beautiful on your knees (and in my arms)

Summary:

When Choi San gets accidentally hired to protect the crown prince Kang Yeosang, he tried his best to do his duty diligently, despite the fact that he is an omega in secret and it is risky. He is bent on getting out of the gig in a month, trying not to get any attention- but that all fails when he keeps thinking about one strong careless alpha.

Notes:

Oookay, let's get this, I haven't written sansang pairing before, unlike san, yunho and wooyoung, I haven't observed much of other members' characters to get it right. I have always wanted to write prince!yeo so I gave it a try but idk I feel it's a bit ooc? also bodyguard omega? I mean how cool is that? I wanted yeo to be a bit more of an asshole... but unlike other members, yeo really doesn't give that vibes so I lightened his character a bit. Also, it might seem a bit stiff, I mean the flow of words- since I don't really write descriptive fics (this isn't my style) and woosan and yunsan are the pairing I am most free with- so uh, yeah, not really satisfied with this one, but it's like a 7.8k dump... I decided to upload it. Lemme know how you like it, I am totally okay with putting this down if it's not good lol I am still wary of yeo's character in this haha.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It was an accident, San can’t believe he let it go this far, but it was a situation he couldn’t have avoided, no matter what. Becoming part of crowned prince’s bodyguards was definitely not on his to-do list, to be honest, it was way down even on the not-to-do list- or up- whatever. But when the queen requested his services for a month, until the coronation takes place- San wasn’t really in the position to deny. Wooyoung warned him, told him to just let the royalty know he is an omega, but San couldn’t do that, his gig would be up and he so happens to like action- just not on such a high level.

Mingi apologized for causing him trouble- it really wasn’t his fault, when the alpha had a serious injury on his right leg, he asked for his help, to be part of the security for the annual gala royalties take part in. A commotion forced San to deal with the intruder, basically saving a prince of other nationality- being deemed as ‘hero’ of the day- and somehow the queen took interest in him, deciding he was a good match for keeping the crowned prince safe. Though San could tell it was a demand in disguise of request, and he had no choice. Of course, he made sure to agree on one condition, he’d only work for a month as he has a family to take care of and other things. The queen wasn’t keen, but she agreed to let him go as soon as the month ends, with which the coronation would too.

And that’s how he found himself in front of the prince, all blond majestic hair, falling delicately on his shoulder, navy blue vest on a white shirt, a dark blue coat hanging over him as he made his way through the many guards the queen has put for the prince. He remembered thinking how beautiful the prince was, like someone out of a fairy tale, thinking how befitting for an omega. He did scold himself for stereotyping but damn was the prince just enchanting, San could barely take his eyes off. He knew Kang Yeosang was a dream of many people, has heard about him a little before, but he never really imagined how surreal he would look.

But the moment shattered completely as Yeosang passed by him, his strong heavy scent of coffee dominating the room, his pheromones even making alphas bow down their heads- the prince was an alpha.

San knew he fucked up. He fucked up real bad.

“He is Choi San, a beta, and part of the security” Hongjoong, an alpha, and in charge of the security introduces.

Especially when the prince’s alluring hazel eyes fell on him, something grasped at San’s throat as the prince kept staring, like he was seeing through him, like he was laid bare in front of his eyes, the red appearing and fading just as quickly. Yeosang smirked. San knew it was over, or about to be, but he held on to his resolve, standing straight and even despite the panic raging inside. He never worked for alphas, only omegas or betas, alphas don’t really require protection, it was his rule. He just assumed the prince would be an omega- with how he looked-

He should have paid attention.

This was the first time he regretted being a hermit, Wooyoung always reprimanded him for being so unaware of his surroundings, of people, but San never cared, never needed to, until now.

~*~

At first, nothing really happened, he was stationed right in front of the prince’s door, only him and then another few guards a minute away from the gigantic room. The week passed by with Yeosang barely acknowledging his existence, bringing omegas, betas- even alphas into his room while he guarded the place. The noises coming through the door at times made his blood rush south. San learned Yeosang was nothing like the tabloids said, or anyone really- he was scathingly honest, sarcastic, helluva strong, and unappreciatively unbothered. He truly didn’t care about the chaos he causes, he didn’t hesitate to show how he feels, his face too expressive when it comes to anger and demeaning but too closed off when it came to real emotions. San feels out of depth in his presence, doesn’t know how to act, Yeosang doesn’t even need anyone to protect him, not with how he can easily bring ten alphas to their knees without trying.

But San stays clear of the prince, he has his secret to protect and alphas like Yeosang were bad for his business, no matter how infatuated he feels with the unyielding prince, no matter how much his scent effect his medicated to feel a nothing-omega body, no matter how San jerked off in the bathroom with images of the blonde prince sneaking into his head, making him come like nothing before. San is confused, he thinks maybe it's because he is in the presence of a strong alpha- but it wouldn’t be an entire truth as Yeosang is not the only strong alpha in the royal family- and San feels fine in other’s presence.

