Chapter 1

“Oh Professor Snape.” Hagrid said. He was both surprised and confused to see the Potions Master standing there.

“Hagrid. Dumbledore's at the Ministry and McGonagall has a lot of papers to grade. To top it all off, I have a detention tonight. Can you watch Ariana?”

Hagrid looked at the toddler on Snape’s hip. She clutched to the Potions Master tightly. Snape also had the maroon backpack that was used for the toddlers’ diaper bag.

“Of course! Come on in.” Hagrid moved to allow Snape to enter his hut.

Snape tried to place Ariana on the dining table but she wasn’t having it. She just clutched onto him tighter.

“No. No.”

“I can’t have you with me, Ariana.” Snape tried to soothe the crying toddler. “I made sure she has plenty of diapers and snacks. I also packed a few toys.” Snape told Hagrid.

Hagrid opened the bag to check the items in it. Snape was known to overpack the diaper bag. Just like McGonagall. It was Dumbledore who never seemed to pack enough.

Hagrid pulled out the stuffed Lion. Ariana named him “Leo”.

“Look who I have, Ari.” Hagrid said.

With tears in her eyes Ariana looked at the half giant. The small stuffed Lion looked bitty in Hagrid’s hands.

“Leo!” Ariana said excitedly. She tried to reach for it.

“You can have it if you let go of me and stay here with Hagrid.” Snape said sternly.

Ariana looked at Snape. She then looked at the stuffed Lion in Hagrid’s massive hands. She really did want her lovey. She also really wanted Snape.

“Stay.” Ariana said, looking into Snape’s onyx eyes.

“I can’t my dear. I have a detention tonight.” Snape said.

“Detenshon?” Ariana asked, confused.

“Yes. Detention.” Snape smiled. “This is why you need to stay here with Hagrid. He’ll take care of you.”

Hagrid made roaring sounds as he moved the Lion around. Snape just sighed and rolled his eyes. Ariana copied Snape, but she moved her head instead of just her eyes. This made Snape smile again.

After sometime Ariana allowed Snape to put her down. He placed a kiss on her forehead.

“I wuv wu, Sev.” Ariana said.

“I love you too, my dear.” Snape said, kissing Ariana’s forehead one more time.

Snape made sure to grab a couple cans of slug repellent. He was having the student care for the vegetable gardens. That way he could be close in case something happened with Ariana.

A couple of hours later, Snape walked into Hagrid’s hut. He got a whiff of a poopy diaper.

“Someone pooped.” Snape said, placing the half empty can of slug repellent on the floor next to the door.

Hagrid was going through the diaper bag to find the rash ointment. “I can’t find her rash ointment.”

Snape rolled his eyes as he groaned. Taking out his wand he walked up to Hagrid.

Accio Rash Ointment.” Snape said. A tube of rash ointment popped out of the bag. He caught it with his free hand.

What Snape saw before him not only broke his heart but angered him. Ariana was giggly at seeing Snape. However, it was a surprise she wasn’t in pain. Her bottom was red with a couple of sores. A diaper full as ever sat next to her.

“How long was she in the diaper for?” Snape asked.

“Oh um. Let’s see…” Hagrid trailed off.

“How long was she in the diaper for?” Snape asked again, his temper flaring.

“I didn’t know she needed changing till now, Professor Snape.” Hagrid said.

Snape’s onyx eyes burned with fire. “I’ve been gone for two hours!”

“Calm yourself Severus.” Dumbledore said, walking in.

Snape immediately went to tend to the toddler before him. He completed the diaper changing without magic. Making sure to cake the ointment on. He tried his best to keep Ariana giggling as he changed her.

“All better?” Snape asked, raising his eyebrows.

Ariana tried to copy him. It brought another smile to his face.

“Daddy!” Ariana squealed when she saw Dumbledore.

Dumbledore picked up Ariana. He held her tightly. He even used wandless magic to bring Leo to her.

“Thank you both for watching her. Now let’s go find, mummy.” Dumbledore said, grabbing the bag.

Snape glared at Hagrid before he followed the Headmaster out.

A few days later, Snape was unpacking the supplies he ordered while his class was working hard on their potions. Ariana was in the playpen in one corner of the classroom quietly coloring in the Potions coloring book Snape found at the children’s store in Knockturn Alley. She was also gnawing on a cauldron teether.

Snape felt bad for the toddler. She fell a week ago outside in the courtyard while playing. She ended up cracking some teeth. McGonagall and Dumbledore agreed to just get the cracked teeth pulled. Snape took Ariana to a Wizarding Hospital to have it done. As her Godfather, he was able to sign off on her paperwork if needed.

So now to help her get used to having no teeth. She chews on a few things. It was McGonagall’s idea to find some teethers they could keep cold. They were treating it like she was when she was teething. Snape was thankful they were out of teething faze.

“Oh hey Lucius.” Snape said as he saw his best friend walk in.

“Hello Severus.” Lucius said with a smile.

He had his son, Draco, with him. Ariana was jumping up and down excitedly when she saw Draco. They had a play date today since Snape had the afternoon off.

“Draco!”

“Awi!”

“You could put him there with her.” Snape said, sorting a few items in a basket.

