Chapter Text
It was cold on top of the mountain, even so the view that was set out on top was what made up for all his troubles on his way. He had lived many lives, most were just to save the ones he loved. But now…now he’ll be able to finally rest. The day he waited for…had finally come.
The man sat down on the snow, it had been ages since he'd seen his own world. He wasn’t able to go back…maybe in his next life he’ll be able to see it again.
He Smiled a hint of sorrow shown.
“Finally…” he whispered, the smile became brighter. And with that he let out his last breath.
———————————————————————-
Sand was everywhere around him, except for the few patches of grass. Wind blowing.
Jonah just stood, holding his assault rifle with only his right hand. Looking up he saw a fighter jet flying across the sky.
“ what killed my father and mother was a prototype model fighter jet just like this one, a new-type bomb….. Those who think of weapons, those who manufacture them, those who deal with them, those who use them….”
“I hate them”
————————————————————————
“Come on, recruit Jonah! One-two! one-two!, left-right! Left-right!” Said a woman as she dragged Jonah down the hallway. She was white haired with blue eyes, always seen with a wide Cheshire grin.
God must have been toying with him, having him now work for one of the people he claims to despise. But alas he’s found himself working for an arms dealer. Koko Hekatyar was her name. It wasn’t his choice to work for her… but the kids….
“With you I’ll have 9 bodyguards, the others are all gathered here. They’re a strange bunch, but don’t let that bother you” they made their way towards a wooden door that seemed to be guarded by two guards. Koko looked down at her silver watch. “We would have taken time to give you a formal introduction but… a problem seems to have arisen.” She held up a handgun. “Your gun”.
Jonah took it. The guards, Wilee and Mao had now spotted them.
“Koko, who the hell is this kid…?” They asked as they noticed Jonah standing behind Koko, he didn’t show much emotion, and grew cold from war.
“This kid?” She mussed, slamming the door into Lehm as he drank wine, spitting it out.” ATTENTION EVERYONE!!” She exclaimed loudly.
The other Bodyguards didn’t really seem
surprised by her antics, just looking up from whatever they were doing to look up at her.
“This is Jonah”
‘A new recruit, a Child Soldier?…He’s already packing heat!!shit!’ They all collectively agreed, not daring to say it out loud.
“ All right, All right, Don’t piss yourselves!!” She laughed, the smile on her face never going away. “Tojo. Explain the situation so this one here understands as well” she patted Jonah’s shoulder as she faced the Japanese bodyguard. Tojo had his laptop, looking over the mission info.
“ Nothing’s really changed. The ministry of home affairs central custom security squad is requesting you to meet them Koko. Our container is still being held up.” Tojo reported.” Petty officials are being unreasonable on the one hand.” This breaks Koko’s smiling streak into a small frown.
“Hmm… if we bribe customs at the asking price, the fourth half – term accounts will totally be in the red!! They didn’t intend to let us pass from the beginning!” Koko turned “In other words… we’re going to have to get our property back. OK?” Koko explained to Jonah, looking down at the 12 year old.
“ … Whatever. All I need to know is who to shoot and where… That’s all.” Jonah finally replied looking down towards the side. Koko softly smiled before turning back at the adults, clapping her hands she yelled.
“VAlMET, LEHM,make preparations to move out!! Preparations!!”she yelled.
————————————————————————
/… miss Hekmatyar, besides knowing the influence that that container would have on my country, what is it what you’re saying, right?… No, not only my country! The neighboring nations-/ The man said over the phone. “ There is no way we can hand this over to the military! We have enough knowledge of the area-
Absolutely not! If you’re going to persist stubbornly!! It will take a measure of fitness. Don’t regret it later, little girl./
“ That's my line” Koko wined, driving while Jonah was in the back, cutting the call. She looked through the rearview mirror “ Jonah, what do you think of your new comrades?”
“….Nothing really.” Koko deflated at the response.
“ Before I employed you I ran a thorough background check. Where you lived and where you fought, what you liked and what you don’t , what you did before to be expelled from your former place…. You hate weapons don’t you, Jonah?” He didn’t bother to reply, he just continued to loaded bullets into his gun.” …you don’t like answering either” she mused.
“I hate small talk.”
“I know, but from now on that won’t pass.”
——————-——————————————————
“….so,” Lehm started as he drove, lighting up a cigarette,” what do you think, Valmet?” She had been sitting in the back, her arms crossed, looking out the window.
“?.. oh about Jonah? When he hasn’t even said one word and you ask what I think, it’s difficult….. But I suppose, The sharpness of his presence isn’t normal. Koko Could be in danger! She’s driving alone with a dangerous boy soldier like that!” She was worried.” It’s always like this when a new recruit arrives. She's too enthusiastic! If anything happens to her I’ll rip him apart and die as well” she went on to have a coughing fit by the sudden assault of the cigarette smoke filling her lungs.
“ Hey, Lehm. Who said you can smoke just because we’re alone! Just when did you light it up!? I’m gonna smell like a freaking ashtray.” She covered her nose and mouth to lessen the smell.
————————————————————————
After driving in silence for a while, Jonah surprisingly was the one who broke it.
“….hey.”
“What? What? Ask me anything!” Koko beamed.
“How do you deal with Tails in this unit?” He questioned innocently.
“Oh, you know,” Koko grinned, opening up the Sun roof, making Jonah take his assault rifle.” THE ONE WHO STRIKES FIRST WINS!! IF YOU SEE THEM THAN YOU GET TO SHOT EM!!”
Jonah popped up from the Sun roof, quickly settling his gun on top of the car. He started shooting at the car’s behind them, not allowing them to attack first. This of course scared Koko, not being warned about this.