San had begged for his own room, away from the prince, among the servants- he had no privacy among the alphas and betas in the shared room, and sleeping in a room filled with alpha’s pheromones was dangerous. He couldn’t risk it, despite the medicines, when he gets hard and tries to rub one off, the slick gushing out of him- his scent of lavender and honey has filled the bathroom when the prince had left for a day, and San just wanted a relief- he was too winded. He obviously couldn’t jerk off in the shared room, and he had access to the prince’s room- with the alpha bringing omegas to his place- he thought it would be discrete enough. After the high rushed off, panic sat in, his scent was stinking the bathroom with no doubt that it belonged to an omega. He had tried to get it out, barely succeeding as Yeosang still sniffed it, his eyes bleeding red at his scent while San tried to hang on for the sake of his survival. The prince had demanded which omega came into his room, walls cracking and furniture shaking at his aggression but San didn’t reply, couldn’t reply, trembling on his knees, choking as the pheromones pushed him down. He didn’t understand why Yeosang got so worked up over his stupid floral scent, he has slept with omegas that smelled like spring and ocean- why would he care about something so plain like his scent? He ignored the whole event, he cannot get involved, he cannot afford to.

And yet, when his mind determined this decision, he was taken aback at how much his heart ached.

It was too much, the unfamiliar longing sitting inside his heart, the ache settling all over him for someone he had barely met, barely knew. San kept his mouth shut when Yeosang asked him about the new change, him moving out of the given chambers, simply shrugging it away. The prince eyed him, and San was reminded of the first time he met Yeosang, looking at him with those intense eyes, undressing his soul for the world to see- he gulped, turning away. He can’t do this.

The second week started out fine, Yeosang ignoring his existence, nothing out of sorts happening- which was suspicious in itself, San doubts the chaos would come as the coronation nears. San continued jerking off, fingering himself when Yeosang’s pheromones got too much for him, though the aftermath is filled with guilt, San is unable to stop himself from craving more. His medicines are not working properly, he had to double his dose and realized later he will have to refill it again- which creates another panic. The place is messing with everything he knew, he was and it was getting harder to keep up the façade. He misses Wooyoung, his familiar grounding scent, his warm touch that eases out San’s overthinking, his worries, like a weight being lifted off his shoulders. He misses Wooyoung scenting him, whispering ‘my sweet omega’ softly. You’d think with the way he works, how he works, he wouldn’t need such sentiments- but he is an omega in his core, and no matter how much he runs from his identity, he will have to confront it sooner than later. But what terrifies him, his longing for the prince was starting to run deeper than him missing Wooyoung, which is a miracle as San was never able to bring himself to care about anyone more than his family and Wooyoung.

Others started noticing his mood, annoyed and sour, though he was taking his job seriously, it was getting out of his hand to control his pheromones. He thinks it’s because of doubling his meds- but really, he is well aware of the cause inside. Hongjoong notices too, giving him questioning stares as he passes by, hell, even Yeosang picked up on it. San is so embarrassed, he wants to die. The omega holds his breath and waits, the week is about to end, only a few more days, and everything will be back to normal, the anxiety, the ache- they all will disappear. He just needs to wait.

Of course, that’s when it all crashes down.

Of course.

San wants to cry.

The job was more than fine, he was good at observing, nothing going past his vision- he was able to identify three anomalies in the castle, for which the queen revered his capability. He kept up his training whenever there was downtime, easily defeating all the alphas and betas in the security- he realizes he shouldn’t draw so much attention to himself belatedly, he hates losing but he should have been careful. His omega inside reminds him again, disregarding his excuses as Yeosang’s eyes bores into him, watching him fight in interest.

He was trying to impress. Fuck.

Finally, it was Saturday night, just one more day for the third week to begin, San was agitated, being on guard for far too long. Despite the different room, San still had to be way too careful- some servants assumed he brought an omega to his room, giving him sly smiles and scurrying away- San just swallows nervously and moves to work. The royal family was visiting some sort of function, a private one, and they were supposed to be back on Monday, San remembers sighing in relief, only to duck in embarrassment when Hongjoong looks at him curiously. Not many would be in the castle, not many prying eyes, so San decides to lay low on his pills, taking a single dose as before and leisurely opening himself up. He had asked the servants to give him some privacy, letting them assume he was gonna fuck someone. It was better.

He feels good, doubling the pills was definitely not a good idea, as he thrusts three fingers in, his slick coming out more than usual, the room starting to smell like lavender- he sighs in comfort, his tense muscles loosening the more San relaxes and gives in to his desire. The thrill is too much sometimes, he wishes for alpha in these times, only Wooyoung had fucked him once- before he presented and San could never forget that feeling. But being a proclaimed beta had its downsides.

