“Y/n, you’re stepping on my feet.”
“I know.”
A long pause.
“You look like a lamb trying to walk for the first time”
If looks could kill, the man you’re currently dancing with would be a pile of ashes right now.
You had to accompany Eren, of all people, to the Mayor’s Ball and charity event as his fiancé to keep an eye out on one of the attendees who’s been giving you and your team trouble for the past few months. The banquet hall was filled with obnoxious laughter, clinking glasses, and numerous dancing couples surrounding the both of you. The LED spotlights did a fantastic job at giving you a pounding headache, and Eren’s nonsense chattering was just the cherry on top. The two of you had just gotten back inside the hall after spending most of your time outside on the balcony, when Eren insisted on joining other couples to dance in the center as a live jazz band played in the corner, because “If we don’t, we’ll look suspicious.”
Eren discreetly scanned the crowd, making sure there wasn’t anyone he recognized. His hands rested gently onto the small of your waist as you adjusted your grip from around his neck to simply pressing your forearms against his torso as you swayed your hips to the rhythm of the music playing. His eyes trailed down to your exposed cleavage, before quickly diverting them to meet your eyes.
“This is the most romantic date we’ve been on, Y/n.”
“This is the only date we’ve been on.”
“You sound disappointed.”
“Believe me, not in the slightest.”
He felt a surge of pride as you avoided eye contact, teeth gnawing at the inside of your cheek. He knew that was a nervous habit of yours. He simply knew you too well.
“Oh, cheer up, babe,” Eren snickered, his slicked back, blonde wig shining underneath the banquet hall’s chandeliers, “I can take you out whenever you’d like. All you have to do is ask.”
“Is this your sorry attempt at flirting?” you hissed in a hushed tone, absentmindedly tugging a strand of your blonde wig in distaste. This thing was heavy and itchy. You couldn’t wait to take it off.
“Maybe. Is that a challenge,” he asked into your ear, minty breath sending a shiver down your spine. You gripped his dress shirt in fistfuls.
“Ah- .. no, I-”
His hands slid down from your waist, to your ass, before settling onto the side of your thigh, fingers patting the leg holster underneath your dress. You felt your face heat up as you met his gaze, his eyes observing you intently, breath ghosting your face as he leaned forward to close the gap between you. You met him at the very last second ,his lips feather-like as he brushed them against your own.
“Look,” Levi’s frustrated voice suddenly crackled into your earpieces, “the entire team knows you both have this bizarre love-hate relationship okay- and the sexual tension is probably suffocating your very last brain cells, and quite frankly, me as well, but can you two jump each other’s bones another day, preferably not when you two are in the middle of a mission? Even Sasha here is gagging.”
“It’s true.”
You exchanged mortified glances with Eren, jaws dropping and mouths hanging open in silence.
Muffled laughter of your other team members was audible through your ear piece. You watched in fascination as Eren’s ear turned a bright shade of pink.
“Uh,” Armin called from the other end, tone awkward and amused all at once, “wasn’t that a bit much, Captain? I think they were having a moment.”
“Absolutely not,” the hacker spat.
“Eren?”
“They’re not answering. Did they die,” Jean mumbled in concern.
“I wish,” Eren grumbled. You couldn’t help but laugh at his response. He gauged your reaction momentarily, before reaching up to muting his earpiece and mumbling meekly, “We’re finishing this conversation when we get back.”
“Y/n, tell that idiot I can still hear him.”
