Shokan no Suzuri

Summary:

Sumi, unlike most demons of the time, was content with laying low and scavenging corpses for food rather than hunting. That is, until she discovers a strange picture book that gives insight into the world she lives in.

Now caught up in an intertwined story connected to a mysterious author, a bribed middleman, and what happens when a split path occurs, Sumi may change the entire series by simply being a part of it.

AKA: What happens if you give a demon the power to read the manga that they are in?

Originally called Kekkijutsu: Kokai Suru

Currently ON BREAK to figure out the rest of the story and to work on other projects

Chapter Text

Disclaimer: this is a really stupid fic. Also I literally got the idea at 10pm and am typing it on a tablet.

I don't own demon slayer.

...

Rather than confront humans directly, Sumi instead turned to grave robbing to survive. She had no idea how or when she started, but for a long time, she only ate the recently deceased, digging them out of the ground as soon as the funerary rites were done.

Of course it was disgusting, but she survived off of it. Her combat skills were not sharp enough to even hunt babies, but she was able to consume and develop due to the corpses she ate. She didn't know if she had ever killed anyone, yet she didn't remember.

She thought life would be peaceful, dig up a grave one every few days, rest in a makeshift shelter with the leftovers, move on to another town if necessary, so on and so on. However, life isn't so simple now, isn't it?

...

"Hah, A little demon girl! Should be easy enough,"

A cocky face atop a weak body, this narcissist had somehow tracked her. Sumi was sure that no one knew of her existence and that she buried the graves nice and neat afterwords, so she had no explanation.

Fearful, she managed to think fearfully of her desire to fight back, to escape, to survive.

Kekkijutsu: Kokai Suru

blood demon art: publish

Surprisingly for Sumi, and disappointingly for the slayer, the only sign of any blood demon art was the formation of a stack of paper from the blood puddle.

Sumi quickly picked it up, revealing one end having an adhesive, meaning you could flip through the other end, like a western-style book. A drop of bright red blood dribbled from Sumi's hand and onto the paper, staining and spreading out and darkening.

However, Sumi didn't care, as she had a slayer to stop. While he was frozen in confusiin, she chucked the book as hard as she could at the sister's face, knocking him out.

She dragged him to the edge of the town, where he would hopefully only wake up to the confused townsfolk.

Looking up, Sumi realized that it was a few hours until sunrise. She had to start heading back now, or she wouldn't make it to the temporary cave she had been staying in the past week. At the start of the next month, Sumi would have to run to a new town.

Stumbling over the dropped book, she now noticed the ink lines. On the front they started turning a dark orange and green, while all of the inside blood/ink was black. Images were starting to form. The front looked like a pair of children.?

Soon, words started forming as well. Sumi read the title and other words on the cover.

'Kimetsu no Yaiba (1: Zankoku) - Koyoharu Gotoge)

Sumi stuck the strange book into the back of her obi, before heading uphill.S he could read it in the cave that day. Plus she could snack on some stale thigh meat while doing so...

Notes:

This is really really dumb. However, I will probably continue this one I get some sleep. Btw, "Sumi" means "ink" according to google translate.