He had sunk into the mattress, moaning in low voices, trying to muffle his sounds in the pillow just for precaution, fastening his speed as he shoots white liquid all over his stomach. It's still not enough even if he hadn’t come off the high. The blanket he stole from Yeosang’s room, thick with the prince’s scent, is draped over him as he hardens again. There’s a dildo in the bottom drawer, San thinks of using it, but he is too shy, too much of a prude to do it on his own. He pumped himself in quick motions, too impatient for the sweet release, taking deep sniffs of bitter coffee, groaning loudly when he comes in a few rubs. The room is now completely soaked in his scent, honey dripping from the air and lavender swirling around the room. San checks the clock, it’s nine pm, the servants must be preparing their bed, calling it a night. He isn’t entirely satisfied, but the scent of the alpha had taken an edge off him, and he feels slightly sated, guilt hanging in the air- he hates himself for using Yeosang’s things without his permission- but it was that or risking himself. The blanket doesn’t smell like coffee anymore, his scent prominent instead.

“Shit, I have hit a new low” He mutters miserably.

He hurriedly starts cleaning up, has no interest in getting caught despite knowing no higher-ups would bother checking on him tonight. The ventilation system in this room is not good, he can only get rid of the smell of sex that looms heavily in the air, but the hint of lavender is still dominating the place. He takes a cold shower, changing into worn-out shorts and Wooyoung’s thin tank top (the familiar scent of his best friend calms him down). It was too hot. He had made sure not to dirty the blanket with his load so it was thankfully clean, his bed sheet was not so lucky, throwing his spoiled clothes and sheet in the laundry, he finally relaxed on the clean mattress, towel slung over his neck.

He pushes the urge to call Wooyoung, he isn’t allowed to interact with anyone outside of the castle, only a letter once a week. Fortunately, Martha, one of the servant betas, messaged him to tell him not to fall asleep or be ‘busy’ as she is going to drop by to give his letter. San wants to say it’s okay if she gives tomorrow, but he is missing the alpha, and the letter might just soothe him. He is giddy, waiting, suddenly the mattress feels more comfortable as he lays back, content. He had taken a suppressant that hides his symptoms instead of completely blocking it. Unless there is a strong alpha in the vicinity, he’d be as fine as a daisy, since the royalties were coming back on Monday, San had time to get comfy in his skin- even for a small while.

There is a knock on his door, his eyes opening slightly at the noise, he was almost asleep. He grumbled, sinking further into Yeosang’s blanket, coffee almost faded from it, Martha just leaves whatever she brings on the doorstep after a knock. He would get up later.

There is another knock, this one louder, and San whines, another one following by. He pushes off the soft blanket, eyes laced with sleep, opening the door with an annoyed huff. He’s about to whine some more when he hears a low growl, eyes flying open in surprise as dread settles in.

“Y-Your highness?” San shutters, taken aback at the sudden appearance of the prince- at this side of the palace, trying his best to resist closing the door on his face. He didn’t even pay attention to his state, clad only in shorts and thin top, his black hair still damp from the shower, courtesy of not using a hairdryer. Yeosang’s about to reply, his lips moving before he stops suddenly, sniffing at a peculiar smell. San freezes.

“Who?” The prince growls, and San can barely stop the shudder that passes throughout his body, hands clenching to control his emotions. Before San can process what Yeosang means, the prince was already barging inside, pushing his bodyguard back into the room as he locks the door. He looks angry, possessive- San has no idea what’s happening.

“Wh-What?” He finds his voice again when he realizes he hadn’t replied yet, he itches to cover himself, feeling underdressed, exposed in front of Yeosang. There is an irritated growl, and San flinches at the ferocity, gulping in fear as Yeosang looks around, eyes bleeding red.

“Who was in this room?” the words are aggressive, eyes looking at him with scorn. San doesn’t know what he means, but he can register his tone of jealousy, and he gets even more confused- why the hell was the prince jealous? And for what? San shakes his head in reply, nobody came into his room except Martha. “Who were you fucking?” San physically takes a step back at the force with which Yeosang speaks, feels the whole room shaking at the sheer intensity, as sudden memory of a similar experience crosses his mind- the prince had acted like this once before.

“N-No one, your highness. Uh- there was no one” he tries to be firm but his voice comes out broken, throat dry, his senses becoming sharp as he felt the suppressant’s effect losing. Shit. He needs to end this. “P-Please leave” he almost whimpers when he dare speak those words, Yeosang’s eyes flashes in anger, in irritation, then they fall on his bed- something flickering inside them as recognition fills it whole. San curses himself.

It was the prince’s blanket. Of course, the alpha would know it.

Then he is moving towards it, his brow raised at San who is not holding onto himself very well. The lavender is strong there, especially in the blanket, fused completely with coffee.

