It was a long and exhausting day for you, but seeing your boyfriend on the couch waiting for you (not like he’ll admit it) instantly made your day.
You lay your head on his shoulder, leaning into his warmth. Samatoki instinctively wrapped an arm around you and pulled you closer, placing a kiss on your head. You smiled at that.
“Thank you…”
Samatoki blushed at your smile. He hated the effect you had on him. Seeing you content, happy, and smiling was sometimes all he needed. Since when did something so simple make him so happy? Was it even all that simple? He couldn’t help but adore you… maybe he even…
“What are you thinking about?” You asked, since he was making quite the puzzled face.
“Hmph, nothing.”
There he goes again acting all bashful. So cute. It was something you loved about him. You loved everything about him. He would probably disagree if he knew what you thought about him but it was all true. You loved his caring nature, how he sometimes got grumpy over the smallest things, how his hair fell over his eyes.
“I love you,” The words had tumbled out of your lips before you could stop them. Well, it doesn’t matter anyway because it is the truth after all. You did love him. Might as well tell him.
Samatoki froze.
There was a long moment of awkward silence before he suddenly yelled, “FUCK!” He slapped his hand on his forehead. “I was gonna say it to you first…”
“Help I’m sorry!”
“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU APOLOGIZING FOR?”
“I DON’T KNOW!”
“You are so strange,” He grabbed your face and kissed you. “Stop apologizing for stupid shit… I love you too.”
You smiled against his lips. “I love you more.”
“WRONG! I love you more, my love.” And then he kissed you again. He was mad you beat him to the chase, but he loved you. And that’s all that matters.
