Chapter Text
Leaving the orphanage for the city and University should have been great... But the outside, adult world holds as many disappointments as wonders. Surely that can’t be all there is to the world? Howard is sorely disappointed. Yes, upper studies are nice, but people are petty, mean, hateful, just as bad if not even worse than his childhood’s bullies. So many places are dirty, polluted, broken down; is there still clean nature anywhere?
Surely there must be something else, something more, something better!
He studies the universe, physics, stars and space, and whatever he learns of human psychology and society before disregarding it altogether is that, human legends stem from something real: the deep rooted knowledge that there is a way out.
Normal people would seek to help make their own world better; he seeks another, different world to run away to instead. Not even another planet across space and stars: another reality altogether, across dimensions. He wants to know how the world is made, to prod the very fabric of the multiverse, far, the farthest possible away from mundanity.
(What do you mean it’s not realistic? He knows it’s possible, it has to, or else what’s the point in anything?)