“No one?” Yeosang asks to confirm like he has a theory. San nods, doesn’t think there is any way he could lie to the prince. There’s a barrage of emotions passing on Yeosang’s face, San is taken aback to be able to witness it, the prince isn’t the one to be free with his feelings.

“Mother told me to let you know I was back, as you’re my supposed bodyguard,” Yeosang says instead, his eyes lingering on San’s body for a few seconds, taking in his long pale legs and could make out the small waist under the very thin tank top, reflected from the light. “Well then, see you” He turns and walks away.

San stays stuck on the spot, for a minute or two before he realizes it really happened, the whole episode from just a while ago. Why would Yeosang bother telling him that? He falls to the ground after the shock wears off, totally puzzled, and drained. Even if the alpha didn’t say anything, San has a feeling he knows- knows about him. Chills spread over his body, everything fading into panic as it gets hard to breathe, his vision blurring at the haunting feeling residing inside him.

Of course, the only time he allows himself to indulge, shit hit the fan. God, he wants to talk to Wooyoung, he is so scared for the first time in a long while, he feels helpless and lost. What would happen tomorrow? Will they throw him in the prison? Will he even get to meet his family before they do? Oh, fuck- what if they think he is a spy with the coronation coming up?

His hands were shaking, the distress mixing in the air- San attempts to take deep breaths but he can barely keep up, eyes becoming wet.

San finally calms down, his body still feeling heavy but at least he could breathe, he looked longingly at his bed, soft white furry blanket sitting there innocently. Well, if it was his last day, he should just get back to bed, he would deal with what comes tomorrow, he had no energy to think anymore, too tired to milk more awful scenarios.

Apparently, he should have been slightly more worried, maybe call up some people to make sure he wasn’t gonna be made disappear.

There was a knock on the floor, only one, that specified it was probably Martha on the other side. He didn’t even get to sit straight before she was coming inside, closing the door behind her.

“So, San-ssi, I don’t know how to tell you this-”

San’s heartbeat starts picking up the moment those words left her mouth, so it was something bad.

“Just- uh- just tell me”

“I was told that the prince ordered you to move out from this room, with all your belongings.” Her voice held pity, San sighs. “And also, the head told me to let you know your presence is required- in prince’s room? Sir Kim will talk to you about this”

“T-Thanks, Martha”

“It will be okay, San-ssi”

Fuck.

“Choi, what the hell happened?” Hongjoong asks, once they are out of earshot, in his cabin, the head staring at him intensely. San had come to like the alpha, despite his build, he was far more capable than most of the alphas he knows, and he is good at leading his squad. Good at commanding. He had been the one helping San out most of his two weeks, Mingi was his close friend- the other alpha must have put in a word for him. “Him asking you to move out, wanting to drop your name from the security? I know for a fact there was nothing wrong a day before.” San’s stomach drops, so the prince knows.

“I- hyung,” San thinks about what he should say, if Hongjoong is not aware of why Yeosang did this, that means nobody knows about him being an omega. “…I have been good in fulfilling my duties, whatever expected of me, but if I may have accidentally offended him- I don’t know” that seems safe for now. Hongjoong makes a tired face, he looks pale and exhausted, he must be, with the coming coronation on their head. Plus Hongjoong is in charge of the whole security, San cannot imagine the weight of his responsibilities.

“I don’t know what Yeosang is thinking” The alpha mutters, San is surprised at the use of the prince’s name but he doesn’t say anything. “Even the queen doesn’t know, you’re a capable man so I don’t want to lose you from the squad, at least till everything blows over. But if he is adamant, there’s only so much I can do”

“It’s fine, hyung, I can leave- don’t worry about it” San honestly won’t mind, as long as his secret is safe. He does feel a pang in his heart at the possibility of leaving-

Leaving Yeosang, you mean?

Damn it.

“I am sorry, Choi” Hongjoong apologizes “I will arrange things for you, first go meet Yeosang, he wants to talk to you. Don’t worry too much, I have got your back. Mingi made me responsible for you”

“Thanks, hyung” And San truly feels grateful for the alpha in front of him, feels as if someone is really by his side.

As instructed by Hongjoong, San is on his way to Yeosang’s room, his heart thudding loudly against his chest and hands trembling because of the supposed confrontation. He takes deep breaths in an attempt to calm down- it's barely working, but what to expect? His brows knit in confusion as he passes by the hall to Yeosang’s room, why were there no guards standing? Not just one or two, the whole passage was quiet with no one in sight. He straightened up, his instincts telling him to be ready for a fight. So the opposite party has finally decided to attack.

All the fidgety feelings inside him disappear the moment reality sets in, his hands steady and eyes sharpening, with a ready stance, he approached the prince’s room, ears trying to listen from all the direction- someone could jump him in the middle, he needs to be prepared.