Lucius put Draco in with Ariana. He couldn’t help the smile when he saw the two toddlers hug. Draco went to color with Ariana.

“I can’t believe you have to watch Dumbledore’s daughter.” Lucius said, disgusted.

“I don’t mind it. She isn’t that bad of a kid. Minerva doesn’t allow it.” Snape said. “I am just surprised that you allow her to socialize with Draco.”

“Do you think I would stop Draco from having friends?” Lucius asked. A little defensive.

Snape groaned. He didn’t listen to Lucius’ question. The box of potion ingredients he ordered must’ve dropped, because there were broken bottles all through it with loose ingredients.

“Doesn’t anyone ever read anymore!” Snape exclaimed.

“What happened, Severus?” Dumbledore asked.

“Daddy!” Ariana said, jumping up and down excitedly. Draco narrowed his gray eyes at the Headmaster.

The Headmaster petted Ariana’s hair. As he listened to Snape talk about the broken bottles and spilt ingredients.

“Don’t you have an afternoon off, Severus? We can always travel by floo network to get what you need.” Lucius suggested.

“I have Ariana though.” Snape said.

Dumbledore held up a hand. “As long as you are back by dinner, you can take her with you. Minerva will be busy with classes all afternoon.”

“Very well.” Snape said, nodding his head.

He then turned his attention to a student watching him instead of focusing on her potion. This was the same student that has had detention three times this week.

“Pay attention to your work rather than me.” Snape said.

The student went back to their work. Snape just sighed and rolled his eyes. It wasn’t hard to see that the student was infatuated with the Potions Master. They weren’t exactly subtle about it.

“Mine.” Ariana glared at the student as she pointed to Snape.

Snape smiled. He walked over to Ariana to place a kiss on her head. “Yes Ariana. I’m yours.”

“You will listen to Severus. Right Ariana.” Dumbledore said, looking at Ariana above the rim of his glasses.

“Yes Daddy.” Ariana said.

Dumbledore kissed the toddler on the cheek before leaving.

“I need to grab a few things for Ariana before we go.” Snape said, checking Ariana’s diaper bag.

“It looks like a Gryffindor threw up in here.” Lucius said as they entered Ariana’s room.

There was a dark wooden toddler floor bed with a golden fitted sheet and a Gryffindor throw blanket. The toddler pillow had a maroon pillow case on it. The color combination of red and gold and Gryffindor decor was placed neatly all throughout the room.

“I actually don’t like it, but it was Minerva’s idea.” Snape said.

Snape searched through the dark wood dresser to find some plain muggle clothes. He made sure to grab extra undies since they were in the potty training stage. He thought it was best to start potty training since Hagrid struggled with her diaper changes when he had her.

“Did she go?” Lucius asked, helping Draco pull out a basket of building blocks.

“Yup. She’s getting more and more comfortable with going on the potty.” Snape said. He assisted with helping Ariana wipe and pull up her pants.

“According to Narcissa, it's a struggle to get Draco to use the loo.” Lucius said. He groaned when Draco dumped the basket of blocks everywhere.

“Don’t worry about that. I can always clean it up before we go.” Snape said. He went to dump the toddler potty leaving Lucius to watch the kids.

“Mine!” Ariana said, holding a block that Draco was trying to take from her.

Draco knocked down Ariana’s tower making her cry.

“Draco!”

Ariana ran into Snape’s arms. “It’s alright, Lucius. Ariana can be a little sensitive.” Snape petted Ariana’s hair. “She’s so isolated here at the school. This is why I told Minerva about her getting out more. She needs to handle how cold the outside world can be.”

“Are you sure McGonagall will be okay with her having a playdate with Draco?” Lucius asked. Not that he cared.

“She should know that you are my best friend. We will spend time together whether she likes it or not. I can’t do much when I have Ariana.” Snape said.

Lucius agreed. He assisted Snape in picking up the toys.

Snape tensed as an arm wrapped around his shoulders. It was Goyale. He had his son with him.

“Dumbledore let you out finally.” Goyale said.

Snape shrugged off his friend. “Not my fault our delivery service are assholes. They broke half the bottles I needed.”

Their attention was brought to the young kids arguing. Goyale’s son was picking on Ariana for being Dumbledore’s daughter. He was a bigger boy. Draco and Arianna seemed underweight compared to him.

“Troll!!” Ariana said as she used her stuffed Lion to smack the boy. Snape was quite proud of her.

“Oi Gregory. Leave her alone.” Goyale said.

The boy pointed to Ariana. “She started it!”

“Did not!” Ariana said.

“Wire.” Draco said.

Ariana narrowed her green eyes like a certain Transfiguration Professor. “It’s liar you twit!”

“Ariana, come stand by me.” Snape said.

Ariana stuck her tongue out at the boys. She went to stand by Snape. Draco and Goyale’s boy chuckled. Ariana just ignored them.

“I will laugh if she’s a Slytherin.” Lucius said.

“That was more bravery than stupidity, Lucius.” Snape said, crouching down to let Ariana look at the ingredient in his hand.

“Lacewing Flies.” Ariana said.

“That’s right, my dear.” Snape said, smiling.
