“Come on! Run a little faster!” Levi was dashing through the rain, his uniform jacket pulled over his head as he clutched his book bag to his chest. “My console will be ruined all because of your dumb idea!” He wailed.
All I wanted was to spend some time with Levi and I thought it would also be beneficial for him to get some fresh air from being locked up in his room all day. However I knew he wouldn’t want to go outside with me without a plan so I figured it would be a good idea to play video games in the courtyard of RAD together. That way we could at least be outdoors. I didn’t know it was supposed to storm before we got back to The House of Lamentation.
“I’m sorry Levi!” I cried back, trying to keep up with him, but his long legs with massive, determined strides made it nearly impossible. I was left paces behind him staring at his back. We barely made it inside before the first flash of lightning struck and thunder shook the House of Lamentation.
“Oh thank god!” Levi threw his sopping wet jacket to the floor, opening his bag and seeing that all of the contents were safe and dry. We looked like a couple of drowned rats, dripping onto the tile floor. I took my shoes off, dumping the water out of them. “I’m never going outside again.” He muttered, trying to shake off the rain. We were both panting from running as fast as we could, and began to peel off any unnecessary layers of our uniform.
“I just wanted to spend some time alone with you.” I admitted, embarrassed. I gave him a little push on the back, carefully making sure I was looking anywhere except at him so he’d start walking upstairs. “Can we both go take baths and then try playing again, but we can stay in your room?” I begged. Inside I was worried he was mad at me.
“Sure, sure.” He grumbled, surprisingly he walked me to my room at the end of the hall despite his grumpy mood. “I didn’t mean to get upset…” he leaned on my door frame, letting out a heavy sigh avoiding all eye contact. “I just needed to get back inside.”
“I know.” I responded quietly, rummaging in my bag for the keys to my room. But I dug deeper and deeper, trying to listen for their jingle. I didn’t know how I’d repay him if something happened to his things. “You go back to your room and shower, or you’ll get sick.” I finally looked up at him. My heart began to pound in my chest. He had pushed his wet indigo hair away from his face, revealing his glittering orange eyes. As much time as I spent around him I felt as though I never got to see his face properly. But since I sent him off, he nodded tacitly and turned away.
After I heard his door shut, I fell to the ground and overturned the bag and dumping all of its soaking wet contents out. To double check that state of my lock, I reached up and wiggled the door handle. Yep. I did remember to lock it before I left. I mentally groaned after not seeing my keys amidst the pile wrinkled notebooks and pens. I shuffled through everything and reached in every pocket once again. I was starting to shiver in my soaking clothes. Quickly I ran to check the stairs and the foyer, ruling them out as I scoured every square centimeter of the floors. I finally came to the conclusion that they must be outside… the intense thunder and lightning kept me from venturing back outdoors. Instead I dragged my cold and soggy body back upstairs and knocked on Levi’s door, hoping he wasn’t still in the shower.
There, as usual, was no response.
“Levi it’s me!” I tried, he would answer if it was me, especially since I was planing on coming back to his room. I wrapped my arms around myself, trying to stop shivering but it seemed to make it worse. I knew he got angry when people came in unannounced but this had to be counted as an extenuating circumstance— if his door wasn’t locked. I held my breath as I grabbed the knob. Much to my surprise he did leave it open and I walked in. “Levi! It’s me, MC!” I announced as I walked in, keeping my eyes on the ground.
Levi let out a cry of surprise as he whipped around to face the door. “MC!” He had changed into warm clothes and was just finishing drying his hair with a towel.
“Didn’t you hear me?”
“I-I-I…” he stammered, looking over to his fish tank where Henry swam happily. “I guess my mind was elsewhere… but why are you still in your wet uniform… and you’re shivering?”