The too peaceful atmosphere makes him uncomfortable, no servants going on about, nothing, was anyone even aware? He doubts it. Thankfully, he still has the steel flexible rod with him, though his preferred style is close combat, he has a duty to protect the prince- even if the alpha doesn’t need it. The next moment, he hears a crash and footsteps.

Damn it.

He hurries, running fast towards the door, all worries of the previous night forgotten as he lunges through the hallway, tackling the first person he sees, covered all in black with a fully clothed face. The opponent groans, trying to get the upper hand from his bigger build but San is swift in action, using instant blow before the other can recenter. When he jumped, he had already decided to take the neck hostage, a point on the back of the neck, a bit away from the ears can essentially knock a person out. He looks around, wondering if there would be more attackers but see no one coming towards him.

San is quick to fling open the door, heaving, as he looks at the prince who looks bored and another person, dressed just like the person who attacked him, there is a dagger in his hand. San inhales sharply, the man is not on his knees yet so it's someone strong, he has no doubt Yeosang can manage, but he isn’t sure if the prince can escape unscathed. San wouldn’t let him take the chance. He observes them, they were fighting, too fast for his eyes to actually understand- both were alphas- and really strong- except the opponent had a dagger and Yeosang didn’t. The angry and fierce pheromones were getting too much for San, who was finding it hard to stand straight as the commanding scents infiltrates the entire room, causing things to fall and break.

He honestly doesn’t know what transpired, one moment he is on the brink of slipping and the other he is blocking the other alpha about to stab Yeosang, shielding the prince with his own body, blinding pain coursing through him as the black-covered man steps away, taken aback. He didn’t even see or realize, his instinct dragging his feet and now he was in Yeosang’s arms, who was staring at him with wide eyes, a genuinely shocked expression on his face, and San smiles a little- so that’s how he looks when he is sincere. It was pretty.

He is aware what he did was completely stupid- but however strong Yeosang was, the mere thought of letting him be hurt was unbearable. Without caring for the fact that why was his instinct centering around Yeosang, he just dived in.

“You know… I was going to spare you” Yeosang says, his voice too dark, venom dripping “But you shouldn’t have hurt him” the coffee has all but turned bitter, burnt, unbearable to breathe, San cannot keep his eyes open but he is worried as the rich scent of the alpha turns stale. The omega wants to ask, to say, but his body wouldn’t cooperate, strong hand wraps around his waist, taking most of his weight as San leans completely onto the alpha, not having any strength to even stand.

“What the f- AHHH!”

That’s all San heard before he was blacking out, hands holding onto Yeosang’s shoulder desperately.

When San woke up, he half expected to be in the prison and half in the hospital, most people would be disoriented, not remembering what happened- but San had the whole recap in his head the moment he became conscious. His body was strangely relaxed, and San wanted to panic but the ache all over his body just told him to stay put and shut the brain.

It was Yeosang’s room.

Why was he in the prince’s room? Why the hell was he sleeping here? How the fuck that happened?

Hongjoong enters a minute late, the monitor must have notified him, there was a huge concern in his eyes, and disappointment. Oh. Did he know? He looked at himself, he did use his body as a shield but his hand took most of the brunt, right hand wrapped in thick bandages, there was no glucose thingy, only he was attached to the heart monitor.

“Choi, you idiot little shit” Hongjoong starts, but somehow his tone is less angry and more exasperated. Then his eyes softened “Why didn’t you tell me? It could have been so dangerous- I can’t believe you risked your life, and so carelessly at that”

“… you’re not angry that I lied?” San asks in a small voice as the alpha’s words were not what he expected. Hongjoong shakes his head, titling in confusion, before understanding what San meant.

“Choi- I mean, San, I don’t give a fuck if you are an omega. If you’re good at your job, whoever you are, male, female, alpha, beta, or omega- I don’t care, I need results, that’s it. You have proven to be the best of best, I just wished you would have told me so I could have given you a safer environment. It’s not that I think you can’t take care of yourselves, but I know for a fact we can’t trust our biology- worst things could have happened” Hongjoong admonishes quietly, voice gentle, San wants to object at his soft tone, but he curses instead because it’s exactly what his shaken omega inside needs. He settles on pouting but that only makes Hongjoong chuckle lowly.

“What happened?”

“Since you so stupidly hurt yourself, Yeosang disposed of the opponent… quite violently. For some reason, nobody realized anything. I have a feeling they used some sort of pheromones to keep everyone out of this wing. He asked me to come, I was so shocked to see the scene in front of me, I have a good medical background- or else Yeosang wouldn’t have called me” At San’s confused raised brow, he explained “Your secret, he wanted to let as less number of people he can to know. Fortunately, your wounds weren’t deep, heavy pheromones affected you deeply that’s why you couldn’t stand the pain. Yeosang helped heal you a bit, but he couldn’t use it to a high level as you both aren’t linked. After setting you up on this bed, I gave you some glucose, bandaged your arm, and hooked you to this machine. I thought you’d take a day more, but I am glad to see you up and about. A bit, at least.”

