao on the ground, looking extremely embarrassed.

"What are you looking at?! I'll break your legs!" He screamed at the disciples.

"Oh come on! You look so cute together!" Mocked one of the disciples and Jiang Cheng was about to go an kick his ass when he felt hands grabbing the neck of his uniform.

"A-Yao—

"If they want a show they can taste vinegar" his fiance said and before A-cheng could process his words, soft lips were on his, pressing softly and a little awkward.

It was his first kiss — and for the little awkwardness he could say that it was A-Yao first too and he could never fully describe how much happiness that thought gave him —

And it was over before he could do something.

"Thank you" A-Yao murmured a little shy and with a soft blush on his cheek before giving a smug look at the disciples and going back from where he came from.

And if A-cheng had any doubt before, that kiss probe him all he always knew.

All he needed to be happy was to have his A-Yao at his side.

And he couldn't wait to marry him.
