Work Text:
Lloyd.
The one very special, very awkward, green bean that Jay simply couldn’t get out of his mind since about freshman year of high school.
Most of the time, Jay claimed it was very nice to think about Lloyd, and his soft blonde hair, and his seemingly luminescent green eyes, but… Jay had a paper due in 14 hours and all he had written was ‘Lloyd Garmadon is pretty’, and that was a mistake fueled by the intruding thoughts that refused to show themselves the door.
Jay groaned and fell backwards onto the soft blankets of his bed. ‘Might as well drop out. College was overrated anyways.’
“Jay,” Cole, Jay’s best friend and (current) roommate, smirked. “What’s goin’ on in that pretty little head of yours? Or maybe it’s a…” He drew out the last word, clearly for effect. “Who is goin’ on in your head?”
“Shut up, I just can’t figure out how to start this essay. History just isn’t my strong suit.” Jay shrugged, pulling himself up again.
Cole chuckled, and then frowned. “Wait.. The one for Mrs. Misako’s class?? That was assigned 3 weeks ago!”
“I know! I just don’t know what to write!” Jay let out a whimper and debated simply throwing his laptop.
“Oh!” Cole jumped up and snapped his fingers and Jay looked over at him. “You should talk to Lloyd. He’s really good at the class.”
Jay felt his face heat up, but he nodded. “Yeah?”
“Yeah, Lloyd turned it in almost immediately. He’s a history nerd or something. I seriously recommend talking to him if it’s due in like, 14 hours and you haven’t even started.”
“Yeah, good idea, I’ll send him a text.”
Jay walked through the dorm halls, his laptop under his arm as he nervously messed with the strings of his hoodie. Lloyd had responded almost immediately, offering to help with whatever he could with no judgment, and god that was why Jay was so in love with him.
Lloyd had mentioned grabbing something to eat first though, since he knew Jay probably hadn’t eaten a single thing since he had sat down with his laptop.
Which was actually the previous night. Jay had had other homework to work on and he decided then and there he’d get it all done.
And then he fell asleep.
But he woke up again and got right back to it! He had just been, well, staring at the screen for about an hour after everything else was done, trying to figure out a way to start that damn history essay.
All too soon, Jay was at Lloyd’s door. Jay barely got nervous around Lloyd. They’d been friends for years. But sometimes, in rare situations where they were alone, Jay couldn’t help but feel more fidgety than usual.
The door swung open before Jay could even fathom the idea of knocking, and Lloyd let out a small noise of surprise before his face let up in a smile. “Jay! Come in, I was just about to come track you down. I don’t really feel like going anywhere so I ordered pizza if that's alright.”
Jay nodded, sliding past Lloyd into the dorm. “Yeah, that’s actually preferable, that way I can work while I eat.”
“No, you should eat first, considering you haven’t eaten since last night. And don’t even deny that, because I know you didn’t.”
“Fine.” Jay huffed, and fell backwards onto Lloyd’s bed. Lloyd chuckled and sat on the edge of the bed next to Jay. “Y’know I find it really weird that you’re the one who’s good at history.”
“I know, I find it odd too.” Lloyd shrugs.
Jay moves his head up and his breath hitches a bit. Lloyd is staring at the wall, seemingly zoning out a bit, though his body is turned more towards Jay. The lighting wasn’t anything special, but Lloyd looked so pretty anyways.
Said blonde blinked, and suddenly his eyes had met Jay’s. Jay’s eyes widened and his face went warm and any previous thoughts he had completely disappeared, the mood in the air feeling completely different. Apparently, Lloyd felt it too, as he pushed himself by his arms to move closer towards Jay.
Jay shifted and propped himself up on his elbows. Lloyd moved closer. Jay shifted again, and was sitting more properly, upright and his legs criss cross on Lloyd’s bed. There was something entrancing about the way Lloyd was staring at him.
“Lloyd–”
Lloyd rushed forward, pressing his lips firmly against Jay’s.
Jay nearly reeled back in shock, freezing before he got the chance to do anything. But when he felt Lloyd start to pull away, Jay shot his hands forward to grab onto Lloyd's jacket.
Jay pulled Lloyd closer, and the two fell into a steady rhythm. Lloyd placed his hand on Jays waist, and Jay's hands advanced upwards to bury his fingers in Lloyd's soft blonde hair.
Jay carefully tilted his head to pull Lloyd in even closer, and Lloyd took the chance to slowly lick Jay's lip. Jay responded enthusiastically, letting Lloyd keep making advancements. His mind was spinning so much, he barely registered Lloyd backing him towards the wall.
A loud knock on the door pulled the two boys out of their moment, and they pulled away from each other quickly, panting heavily as they tried to regain their breathing.
Lloyd got up quickly, brushing himself off and he pushed himself in the direction of the door. Jay fell back, his head hitting Lloyd's pillows as his mind tried to catch up.
Not only had Lloyd fucking kissed him, but they literally just made out on his bed and Jay's mind was all over the place trying to piece together why that happened.
Not that he'd complain, really, but an explanation would be ideal.
"Jay?" Jay's head shot up at the sound of his name, and Lloyd held up a large pizza box. "Pizza's here." The awkward, lopsided smile Lloyd offered him was nearly enough to send Jay to an early grave.