“Oh… ah, thank you, hyung. I am sorry fo-”

“Hush, it's all fine. Just try to get well and then you can return to the post”

“The prince removed me, remember?” Hongjoong made a face, right, that happened.

“I don’t know why he did something like that, seeing how protective he is of you, I don’t get him” The alpha wondered loudly, staring at San as if he had any answers. San raised his brow, the prince- protective of him? What was Hongjoong on? The alpha laughed at his disbelieved expression. “You being in his room instead of a hospital or another private room should be a clue enough, but uh, the guy who hurt you? He’s like… quite violently unwell”

“B-But-”

“Oh you’re here” Yeosang enters the room, eying them both silently, the atmosphere changed too drastically, San could feel someone strong has appeared.

“I was just about to leave,” Hongjoong says, chuckling, San looking at him in confusion. “I wanted to talk to you about reassigning San in the security”

“Oh, don’t worry about that” At Yeosang’s dismissal, San’s face fell, so the alpha didn’t deem him enough to protect, huh.

“Yeosang, the man had just fucking saved your life, I don’t get why you ordered that” Hongjoong smelled angry, frustrated, thick scent of cinnamon clouding the room. San was almost afraid that Yeosang wouldn’t react well to Hongjoong speaking in such a way, but the prince’s face remained neutral, unbothered.

“Hyung” Yeosang starts and San’s eyes widen- did the prince just call Hongjoong, hyung? What? “No doubt he is capable, but I don’t want him in the security” San gulps, something bitter stuck in his throat as he tries to ignore the intense hurt he was feeling just by one sentence of the prince. Hongjoong is about to argue again, he wants to stop him but Yeosang was talking again “because I didn’t want him under any other alpha”

“What?” Hongjoong asks, puzzled, so was San, looking at Yeosang with a questioning gaze. The prince smiles, it was small but San felt his breath shuttering.

“He will be my personal bodyguard from now on, under me alone, and follow my orders- not yours, or queen’s or any. Only mine.”

How possessive.

“And his room arrangement?” Hongjoong pries.

“Here” Yesaong motions to his room, and then to where San is half sitting, half lying.

“Oh… I see. Then, I will just get myself out” Hongjoong’s expression quickly changed into a knowing one, and then he was grinning, shaking his head fondly. San was still processing the whole thing when the alpha winked at him, then moved towards the door, waving them goodbye.

And then there were only two of them in the room alone, Yeosang still standing away from the bed, looking at him while San could barely think straight. A few seconds passed by, a shy eye contact before San climbed out of the bed suddenly, feeling conscious. The prince was in the room and he was just sitting on his bed, it was disrespectful.

“Uh-” San wished to break the silence but he didn’t know what to say, what to ask first, too overwhelmed, with the situation and his desires. “So… uh, I still have the job?” he settles on asking. The prince doesn’t reply, he is still looking at San and the omega feels even more embarrassed as he was standing closer to Yeosang.

Suddenly, the prince moves- strides towards the messy bed, where Yeosang’s white blanket is there- San didn’t realize he was wrapped in that. Then the prince was sitting on the bed, knees apart, hands supporting backward as he looks at San in mirth.

San didn’t understand.

“Come here” It’s spoken in a low tone, but it's an order. San takes slow steps, beyond terrified, the fear of being discovered has subsided but something else is crawling at the back of his head. He stops right in front of Yeosang who looks far too comfortable inside with everything that has happened. He is not perfectly dressed, just in a fitted black tee and white trouser, long golden hair ruffled adorably. San finds him breathtaking, even at this moment. The air is thick with the smell of roasted beans, tint of sweetness among the bitter, and San just wants to drown in that scent. These thoughts are enough to mortify him. Again.

A hand shoots out, grabbing San’s wrist in a stronghold, San gasps at the sudden action before reigning himself in. He is already at the bay. Then he is being pulled harshly, falling into Yeosang’s lap, who adjusts him effortlessly between his legs, facing him. He is careful with the side of the arm San is injured with. The alpha’s hands are at his waist, the hold isn’t bruising but it is tight. San’s brain had already short-circuited, his shuttering attempt at asking questions is canceled when Yeosang buries his nose into San’s neck and San squeaks, jumping back in reflex action but hands on his waist had him caged, he wasn’t strong enough to break away from Yeosang. Especially in this state.

As if he wanted to.

“Y-Y-Your hi-hi- eek!” Yeosang licks a stripe of skin over his scent gland, breathing in the blooming scent, pulling San impossibly closer. The pressure of a strong body against him has San groaning in pleasure, strong arms securing him entirely, his omega keening at the action. He feels heady with Yeosang’s scent, his suppressant disappearing completely, honey sneaking out from under the surface.

