Work Text:
Izuku woke up, the sun shining on his face. He let out a sleepy hum and turned around to snuggle up to Kacchan and sleep some more. But when he reached out towards his partner, he wasn’t there and Izuku opened his eyes in confusion.
Not only was Kacchan not in bed with him, Izuku wasn’t even in their bedroom. It took him a second to remember he was sleeping over at Ochako’s and Tenya’s house and why. But when he did, an excited smile overtook his face and he buried his head in his pillow.
Next to him on the bedside table, his phone let out a tiny explosion noise and Izuku hurried to grab it.
Kacchan 💥🧡: Time to get up, nerd. Don’t be late.
Izuku🥦💚 : Morning Kacchan Don’t worry! I love you!
Kacchan 💥🧡: Love you too
He was distracted from his phone by a knock on his door and Ochako entering the guest bedroom.
“Good morning!” she beamed at him and he couldn’t help but grin back at her. “Are you ready for your big day?”
“Good morning!” he replied and threw back his covers. “I think I was born ready for this.”
His best friend snorted but her eyes were warm and kind when she answered. “You know, if it was anyone else I would say they were cheesy. But since it’s you and Bakugou I can’t help but agree..”
Izuku laughed and looked over to the wardrobe where his suit was hanging. Today was the day that all of his dreams were finally coming true. Today was the day he would marry his Kacchan.
Izuku honestly couldn’t wait.
Katsuki put his phone away after answering Deku’s last text and went back to watching his mother fuss over his suit.
“For fuck’s sake, old hag,” he groaned out and walked over to her. “The suit is fine. Stop worrying!”
“Fine is not acceptable for my son’s wedding day,” she answered in a clipped tone and continued to work the lint roller over the material of his suit.
“Let your mother fuss a little bit,” his father said and laid a calming hand on his shoulder. “Your friends will be here any second.”
“Don’t remind me,” Katsuki sighed out and put a hand over his face in fake annoyance. It was convenient to hide his excited smile. “More idiots who are trying to make a mess out of things.”
“Don’t call your hard-working mother an idiot, you ungrateful brat!” Mitsuki chastised and playfully swatted at him with the lint roller. “Now get going or you won’t have time for your face mask!”
“Why is Bakugou even doing a face mask?” came the confused question from the doorway. “Isn’t having perfect skin kind of a part of his quirk?”
“And that’s the reason why your face looks dry as dirt,” Katsuki answered.
“Out of my way, Eijirou!” Mina squeezed herself through the doorway that Kirishima was still blocking. “I have a lot of work to do and we don’t have that much time!”
“How much work can there be? Most of us are guys,” Kaminari said and gave a confused look towards Sero who only shook his head.
“You poor, misguided soul.”
“All of you will get your make-up done,” Mina said in a tone that dared anyone to question her. No one did.
Mitsuki nodded her head in approval.
“Let’s get to it, then! Our Blasty needs to get hitched after all!”
The rest of the idiots started cheering and invaded his room, placing their various outfits and bags around the room. Katsuki groaned again in annoyance but no one was paying him any attention. Only his father gave him a knowing smile.
“Are you nervous?” he asked in a low voice while Mina unearthed what seemed to be a whole shop’s worth of makeup in the background.
“Why would I be nervous?” Katsuki asked with a smirk. “It’s just Deku.”
And it was true. It was just Deku. It had always been just Deku. And after today it would only ever be just Deku for Katsuki.
He had no reason to be nervous.
“Oh, my baby!” Inko whispered as she pressed a handkerchief to her mouth. Her eyes were filled with tears. “You look so handsome!”
“ Mom ,” Izuku sniffed, his eyes filling with tears as well. “Don’t cry. If you start crying, I will start crying, and then Ochako will have to do this makeup for the third time today!”
“It’s fine,” Ochako said next to him and patted him on the shoulder while handing over the box of tissues. “I calculated at least four makeup touch ups before the ceremony starts. And all of it is waterproof so it should hold up a few tears.”
She gave him and his mother a critical look.
“Even though I’m not sure how much waterproof actually means in the face of the Midoriya tear ducts.”
“Oh, Izuku! I’m so happy for you!” his mom repeated as she clutched at his arm, trying not to wrinkle his suit. “My baby is getting married!”
“I am,” he laughed wetly, a few tears escaping his eyes with how wide he smiled.
