baekhyun is sure that he will do it right , this time .
and this time , it will not be a misunderstanding .
as baekhyun walked through the hall of their campus building, he couldn't ignore the eyes that were looking at him and the students who also whispered to each other because of the box he was holding.
it was valentine’s day.
of course, they would be expecting baekhyun to do something today because of what happened with last year’s valentine’s day and with the fact that he is the other pair in the so called “campus couple” because of the mistake he made last year.
baekhyun prepared for this year’s valentine’s day because he will be confessing to his longtime crush and childhood friend. as someone who likes baking, he thought that it would be cute to confess through it. so yesterday, he stayed up late to make the prettiest and most delicious cupcake.
but the thing is, it was not the only set of cupcakes that he was going to do that night.
there was another set.
because baekhyun thought that it would be fine to give another set of cupcakes to another person as a sign of thank you, and because he was too lazy to do it another time. he thought that he was killing two birds with one stone.
he really thought that he planned it all.
but baekhyun can be a bit forgetful sometimes so it was a surprise when sehun opened the cupcake box only to see the words “i like you” and before baekhyun could explain himself, they were already pushed to each other because sehun was still in basketball practice when baekhyun gave the box.
“i didn’t know that you liked me.” sehun said while smirking at baekhyun.
and baekhyun?
well, he was too stunned to speak.
baekhyun tightened his hold on the box and tried to not mind them because there is only one person that he needs to see right now.
and that person is none other than, park chanyeol .
the one who was supposed to receive the “i like you” cupcakes. not oh sehun.
because of the mistake that he made last year, everyone started shipping them which resulted in chanyeol distancing himself since baekhyun was often whisk away by sehun. they barely had any time to spend with each other.
it was a torture for baekhyun to see his best friend slipping away but he can’t admit to sehun that there was a misunderstanding with the cupcake that he gave because even if sehun was infuriating sometimes, he was still a good guy.
but for now, he will first fix his relationship with chanyeol.
compared to last year, he only has one box with him today and he made sure it was the right box this time, and chanyeol would be the first person he would be talking to make sure that he would be able to do everything right .
he miss his best friend.
even with having minimal to no physical interaction with chanyeol in the past year, his best friend still made sure to check up on him from time to time to make sure that baekhyun was taking care of himself and sehun was treating him okay.
but baekhyun would prefer if chanyeol was the one who was beside him and who was taking care of him.
baekhyun only wants chanyeol.
so before opening the door to the rooftop, baekhyun took a deep breath.
i can do this.
and as he opened the door, there he saw his best friend. who was casually reading his favorite manga while listening to his favorite music using the headphones that baekhyun got him on his last birthday. chanyeol didn’t see him immediately because the giant was too immersed with what he was reading so baekhyun walked closer to his best friend and poked the other’s shoulder.
“hey, yeol.” chanyeol was surprised to see baekhyun sitting beside him because he swore that he was alone earlier.
“bee.” and there goes baekhyun’s heart with just a simple pet name.
a pet name that he got because he was stung by a bee when they were kids and because he likes sweets so much that chanyeol would often have to stop him from eating too much because baekhyun would whine to him when his tummy ached.
“i got you something.” chanyeol took off his headphones and laid on the floor the manga that he was reading to get the box that baekhyun was giving to him.
“happy valentine’s day, yeollie!” baekhyun gave the brightest smile even if his cheeks were burning because this is it!
this is really it!
“baek?” chanyeol was staring at the cupcakes inside the box.
“yeah?” the nervousness can be heard in baekhyun’s voice.
“you don’t have to say sorry, bee. i know that having a boyfriend will really change everything between us, so it’s okay—” before chanyeol could finish what he was saying, the box was suddenly snatched by baekhyun.
“n-no. this is the wro-wrong box. a-again.” and suddenly, baekhyun was bawling his eyes out and the box of cupcakes were all scattered on the floor when baekhyun suddenly let go of it.
“why do-does this al-always happen?” chanyeol was shocked to see baekhyun crying so he immediately went to the smaller, “hey, bee. stop crying, please.”
“i wanted this to be special! that box was for sehun and not for you! why am i so dumb?”
“oh.”
baekhyun realized what he just said.
“i mean, those weren’t for you because it was supposed to be a different one.” baekhyun looked at the other and took chanyeol’s big hand into his.
“i like you, yeol. you’re the one that i like and the one who was supposed to get those cupcakes from last year. not oh sehun, it was just a misunderstanding .”
let’s just say they celebrated valentine’s day together while kissing each other because according to chanyeol, baekhyun’s lips are far more sweeter than his cupcakes .