“omega” Yeosang murmurs “the scent belonged to you” San stiffens when he realizes prince what the prince was talking about, but then he frowns in confusion at the rest “the lavender- in my bathroom, I couldn’t get it out of my mind, longed to smell it once again” The alpha sighs in happiness. “I can’t believe it’s you”

San feels suffocated at the last sentence. He is well aware he is not the typical omega anymore. He was, when he had just presented- basically a twink- scrawny and small. He hated it, that’s why he did everything to become strong. He had bulked up, though his waist was just as small, his muscles were firm and shoulders broad. San’s scent gave away his feeling, souring at the implication, hurt.

“Oh no, no, my omega” there it is, the possessiveness “I didn’t mean it like that” His voice is gentle, and San wonders if he ever heard Yeosang being this nice before, he relaxes a little. “I am glad that it's your scent because I have been drawn to you since day one”

“But… why would you be… so-” San couldn’t find the right words. Did Yeosang feel the ache like he did? The unbearable longing? If yes, what did that mean?

“I don’t know” Yeosang drops light kisses over San’s collarbone, one side of his tee already slipping off his shoulder. “But I want you, the urge to have you, your scent is too strong. Do you want me too?”

San nods fervently, clinging onto the alpha now that his omega feels accepted, seen, wanted. He must have spilled strings of yes, yes, yes, please but he was far too gone to care. He could feel the wetness behind him, the aroused pheromones triggered slick gushing out of him.

“Y-Your h-”

“Call me Yeosang”

“I-I can’t, my pri-”

“San” a plea, a warning, a request.

“…Yeosang” he whispers into the prince’s lips as it collides into his own, both of them groaning at the contact, the relief and content spreading over them. San has never felt this alive before.

“My strong, pretty omega,” Yeosang says proudly when he pulls away, San staring at him with wide eyes, the compliment unexpected “fuck, how could you be so adorable and yet so badass? I am a lucky man, huh?”

“Wha-” San is blushing all the way to his chest, and Yeosang is dying to find where it ends. Not tonight though.

“Say you belong to me” the voice isn’t demanding, a deep tone and firm statement but San can feel the weight of it. Yeosang isn’t just dishing it for a joke, he is serious, he doesn’t play around. The omega thinks, thinks if it's okay, if he should- but the thought of denying the alpha seems impossible, make his omega wail.

Is it fine to be this deep, this soon?

“I belong to you, Yeosang”

Maybe.

Despite his expectations, the prince didn’t touch him more intimately. They were cuddled up on Yeosang’s too big of a bed, his white blanket (which Yeosang said calmed him when he was unconscious and in pain) covering the both of them- their scent of coffee and lavender mixing deliciously in the room.

San thought the prince wouldn’t be so gentle, so caring, but he shouldn’t have just assumed. Yeosang was cutting honest, it was true, but he didn’t hold back when it came to anything else either. Of course, the alpha still has a wall around him but something tells him, there could be a door made in those walls soon. Though San was still lost about the fact why he was feeling so much for this strange alpha. But it was too comforting and relaxing to be in the arms of the prince, he could have sworn a few days before just the thought of being close to Yeosang filled him with anxiety and uncertainty.

“What are you thinking, pretty boy?” Yeosang says casually like he has no idea how his simple nicknames are destroying San’s insides. The prince wasn’t too mushy but his actions speaks louder, with the way his hands were still tightly wrapped around San’s waist. He should feel weird, with such sudden changes, touching someone who’s more close to a stranger, but all he could feel at this instance was… content. His omega felt happy. And he honestly couldn’t remember a time where it was.

“This… us… I don’t get it” he finally speaks, still too nervous, too unsure “two weeks before, we didn’t even know each other, didn’t know we both even existed- and now… you a prince and I-”

“Don’t think about useless things” Yeosang means about the last part of the sentence “Well, I also don’t know exactly what’s going on with us. I have never felt this way before” then he pushes his nose into the hollow of San’s neck, making the omega squeak, again “I think our alpha and omega have imprinted on each other”

“Wh- really?” San was truly taken aback, imprinting doesn’t happen these days, yes, potential mates were searched or recognized but actual imprinting was very rare among them folks. “I-If that’s true, will the queen accept it?” he is trying hard to stay unaffected by how Yeosang is scenting him, clearly leaving his pheromones all over San but it's not an easy feat.

“Why not? I am the strongest alpha in the country and my omega protects me well- what more could I need?” San blushes, not used to being treated or talked in such a way, especially not from Yeosang. He always took lead, even between Wooyoung and him, people assumed he was the alpha. It was just… different, being on the other side, the strangest thing was- Yeosang didn’t treat him like an omega- like he was weak or delicate- he relished the fact that San was further away from it.

San doesn’t know how to feel about that.

He feels too warm, too pleased, and he is afraid feeling this much happiness is dangerous.