“I lost my keys.” My teeth chattered as I gave out an exasperated sigh. “And I’m sure they’re outside at RAD or something. But it’s still storming and I’m so cold. I don’t know what to do. I’m sure I could go to someone else’s room if it’s a bother. I bet Mammon or Lucifer would let me use their showers-“
“M-maybe… you c-could shower here.” Levi cut me off quickly. Still though, He couldn’t make eye contact with me, and he covered his mouth with his hand as he continued to stammer his response. “And… you could w-wear s-something of m-mine.” He grabbed me by the elbow, blushing furiously as he dragged me to the bathroom before I could even answer. In a rush he shoved a fresh towel and some clothes into my arms before slamming the door behind him, leaving me alone. “Just come out when you’re done!” He yelled.
I guess I’d make it quick. As relaxing as the warm water was, it would be best to warm up, wash off with some soap, and then change. I didn’t want him waiting too long especially since he seemed to be embarrassed that I was there. I yanked the sweatshirt over my head, it was so warm and fluffy, and it smelled just like him. It was way too large on me, I had to roll the sleeves up quite a few times just for the cuffs to sit on my wrists and the hem fell to my knees… still, I don’t know if I’d ever want to give it back. I knew I looked ridiculous in his clothing, but him letting me stay in his room and wear his clothes made my heart flutter. I finally emerged from the bathroom and Levi was already sitting on the ground, playing a game. He glanced over his shoulder and immediately hit pause. His eyes became fixated on me as I walked over and plopped down next to him.
“What?” I gave him a playful push, trying to pass off like I wasn’t extremely self conscious that I was wearing his clothes. “We need to pick out a game for both of us. What do you want to play?”
Suddenly he yanked a towel over my head, covering my face so I couldn’t see him. “Your hair is still wet! You’ll get a cold… I’ve heard that happens to humans.” He rambled as he scrubbed at my hair furiously. I couldn’t help but laugh with my whole chest at his reaction. Finally he stopped and my hair was most likely a wild damp mess. He slowly removed the towel, revealing my face. “Your nose is all red, you must still be a little cold.” He observed, before looking away again. “Sorry. I say stupid things. Don’t pay attention to me at all.”
I could help but tip his chin back towards me, to see that his usually pale cheeks were now rosy with embarrassment.
“Your cheeks are all red.” I whispered, leaning in and kissing him. He froze up in fear. This was the usual reaction from him, and I pulled away. I knew he wouldn’t easily reciprocate any feelings. “Do I look good in your shirt?” I played, pushing his hair away from his face. His eyes remained tightly shut but he nodded. I kissed his cheek before settling into his side, simply sitting together like this was good enough for me. Although I did yearn to have him actually wrap his arms around me for once. I pulled the controller from his hands. “Come on let’s pick.” I sighed, scrolling through the game catalogue. There was a long moment of silence, “if you want I can text one of your brothers to play with us if you don’t want to be alone with me. I’m sure Beel or Mammon would want to play too…” I muttered, pulling out my DDD.
Much to my surprise he yanked me onto his lap, causing me to drop the phone. His arms wrapped tightly around my waist and he rested his chin on my shoulder. “This one.” He huffed in my ear. Levi placed his hands around mine, controlling my fingers with his own to hit select on one of the games. I faltered for a moment, surprised by his sudden forwardness. This tended to happen when I brought up his brothers; suddenly he would be very comfortable with my presence and he would get clingy… it was quite endearing.
“I’ll help you play this one. I think you’ll like it.” I leaned my back into his chest, listening patiently to the game’s music as the screen loaded. I gazed back at him, pining for him to give me some more affection, but his amber eyes remained steady on the screen.
“Levi,” I whispered, trying to get him to look at me. “Le—vi.” I tried again. I saw the corner of his lip twitch briefly into a smile, but he still refused to look at me. I gave an unsatisfied grumble before turning back to the screen. Right before opening a new save file, he pressed his warm lips tenderly onto my neck and I could feel my face heat up uncontrollably. Of course, Levi then began helping me play as if nothing happened.
