It's another Saturday that Perry is supposed to have off, but of course, the beeping of his watch wakes him up at 5 am.
Heinz groans beside him and pulls the pillow over his head when Perry's watch goes off. "Of course, it's a mission again." He scoffs and the agent feels awful.
Things have been tense for a while and Heinz had been distant lately.. he didn't even cuddle up to him last night.
He takes the call, Monogram's voice commanding that he gets to work. Some villain escaped their prisons and he's needed. Additionally, they need to talk about something, and Monogram does sound like he has some good news. Maybe he gets a break finally, so he can try and make things up to his husband.
Perry signs off. He's irritated and stressed, barely sleeping nowadays, the circles under his eyes are proof of that.
Ever since he's not Heinz's nemesis he feels burned out. He's overworked even more than he was while he was fighting his evil scientist.
He and Heinz agreed that Perry doesn't need another permanent nemesis, it's not like he loved the idea, to begin with, Heinz has just been a very good match. Now though, he has no desire to get another permanent nemesis. He only wants to do other missions, help out others or even work solo.
And Yet, Agent P has a hard time saying no to his boss. Maybe it's the fact he's like a father figure to him, and he doesn't want him to be disappointed in him. Plus he doesn't want to lose the respect of his coworkers. There is another thing though. When he started to realize that Heinz had become a bit distant, he threw himself even more into work. He had the opportunity to, he took it but he feels bad about it.
He snaps out of his train of thought and starts to dress up, not even glancing at Heinz. He doesn't dare to.
Heinz doesn't say anything just pulls the covers tighter on himself, pretending to go back to sleep but he knows he won't be able to.
Perry sighs and taps his shoulder to get his attention
"See you later, I'll be quick, promise" he signs but in reality, he doesn't know when he'll get back.
"Yeah, just like always." Heinz huffs, not even turning to look at him. "See you at absurd hours at the night " he mutters.
Retorts are in the tip of his tongue, but it's not like he can say them anyway. He's right, he can make promises all he wants, if he can't keep them.
Perry thinks back to the times he would give him a good-bye kiss and they would hold onto each other a little longer. It was like that in the beginning and he misses it. He doesn't dare to attempt that anymore, afraid that Heinz would pull back.
In the end, he just gets up and leaves him there.
