Their First Encounter

Summary:

In an alternate universe, this is how Vox and Fulgur met each other.

Notes:

Hello! This is my first time using AO3 so I have no idea how it's gonna turn out. The setting takes place in England purely because that's where I assume they first landed after transmigration due to the British accent. If the plot and story sound familiar, I'm sure you know why...

Work Text:

It was a cloudy afternoon in England. When has it not been? The only two kinds of weather that the British know are rainy and cloudy. The rain had just stopped drizzling, and the streets were as gloomy as ever. On the flip-side, however, the only signs of life were from the boisterous pubs filled with drunk and half-naked men drowning their sorrows with pints of beer.

Vox was one of them.

In fact, it was one of the first few things he did the moment he realized he reincarnated. The grief of losing his clan, land, and life in a single night took a toll on his mind. He was depressed, bitter, but most of all, furious. He had just lost everything but couldn't do anything about it. He couldn't return to where he came from to mourn for his clanmates, nor could he plot revenge as the man who took it all had already died. All he could do was rebuild his nation from the ground up, which he did to an extent, but it wasn't the same. He wanted his everything back too.

His fist clenched his beer bottle tightly, nearly causing it to crack. He wanted to punch anyone, anything.

"Ugh... This place. Where am I..."

The source of the voice originated from the entrance of the pub. For some reason, that voice irritated the former clan leader. Turning around, his eyes landed on an odd-looking fellow. His hair and eyes matched England's weather, and a weird red tattoo rested on his left eye. His expression was formed into an eternal scowl. But what was even more eyecatching were his red metallic arms and the ludicrous amounts of belts he wore. Just why did he need that many belts? True, his waist was so thin and snatchable that he might have needed the belts to keep his pants up, but it was overkill to use that many straps.

Vox really wanted to land a blow on that resting bitch face. So he did.

Grabbing his half-empty bottle of beer, he ran towards the funny-looking man and slammed the bottle against him, aiming for the head. The cyborg reacted fast, however, and brought his arms up to guard his face, causing the bottle to shatter on his forearms instead. The beer-soaked the man's metallic arms, earning an even further scowl from the male.

"The hell is your problem?!" He yelled, irked by the situation he was suddenly placed into. The customers around suddenly ceased to a silence, curious at the drama unfolding in front of their eyes. At this point, Vox was getting a little tipsy and didn't know who exactly he was fighting up against.

"Su... Suikyo." The demon squinted his eyes at the funny-looking belt that was strapped across the cyborg's chest. It had some words written on it. He just assumed it was his opponent's nametag or whatnot. "Fight me."

'Suikyo' here did not seem impressed. "First of all," The man spoke, his voice getting more audibly vexed, "It says Saikyo, not Suikyo. Second of all-"

"It doesn't fuckin' matter. Fight me, you half-tin can." Vox started the fight with a strong punch, and chaos ensued.

It ended up becoming an entire brawl. Not only did Vox and Saikyo pummel each other, but the other drunkards also fought each other out of spite. The tables were smashed, windows shattered, and dogs barked at the commotion. Blood was spilt, and the one who ended on top was the cyborg.

Regrettably, it was a one-sided battle. There was no way an old demon of the past could best a half-machine from the future. All Vox received were broken bones on his arms and fingers. The pain was less excruciating compared to the agony he felt during the war, but it was painful nonetheless. He felt hopeless. Was he really going to lose twice? That's impossible...

And it just clicked to him. It was the only answer he could come up with. The red and black aesthetic that donned the robotic figure, it matched Vox's own attire. The dead stare that the demon lord was given. It was the look of a murderer. "You... Are you a cyborg sent from the future to kill me? What are you doing here? What do you want? What are you going to do to the kindred?"

The silver-haired male was somewhat taken aback by this, his glare shifting into one more of slight confusion, frustration, before finally, calm. For some reason, this man seemed a lot more annoying. "Yeah, that's right, Voxy. I'm here to wreck your shit. And my name... is Legatus."