Sliding off the bed, Jay nodded and Lloyd set the box down to grab some plates. Jay found that calming his heart rate down simply wasn’t going to happen anytime soon when Lloyd’s fingers brushed his own as Lloyd handed off a plate to him.
The two of them sat in relative silence as they ate and Jay took the opportunity to grab his laptop again. Lloyd set his plate to the side as he slid off the bed next to Jay on the floor.
“Alright, Jay, what can I help you with here?”
Hours passed as Lloyd helped Jay navigate information he needed for the essay and compile it into one place.
“Ugh, are we nearly done? It’s been ages, and now it’s 6:30.” Jay rubbed his eyes and ran his fingers through his hair as Lloyd chuckled.
“Yeah, we’re nearly done, don’t worry.”
Jay went back to typing and Lloyd continued to guide him. “That’s good, now all you need to do is write the ending paragraph and the conclusion.”
Jay nodded, yawning as he kept on typing. Lloyd took out his own laptop to work on anything he had due while Jay finished up his essay.
Once Jay had finally finished (and Lloyd had proof read everything), Jay turned in the essay and basically flung his laptop off to the side.
“Hhhhaa that took forever.” Jay groaned, sitting up better to stretch a bit. “Ugh, that combined with all my other homework, I just want to sleep and never wake up.”
Lloyd chuckled and set his laptop down. “Well at least you finally finished! Now you probably won’t fail that class.”
“Yeah– wait, probably?”
“Kidding, kidding.” Lloyd stretched a bit as well, standing up and helping Jay up.
Jay opened his mouth, ready to thank Lloyd for doing so much to help, but the words died on his tongue when Lloyd didn’t let go of his hand. As Jay looked down at his slightly shorter best friend, Jay felt his heart race in an overwhelming way. The same feeling he had felt earlier washed over him and Lloyd reached up, encasing his face with his hands.
Lloyd gently tugged Jay down, and like before, Lloyd pushed his lips against Jay’s. Jay felt his knees go weak as he melted in Lloyd’s grasp, Lloyd’s lips feeling almost heavenly against
Jay pulled Lloyd closer and placed his hands on his waist while Lloyd wrapped his arms around Jay's neck.
Lloyd wasted no time in deepening the kiss, tilting his head and lightly licking Jay's lip. Jay let out a light whimper and as Lloyd gently nibbled his bottom lip, Jay fell back onto Lloyd's bed.
Lloyd followed him, climbing onto Jay's lap without breaking the kiss. Jay sighed a bit and leaned back against the wall.
Lloyd moved his hands down, and moved to start leaving kisses along Jay's jaw and Jay tugged on Lloyd's jacket.
"Mm, Lloyd.."
Both boys froze, both suddenly out of whatever trance that washed over them.
Neither of them moved, each afraid of what the other may say.
Finally, Lloyd let out a sigh, and slowly slid off Jay’s lap. “I.. Shoot, I didn’t… I never…” Lloyd ran his hand through his hair.
Jay blinked, before also sighing. “Lloyd…” Jay shifted a bit.
Lloyd bit his lip and moved his gaze literally everywhere but Jay’s eyes. “I don’t like talking, so I took a risk? I guess? I just wanted you to know I like you. And I really, really wanted to kiss you.”
“Lloyd, hun, I think that was a bit more than a kiss.”
“I got carried away!” Lloyd whined, covering his mouth with his hand. “A-Anyways, I’m sorry, I probably should’ve asked first, but, I dunno…”
Jay snorted a bit and fell back against the wall again. “Just kiss me, you awkward green bean.”
Lloyd nodded and quickly collapsed into Jay’s arms, connecting their lips again. Jay moved his hands up to the back of Lloyd’s head to pull him closer and Jay felt him smile against his lips.
Lloyd pulled away briefly, and Jay ran his hand down the side of his face. “Stay the night. Please?”
Jay shrugged, pressing a kiss to Lloyd’s head. “Yeah, why not?”
Lloyd let out a small whispered ‘yess’ as Jay pulled him back into another kiss. The two of them kept getting closer to each other as their kiss deepened, completely in their own world, until the doorknob jiggled and the door eventually opened.
“Hey, Lloyd, I got back from that date with– whoA–”
Lloyd jumped off Jay’s lap and whipped his head in the direction of his roommate, Kai. “Okay, wow, I told you about my date you couldn’t tell me you had one of your own? Especially if you were planning on making out with them as I walk through the door??”
Lloyd coughed, turning his gaze to the floor, and Jay determined the ceiling looked really nice today. “Yeah, uhm, J-Jay needed help with doing homework.”
Kai raised an eyebrow, his arms crossed. “Yeah, well, do you happen to be said homework, orrr…”
“No, I swear, I needed help with the essay from Mrs. Misako. That was it until, well.. Until that wasn’t it.” Jay chuckled nervously, leaning hard against the wall.
“Well, since you're here now, why don’t you tell us all about your date with Morro.” Lloyd smirked, flipping the attention on Kai instead.
“Ohoho, Morro huh?” Jay mimicked Lloyd’s smirk, and Kai rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, fine.” Kai dropped his bag and sat on the edge of the bed.
Kai went over his day with Morro while Jay and Lloyd giggled the entire time. Kai eventually went over to Morro’s dorm instead (he refused to be there when Jay was staying over, and Morro was more than happy to host Kai) and came back the next day.
And Jay did not fail his history class.