He always knew Yeosang was different, but he didn’t know how much.

It's amazing how he thinks he’s gonna fall hard, harder than anything before even taking a jump.

“Yeosang, we can’t-”

“I can do whatever I want” San huffs, trying to free his wrist to no avail “And I wanna do you right now”

“I am on duty!” San grits out, the other guards are looking away from the commotion and San feels his cheek burning at their behavior. Yeosang is behind him, his hands lingering on him as he whispers into his ear.

“Then I declare you to get off duty”

“I will complain to Hongjoong hyung- if you don’t let me do my job.” San is stubborn, Yeosang realizes after getting to know the omega, and doesn’t give up at all. The prince and San, they both know if Yeosang really wishes, he can easily drag him back to his room, but Yeosang doesn’t. He respects San… sometimes and tries not to bother the omega when he is on guard- but it’s not easy. His omega looks entirely too sexy in all-black fitted clothes.

The scent of coffee thickens.

“my omega is too much” The prince complains “but it's my fault for wanting a sexy badass-”

“Yeosang!” San scolds, in a lowered voice, he was sure the others could hear the prince and San wasn’t keen on letting the whole world know about their relationship. They got too nosy. And he had no idea how the queen would react.

“Your omega?”

Fuck.

“Oh, mother. I didn’t know you were coming today” Yeosang greets but he doesn’t separate from San, who wishes for the ground to open up and swallow him. The queen is eying him, San knows, but he cannot meet her gaze- he is too embarrassed.

“Something came up,” Queen said dismissingly, then she pointed a look at San “What were you saying about your omega? Have you found one? Why didn’t you tell me?” Yeosang sighs, his mother is too invested in his life.

“Should we talk in my room, mother?” Yeosang replies with another question, his eyes fleeting over the guards in the hallways and the ones that came with the queen. She nodded, motioning them to stay behind as she followed Yeosang and him to his room. San really wanted to stay out too but Yeosang’s grip on his wrist tightened, he sighed, before letting himself be dragged.

“He is my omega” The door was just closed as these words left Yeosang’s lips, pulling San near him to prove the point. The queen had a surprised look on her face, remaining silent for a few seconds- contemplating. Then she sits on the sofa, beckoning them to do that same.

“I was informed that he was a beta?”

“Yes, but he is in fact an omega. He hid his identity to continue his profession”

“Uh- yes, I apologize for lying, I-”

“you don’t need to be sorry for anything, San-ah” San could only glare at Yeosang for interrupting, he didn’t want the queen to view him as a liar.

“Are you sure about your choice?” The queen asks quietly “You have never been serious about mating before, no matter how much I requested”

“Yes, I am. Plus we may have… imprinted on each other, so there’s that”

“Oh” This time her surprise was pleasant, she looks at San “Hello again, I forgot to thank you for protecting my son, he can take care of himself but he can get pretty reckless. You’re a capable man”

“It was my duty, your highness. Thank you very much. I want to apologize again, I didn’t mean to deceive you, it's just how I work so I…”

“Well, as long as you make him happy, I have no objections. I guess now I know why you were so reluctant” The queen smiles.

“Y-You’re okay… with us?” he asks nervously, all the stories he heard or read about royalties kinda ended up with everyone trying to separate the common man and the prince or princess.

“Its not what I had in mind but this isn’t any bad either” San finds it hard to believe how frank and accepting the queen is, he wasn’t expecting to be accepted so easily. Guess Yeosang was right, he didn’t have anything to worry about. Though it was still taking time to get used to the fact that he was a prince’s lover.

“Not bad at all, mother” Yeosang smirks, and the queen laughs lightly.

“I must leave, unfortunately, I had only come to see your face. Though it was nice to get this good news. The conference is in an hour so I must be on my way” She stands up, so did the both of them, Yeosang walks closer to her. The queen hugs him, caressing his long hair, and there is a smell of vanilla mingling delicately with the coffee.

“Let me walk you-”

“No need, love” she looks at San again “Take care of him” And San can feel it isn’t just for the sake of it, the emotions of concern are apparent in her eyes, and San nods, he intends to make good on his promise.

“I can take care of myself, mother”

“I know” She chuckles “I just think Choi will be better at it” And this time Yeosang doesn’t deny, looking sheepish, his cheeks reddening slightly and San likes it way too much.

“So now that’s done” Yeosang starts, the queen had left about a minute ago “Where were we-”

“Yeosang!”

San knows, all that happened in those two weeks, it wasn’t something he’d usually accept or even go through, but this time, he really couldn’t resist. Yeosang broke down his wall without even trying and San let him, without even protesting. It could end badly, it could be worse in the future, there were too many logical scenarios that whipped up in his head, but for some reason, this time, San didn’t deter. This time, San wanted to give life a chance, and if it’s a bothersome troublemaker royalty, then so be it.

He closed his eyes and took a jump.
