Work Header

we can make out during the scary parts

Summary:

Jude shivered, chuckling slightly. “God how are your hands always so cold?” He bit his lip as Sawyer slowly trailed his hand up, pushing his shirt as he went. He stopped to run his thumb along the scars on Jude’s chest, causing another shiver to travel down Jude’s spine.

“Well you’d better warm me up then,” Sawyer smirked, meeting Jude’s gaze.

Continuation of Dressed up all Darlin' in which my boys make out on the couch.

Notes:

  • Sawyer is partially mute and uses both signing and magical bracelets to communicate. The bracelets allow them to project their thoughts to anyone they’re touching.
  • Sawyer’s pronouns are he/they, and I do switch between them as the story goes on, but I try to keep it consistent within each paragraph.
  • Jude is trans and has had top surgery.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

They cleaned up quickly. Working together to get the lipstick stains off each other, making sure the lingerie was soaking ( “We wouldn’t want it to get ruined after just one use,” Jude had said cheekily). Jude helped Sawyer unbraid his hair, and then quickly showered off together. Well, maybe not so quickly because Jude took every opportunity to steal kisses before Sawyer finally pushed him away, telling him to focus on the task at hand because he wanted to drink wine damnit . They changed into comfortable pajamas, Jude playfully ribbing Sawyer for wearing one of his old sweatshirts.

“Listen if you didn’t want me to wear it then don’t leave it unattended in my room,” Sawyer signed at Jude as he laughed.

“Oh it’s not a complaint darlin’. You know how I like it when you wear my clothes,” Jude winked and pressed a quick kiss to Sawyer’s cheek, soothing the teasing.

Eventually they settled comfortably on the couch. Sawyer sat with their feet curled under them, an arm thrown over Jude’s shoulders. Jude laid a blanket across their legs as Sawyer pulled up the movie. They picked one they hadn’t seen, or at least was pretty sure they hadn’t seen. They all ran together at some point. The movie started and Sawyer leaned back. Jude handed them their wine glass, which they took gratefully. They took a long sip, relishing the flavor.

“You were right. This was a good idea,” Sawyer projected as he turned and pressed a kiss to Jude’s temple.

Jude beamed, sipping from his own glass. “I knew you’d like it.” He squeezed Sawyer’s knee under the blanket. “Now just sit back and enjoy the movie. And don’t worry, the offer still stands to make out during the scary parts.”

Sawyer almost choked on his wine. He spurted and whipped his head to stare at Jude. “The scary parts? Of Hallmark movies?”

Jude met their gaze and with a very serious expression and replied, “Heterosexuals are terrifying, Sugar.”

Sawyer burst into laughter and Jude’s facade cracked quickly. He joined in, chuckling along until they both settled down. Sawyer gave Jude a quick peck on the lips, “Well I’m glad you’re here to protect me then, Sunshine.”

Jude chuckled lightly. “Damn right, Sugar. Now you just sit back, enjoy that wine and just let me know when things get a little too overwhelming for you.” Jude winked.

They settled in more comfortably together and turned their attention back to the movie. They talked easily, making stupid commentary over even stupider plot points. Sawyer’s free hand ended up combing through Jude’s hair. When Sawyer finished their first glass of wine, Jude dutifully refilled it, rewarded with a kiss on the cheek.

Sawyer could feel the warmth of alcohol spreading through his chest. By the time he finished his second glass, he was floating comfortably. Although he couldn’t attribute all the warmth to just the wine. Jude was a radiator, a furnace, and as Sawyer often put, his own personal heater. Almost as if Jude could read his mind, he snuggled in closer, leaning more heavily on Sawyer’s shoulder, hair brushing his neck. Sawyer wrapped his arm more firmly around Jude. Jude let out an appreciative hum.

Sawyer wasn’t sure he could be more content than at this moment. Sure, earlier was great, fantastic even, but Jude was right. They hadn’t gotten time to just themselves in what felt like weeks. Sure they were together most of the time, but there was either work or roommates standing in the way of true alone time. And this, this , just being content in each other's presence, no pressure from the outside world, was what they both truly enjoyed.

Sawyer’s heart swelled, overcome with emotion. He buried his face in the top of Jude’s head. Jude made an inquisitive hum and linked his free hand with Sawyer’s.

“What’s up, Sugar? Need more wine?” Jude started to pull away, reaching for the bottle on the table.

Sawyer stopped him. Pulling him back with an arm around his waist. Sawyer pressed his face into the back of Jude’s neck.

“Sawyer? Is something wrong?” Jude sounded genuinely concerned, bless him. They stayed frozen together like that for a moment.

“Yes,” Sawyer projected, a sly smile starting to tug at their lips. They slide their hand up to cup Jude’s jaw, turning his face towards them. Jude had his eyebrows knitted together, watching Sawyer carefully. “I’m terribly frightened. Won’t you distract me from the big, scary, painfully straight romance plot?”

A smile broke out on Jude’s face as Sawyer finished their sentence, understanding clicking into place. “Oh I think that can be arranged.” He pulled away, taking Sawyer’s glass from their hand and placing it on the table next to his.

Jude turned back, and they both leaned in towards each other, mouths meeting halfway. They kissed unhurriedly, lips softly parting, pulling back slightly only to come back together quickly, as if drawn by gravity to each other. Jude brought his hands up to cup Sawyer’s face, thumb rubbing along his cheekbones. Sawyer hummed, pressing in closer to Jude. He wrapped his arms around Jude’s waist, and slowly started tipping him back. They broke apart, breathing heavily as Sawyer lowered Jude to lie on his back against the couch. He smiled down at him, admiring the blush starting to creep across Jude’s face. Sawyer crept a hand between them to splay across the warm skin under the edge of Jude’s shirt.

Jude reached his hands up and tangled them in Sawyer’s hair, pulling him down and locking their mouths together once again. Sawyer went easily, pressing himself into Jude. This round of kisses was more heated than the last but still had a languid quality. Neither of them push to rush this, or even pass this. They had already taken their fill earlier, and while Sawyer could feel arousal tingling at the base of his spine, he felt more than satisfied. This was the journey and the goal in one. This was them, drinking each other in, drowning in each other for as long as they could handle.

Sawyer ran their hands up Jude’s chest, feeling every scar, every bump, mapping out his body with their hands. Jude shuddered, breath stuttering as he pulled away slightly. He tilted his head up to press kisses along Sawyer’s jaw line. His hands tightened in Sawyer’s hair, nails scraping their scalp lightly. Sawyer melted, warmth spreading from the touch all the way down to their toes. They tilted their chin, catching Jude’s lips again.

Sawyer leans down and rests their foreheads together, eyes closed as they catch their breath. They can feel Jude’s breath against their cheek, panting just as hard as they are. Jude runs a hand down their neck, settling to rub small circles into their back. Sawyer hums appreciatively. Jude leans up, brushing his lips to Sawyer’s ear.

“So, Honey…” Sawyer could hear the smirk in Jude’s words. “Are you still scared?”

Sawyer glanced over at the TV, making note that it looked like the main man was confessing his undying love to the heroine. He shuddered dramatically and buried his face in the hollow of Jude’s throat.

“Yes,” Sawyer projected. “I need you to protect me.” He poorly suppressed the giggle that tumbled out of his throat as he put on his best “damsel in distress” voice.

Jude laughed, bright and clear. “Don’t worry, Sugar, your knight in shining armor is here.” Jude settled his fingers back in Sawyer’s hair, pulling him back down.

“My hero,” Sawyer projected, their mouth curled in a smile as they met Jude’s lips again.
