Summary:

‘Don't have to write me a letter, 'cause I'll always be right here
Closer to you than your next breath, my dear’ — Sweet Carolina - Lana Del Rey

Loosely Barrissoka inspired poem, themes of blood and distance, struggles and triumphs, love and war.

Notes:

I was inspired by Lana Del Rey’s: Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass and what better to do than write some very very loosely Barrissoka poetry. I love these two more so much and they deserve much better. I am really tempted to make a Barrissoka playlist. Anyways, enjoy this 280 word poem.

(This can also be independent from Star Wars entirely, but the inspiration also ties into those two characters and their tumultuous dynamic)

Work Text:

Do the diamonds on my face match the edge

in your voice when you speak and when you cry

in the bathroom light

Quiet, I say then

for a voice that could never be silenced

Loud, I can’t help it

it burns my ears like old TV static

Lord, it’s too much

With the vice-clutch you have on my cold hand

Weakly, I can’t stand

You are there, you always have been for me

Land, it’s so, so close

Pioneering black waves by Mirial’s

coast, you lead me there

Do the strands of your hair match the darkness

in my heart when you grasp it tighter than

iron, it’s on your lips

Your ghost trails my mind

Stars of Orion splattered out on a

c-constellation

Your face and mine, in which I cannot find

worry lines, don’t fear

I will always be here for you, my dear

Time is running thin

Like the walls between us, dew in the air

Breathe, you tell me to

I cannot, not when I no longer have

you, in my arms’ reach

I should come closer, to be in your touch

Please, tell me softly

Am I too much, or am I just a blood

sucking leech, gone now

The mast has blown, the ship sailed far from near

Whisper, in my ear

‘My love for you is endless’, our lady

she, does defend us

Heart of steel, heart of ice, a heart so real

this cannot be right

I am yours, you are mine, we are one, twine

in vine, stuck with you

Where else would I be

If not by your side

Surely entangled in my own frenzy

I think, you saved me