“ Jonah?! Jonah!?” She exclaimed loudly.
“He’s flipped out.” Lehm just said as he drove the car that was in front of Koko. Valmet just whistled.
Koko called out again once Jonah was done. She had tears in her eyes.
“ COULD YOU AT LEAST SAY SOMETHING BEFORE YOU START FIRING?! YOU’RE GONNA GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK!?” Jonah looked back Noting that more of the other’s car’s colleagues came to stop them.
“ Sorry…that’s very unlikely.” He reported looking a little pitiful. “ That car just now was a scout. The next one is the real thing.”
Jonah looked back at the car then down at Koko.
“ Koko!! The left side.” He warned.
“A Fresh Supply of troops !?” She looked back. A military armed vehicle was hit on their tail, bumping into them from the left, causing Koko to swerve. Jonah was not so lucky, he fell back into the car, his back hitting the seats.
He got back up gripping the sunroof, before resuming his previous position.
“ That Fucken Official?” Koko noted the badge of one of the men in the other car, she grinned which turned into a small smile.” Still this is a solid car. Maybe I should buy some Volvo stocks.
————————————————————————
It had been a while since they managed to lose their pursuers, but something still made Jonah uneasy, he still kept watch, his gun at the ready. As he predicted he saw the Armed vehicle coming their way. He looked down into the car, about to notify Koko, being cut off by her.
“ Jonah? About before, you called me ‘Koko’ didn’t you? I didn’t mishear that, so that’s great, I’m happy, from now on…”
“Kok-“
It was quick, a mistake that turned out to be deadly. A soldier from the car behind them had shot a
Missile towards their car. Hitting the car, making Koko lose control of the car. The missile had not detonated yet, some miracle but it was short lived.
Koko dwarves hard which only seemed to worsen things, making the car flip over and over.
————————————————————————
‘It….hurts…’ Jonah thought as he regained consciousness. He could taste blood in his mouth, slowly leaking out. He opened his eyes slowly. He couldn’t move, All he could do was breathe , but even that was difficult.
By some miracle Jonah was able to get out of the way of the missile…but…. His left leg was not so lucky, torn off when it hit. He was all bloody, didn’t know the extent of his injuries, but they were bad, he was the only one that was poking out of the sunroof.
“Jo-nah” Koko said weakly.
He let out a series of groans and whimpers, the blood in his mouth became plentiful, making him choke.
‘ I’m… a failure…couldn’t even do this job right. On the first day too….’ He slowly felt his body turn cold, and began to turn numb.’ So.. this is how it ends’ this eyes began to widen as the sudden heat hit his body.
‘ wait…. no’
Filled with pain, everything soon went black.
————————————————————————
It had been a while since they managed to lose their pursuers, but something still made Jonah uneasy, he still kept watch, his gun at the ready. It wasn't something he experienced before. That…vision…no. It felt more like he actually experienced it. Felt the pain and everything.
The vehicle that had attacked them before came into view. Seeing one of the men come out on top of the car, Carrying a missile launcher.
“ Jonah? About before, you called me ‘Koko’ didn’t you? I didn’t mishear that, so that’s great, I’m happy, from now on…”
“Koko! Koko!!” Jonah unpinned a grenade taping it two times on the roof of the car. Once the man in the other car aimed at them, he threw the grenade, faintly hearing the other man’s words before he shot at them.
“Time to say goodbye. See ya arms dealer”
“GET DOWN!! IT'S AN ANTI-TANK MISSILE.”
He yelled, making Koko speed up. They swerved a little due to them being close enough to feel the blast. Koko managed to take control again, luckily neither of them were hurt.
“It’s a Javelin AWS!!!” Koko explained
The missile ended up hitting a poor civilian’s car into a toy shop. A white stuffed dog landed on top of the car, which Jonah managed to catch. He smiled at the toy before dropping it into the car.
“Hehehe”
‘Was that a laugh?’ Koko thought, surprised. “ It’s 20 seconds until the next shot is loaded.” she informed the boy.
“ It’s ok, I won’t let them shoot the next round” Jonah aimed his gun.
He kept his promise. The man had gotten angry giving Jonah enough time to shoot him. The car exploded itself with the missile inside.
Koko smiled, as she glanced at Jonah, giving him a fist bump.
Jonah sat back down, frowning. Something came to mind, now that they were in the clear, Jonah allowed himself to think back on what he saw before. Was he phased about his “death”? Slowly dying from his injuries…and being blown up. Failing to protect the person who hired him. The kids he would leave behind.
He looked down at the stuffed dog, already deciding to take it with him. Maybe it will help.
————————————————————————
Before he knew it, they arrived at a warehouse which contained their stock. Koko parked the car. As they walked inside Koko spoke up.
“Jonah…” she said, leaning down to Jonah’s height, looking him in the eye. “ Let's say you killed me, the weapons dealer, right here, right now, and achieve part of your revenge. managing to kick your way through my bodyguards and escape.… They may not like it, but they’re pretty strong. The only thing you have is your gun, leaving you with no other choice but to use it in order to be able to get past them…tell me… could you throw away your gun?
Jonah just remained quiet, the grip of his gun increasing. Like he’s done all day, he did not allow any emotion to show through.
“ That would never happen, would it? There is no way you would be able to discard weapons. Because the hate you have for them is stronger than anyone’s, but you also know the dependence of having them more than anyone.“ she continued.” Follow me, Jonah… I am a weapons dealer. I’ll teach you the way to get along with them.”
Jonah looked away from her.
“Why do you sell weapons?” Koko just stepped forward, showing him the way. She smiled that same grin she always wears.
“For world peace, of course”
