   Summary

   John returns to England still recovering from his injuries at Krefeld. Meanwhile there are agents who would rather he did not survive his wounds at all.
   His brother, Hal, determines that he would be safer at Helwater than in London and arranges with the Dunsanys for Jamie Fraser to be his personal bodyguard.
   Neither man is keen on this arrangement. The fact that it has been decided that Jamie should share a room with John is one of those reasons.