“Come on, you two, you can clutch at each other while sitting here so I can finish your hair and makeup,” Ochako instructed and gently pushed them into two waiting chairs. Tsuyu was already standing at the ready and got started at Inko’s hair while Ochako carefully wove a few tiny white and orange flowers through the small braids at Izuku’s temple.
He was wearing a white suit with a black shirt, a white vest, and an orange tie. When he looked at himself in the mirror, he almost couldn’t believe it was actually him looking back. As a child, he had always imagined he would grow up, get a cool quirk and be heroes together with Kacchan. He’d also imagined the two of them getting married. It had been this silly fantasy between two childhood best friends. As he grew older and the distance between them grew further, he buried these hopes and dreams deep inside himself.
But today, against all odds, he would fulfill the final part of his childhood dream. He had a quirk. He was a Pro Hero. He and Kacchan fought side by side. And now he would be able to be with Kacchan forever.
Just thinking about it made Izuku tear up again. Ochako clicked her tongue in playful annoyance before dabbing a tissue underneath his eyes.
“Honestly,” she said, the laugh clear in her voice. “Leave some tears for later.”
“Oh, believe me, I am an endless fountain of love and tears right now.”
“Aren’t you always when it comes to you Kacchan?”
“I am!” he exclaimed with a healthy amount of pride.
“He has always been this way,” Inko sighed and nodded at Tsuyu in thanks while getting up from her chair. “I feel like as soon as he was able to talk it was only ever ‘ Kacchan’s amazing !”
His friends started laughing but Izuku only grinned.
“I refuse to be shamed on my wedding day!”
“Alright, alright!” Ochako laughed and put away her sponge. “I think we’re all done here.”
“Right on time,” Todoroki’s voice sounded from the doorway. He walked into the room and smiled at all of them. “Iida asked me to come to get you guys, it’s time to take our places. Midoriya, you’ll have to wait here for a few more minutes.”
“Sure thing. Thank you, Todoroki-kun.”
His mother pulled him into one last hug and his friends patted him on his back and then Izuku was alone. He took a deep breath and looked himself over in the mirror one last time. He adjusted the red and orange flowers in his lapel and the small All Might Pin he had hidden behind it. He knew Kacchan was wearing the same one. It was their secret, a small call back to simpler times and how everything had started out with them.
Also, he wouldn’t be Midoriya Izuku if there wasn’t something All Might themed at his wedding, right?
There was a knock on his door and his smile grew wider.
Speaking of All Might. It was time that Midoriya Izuku became Bakugou Izuku.
Katsuki watched as Todoroki gave his OK signal from behind a hedge and he felt his heartbeat pick up.
This was it.
“Nervous, bro?” Kirishima asked as he patted Katsuki’s back.
“As if,” Katsuki snorted and gave his best friend a grin. “Now get going, Shitty Hair. Don’t you dare delay my wedding.”
Kirishima winked at him before hurrying down the aisle to take his place with the other groomsmen and bridesmaids behind the hedge.
Katsuki’s eyes wandered over the rows and rows of chairs that had been dragged out onto the lawn in front of UA. The air was warm and the gentle breeze scattered the white and pink petals of the surrounding cherry blossom trees over the whole venue.
When they had talked about where to hold the wedding, both of them had agreed that they wanted it to be a place with significance to them and their relationship. It had been easy to agree on UA. Convincing Aizawa -sensei and President Nezu had been slightly harder but everything had worked out in the end.
And now they were finally here.
Next to him, Iida cleared his throat and adjusted his tie before giving a signal. The piano started playing and the guests stood up from their chairs. It took Katsuki a few seconds to place the music but when he did he was torn between groaning and tearing up.

It was a good cover of an older song and Katsuki was sure none of the other guests would be able to place it. It was the theme from one of the earlier All MIght movies. It depicted All MIght at the beginning of his career in America and how he and his partner David Shield started working together. The movie had been highly controversial because of the romantic subtext between All Might and Shield, but Katsuki and Deku had loved it.
And now his ridiculous nerd had found a way to incorporate it into their wedding.
Slowly, the pairs of groomsmen and bridesmaids started to make their way down the aisle. But Katsuki barely paid attention to them. He was focused on the entrance to the garden. He watched with bated breath as the music started to swell and first Eri, their flower girl, walked out. After her came Kouta, their ring bearer, and after him came his parents. And then, finally, it was Izuku’s turn.
