Staring.
He could stare at Y/N all day and never get bored. Not because they could never be still in one place, but because just by the fact they were being them he could visualize a wonderland in their skin and a whole new path under every action they did.
Sometimes their friends would make fun of him because of the staring. He'd feel his cheeks burn and look away. What more could he do? It wasn't like he did it on purpose!
“Why are you staring, angel?”
Y/N whispered, nudging Spencer with their elbow softly. They didn't even avert their eyes from the book, but the attention was clearly somewhere else now.
Spencer cleared his throat, looking down at his hands quickly. “Nothing.”
Y/N glances up, eyebrows raised, “You sure?”
His throat seemed tight all of a sudden. “Ye- yes,” He gets up, making Y/N tilt their head while watching him walk away.
Y/N shrugs, going back to the book.
Touches.
Spencer had felt a pair of eyes analyzing him all day. He would admit that now, he was starting to feel self-conscious.
“Y/N?”
The agent hums in a reply; a distracted answer for someone that had their eyes glued to the geographical locations in front of them.
Spencer takes the pen away from between their lips slowly, causing Y/N to look at him confused. “Do you know how many germs you can get from this little thing?”
They send a roll of eyes in his direction and exhale, “I'm still alive, ain't I, genius?”
“Is there something on my face or on me bothering you? You've been staring at me all day and I haven't figured out why, yet...”
He watches them turn white little by little, puppy eyes going wide as if they had been caught off guard. He steps towards her cautiously, “Are you—”
“I'm sorry!” Y/N covers their face with a hand, giving a shake of head in complete shame. “Jesus, was I that obvious? I'm so sorry I made you uncomfortable, Reid.”
“What—Y/N, that's not,”
“It's just— your hair.” Y/N gulps, pausing before carrying on, “It's— it's been falling in your eyes all the time... I thought that maybe- I was thinking-”
He knits his eyebrows. My hair was the problem?
“I was thinking about asking to...” they study his face a bit, then they finally let out, “To braid it, for you? Or- or make a bun. So it wouldn't bother you that much.”
Spencer couldn't help but find the situation a little funny.
“You want to braid my hair?”
Y/N bit their cheek, slightly ashamed, “Yeah, I know it's ridiculous. Give me my pen back—”
“No, it's okay. You can.” He responded, retracting fast before they could snatch the object from his hand. That was more eager than I wanted it to be... Spencer ponders.
They blink in surprise, “Really?”
“Yes. We still have some time until we deliver the profile, so it should do, right?” He said while sitting down in a chair, with his back to them. He heard a soft laugh behind him.
“It doesn't take that long, Spence.”
When their fingers begin to brush down his strands, his eyes flutter shut almost immediately. “I'm not hurting you, am I?”
“No. Keep going.”
Home.
Spencer learned home wasn't necessarily a place, could be many things: a person, a book, a hobby, your favorite food...
To him, home meant Y/N.
“Hey, sweet boy.” Y/N kisses his neck, making goosebumps travel through his body. Spencer groans sleepily, giving more space to them. Y/N smirks tracing her thumb down his neck and back. “You want to stay in bed all day?”
He mumbles It's our day off with his face buried in the pillow.
Y/N sighed, laying their body on his completely, “Get up!”
The bed begins to shake with his laugh. Y/N frowns, “This isn't a joke, sir—”
Y/N gasped when he turns around, arms wrapping around their waist pulling them to his chest. “Five more minutes,” He presses, one eye open and one closed. He was barely awake yet.
They giggle, nodding. “Fine. But I planned our whole day today so nothing more than—” he interrupts their ramblings with a kiss. “... five minutes...” they finish in a daze.
The corners of his lips raise a little at the reaction. He pecks their lips one more time and adjusts his body so they're more tangled up. Burying their face in the safe spot on Spencer's neck, they keep in mind that it will be a nap of five minutes.
No more than two hours later...
It's important to say that, these were the first actions that made him fall in love with them, but, they weren't the only ones. The list was wild. There were a diversity of words, touches, aspects that made him feel at home, just where he belonged when he was by their side.
They had the rest of their lives to dig out more of their love language for each other. He'd never ever get tired of it.
