Chapter Text
"HELLO FRIEND!! HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS FINE, FINE DAY?"
She jumped slightly at the yelling of the large animatronic daycare attendant in front of her.
"I'm good Sundrop!" She lifted her arms up to signify that she wanted to be picked up- which I did happily.
"WE WERE DRAWING PICTURES WITH CRAYONS AND COLORED PENCILS! DO YOU WANT TO JOIN US?"
"Yea!" The 6 year old girl nodded. I walked over to where a few other kids were sitting at small tables with coloring books and art supplies.
I put her down in front of them and skipped off after letting them show me their beautiful drawings. I love my job so much- yet more and more children stopped coming back to the daycare.
Did the price go up?
Of course it didn't you imbecile! They're scared of us!
That's mean! Don't say that.
I continued to skip around the daycare and I came to a stop at the ball pit. A few children were playing marco-polo there. They saw me and asked me to join them.
I happily accepted and played a few rounds- which I let them win a lot. What can I say? It's so cute to see their faces light up when they win.
I heard my name from across the room, it sounded like an adult so I excused myself from the game and walked over.
It was a guard with a parent.
"HELLO! ARE YOU LOOKING FOR SOMEBODY? BECAUSE IF YOU ARE THEN-"
"Inside voice sundrop!" The guard yelled.
"Oh.. sorry." It was kinda easy to forget how loud I am considering I have to talk over a lot of noisy children all the time. I like those children a lot. They're fun. I wonder how they're doing over in the ballpit?
"This woman here has a few complaints about your 'service'." The guard did air quotes for the last word.
"Oh no. Did something happen?"
The guard rolled her eyes. "Yes! I-" She looked at the flustered mother. "You explain."
"I left my son here for a few hours while I went to work and I came to him crying! He also wouldn't go to bed with the lights off and he wets the bed when they're on!"
I didn't scare him did I? "What is his name?" I asked quieter than intended.
"Allen." I remember him. Small chubby boy with brown hair and looooots of freckles. He had a knack for trying to break rules.
"I don't know why that's happening, I swear."
It's because he's naughty. He got punished for what he did.
Shhhhh I'm busy. Wait, what did you do?
"You have to know because it only started happening when he got back from here!"
One of the kids ran up to me. "Sundrop? Isn't it naptime?"
"Oh! Yes it is." I said. I looked back up at the guard. I didn't mean to be rude but I told them that I had to put the kids down for bed, and I kinda said in a little bit of a rude way that they were gonna have to wait- but I didn't mean to!
"You can talk to moondrop. He might know." I walked off, leaving two dumbfounded adults behind.
I gathered all the kids up to the nap area. The nap area was a small closed off area (closed off as in a little barrier about a foot tall with a gap to get in) with a soft comfy floor for sleeping on. It wasn't carpet, but like a big pillow, it had Moondrop's signature blue color and little moons scattered on it. There were little white pillows all around and blankets to match. It always looked so cozy. I want to sleep there one day, but unfortunately when the lights go out- moondrop automatically replaces me.
They all laid down and waited for me to turn the light off. I walked over and looked back one last time. I sure hope moondrop doesn't do anything bad this time.
Don't worry! I'll be a good boy. Hehehehe.
I don't trust you.
You shouldn't.
I turned the light off.