He was flanked on both sides. On his left was his mother, her eyes filled with tears but a smile so wide it rivaled her son’s. And on Deku’s right was All Might, clutching onto Izuku’s arm and only barely able to hold back his tears himself.
And then Katsuki’s eyes met Izuku’s and the whole party faded away.
He looked radiant and like everything kind and good in this world and suddenly Katsuki could feel his own eyes fill with tears. While Izuku walked towards him, catching up to him, just like he had always done, Katsuki couldn’t help but look back on everything they had been through together. Their childhood, that horrible time in middle school, their rivalry and the rekindling of their friendship in high school, until finally their partnership, at first as Side Kicks and later as Pro Heroes.
And now they were here, partners in everything, and they would be together for the rest of their lives. Katsuki was sure of it.
They finally arrived at the end of the aisle and Deku hugged both of them tightly before taking the last couple of steps towards Katsuki. Not being able to wait any longer, Katsuki met him halfway and offered him his hand.
“Hi Kacchan,” Deku said with a smile, tears in his eyes, as he grabbed Katsuki’s offered hand with his own and intertwined their fingers.
“Hey Deku,” Katsuki answered and was a bit surprised at how hard it was to speak around the lump in his throat.
Both of them turned and faced Iida, while the guests took their seats again. The music got quieter but kept on playing in the background. Iida adjusted his glasses and smiled at them.
“We have gathered here today for one of the most joyous occasions one can gather for. Today we are joining these two young men in matrimony together. I am beyond honored that they have chosen me to wed them. I have been by their side as a classmate, as a colleague, and as a friend. I was able to see them fight, to see them reconcile, and to see them grow. I know many people in both of your pasts have doubted you or your devotion to each other but I can say with confidence that you have proven every single one of these people wrong.”
He cleared his throat again and blinked away a few tears.
“Before you exchange vows, I ask that you both affirm your intentions. Bakugou Katsuki, do you take Midoriya Izuku to be your wedded husband? Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, be true and faithful to him as long as you both shall live?”
He didn’t even hesitate in his answer.
“I do,” he said. He ignored that he sounded a bit more choked up than usual. It was his damned wedding day, people better cut him some slack, damn it.
Iida turned towards Deku.
“Midoriya Izuku, do you take Bakugou Katsuki to be your wedded husband? Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, be true and faithful to him as long as you both shall live?”
Deku was still trying hard to hold back his tears, Katsuki could see it in his face. He took a shuddering breath before answering.
“I do,” he croaked out and Katsuki wanted to kiss him.
“Then I ask you now to exchange the rings and your vows.”
Kouta stepped forward, the hands holding the rings shaking with the effort not to cry. Katsuki took the ring with a nod and lifted their joined hands. He took a deep breath before reciting the words he had written down last night while Izuku was away.
“Izuku,” he said and already he could see Deku’s composure breaking. “You have been my best friend, my rival, my confidant, and my greatest challenge. But most importantly, you are the love of my life and you make me happier than I could ever imagine. You have made me a better person, simply by being by my side and loving me, pushing me to do better, to be better. Thank you for giving me a second chance. I love you.”
And with that, he slid the ringer onto Deku’s finger.
Deku’s hand shook in his as he reached for the other ring.
“Katsuki,” he said and Katsuki watched as tears started rolling down his cheeks and caught at the edge of Deku’s smile. “You were my reason back then, my reason now, my reason every day. You strengthen my weaknesses, bring focus to my dreams. You are my dream. No matter where life leads me, I know that as long as you are there, that is where I am meant to be.”
And then he slid the ring on Katsuki’s finger.
It was like a small puzzle piece clicking into place or a punch to the gut. Everything slowed down and sped up at the same time and Katsuki could do nothing but stare at this amazing man that was the one constant in his life.
Distantly, he heard Iida’s voice.
“With this, I am proud to pronounce you two husband and husband. You may kiss to seal your bond!”
He wasn’t sure who leaned in first, the only thing he knew was that the hands with their new rings were in between them, still clutching at each other as they kissed. One kiss turned into two, into three and somewhere in between Katsuki stopped counting. Distantly he could hear their crowd of guests cheering and clapping, but none of that was important right now.
The only important thing was the man in his arms.
Deku.
His husband.
And Katsuki knew that there was nothing in the world that could separate them ever again.
