Chapter Text
"...hey, are you okay? Wake up. You're having a bad dream..."
Luca gently shook your shoulder, waking you up from a nightmare. You were being cornered in a dark alley, and you had been shouting for help. Now you were back in your bed, face to face with Luca, who was wearing silk pajamas and a worried expression.
You explained your dream to him, and he reached over and took you into his arms. His body was a warm and welcome relief.
"That must have been awful. But I heard you, okay? You were making noises in your sleep. Everything's okay. I'm here."
Luca reassured you, his hand on your upper back, giving you reassuring pats. There was a quiet pause, as the two of you sat there in bed, enjoying each other's company.
"...your dreams are a little difficult to reach, though... Now I kind of don't want you to go back to sleep. I want to be able to protect you."
Luca looked down at you, his deep purple eyes showing a deep sadness for a few moments. He leans down, and the two of you touch foreheads. You tell him that you're just happy to be the one by his side.
"That's good to hear, but I still want to be able to do something for you. Oh! I think I have an idea!" Luca's eyes lit up, and you swore that they brightened up the room. "You don't have anything to do tomorrow, right? Let's go out to get something to eat. I know a place that's still open this late at night. You can't have a nightmare if you don't sleep at night!"
He crawled out of bed, and rummaged through some his closet to hand you one of his hoodies - it smelled a little bit like him. You pull the hoodie on while telling him that it's fine. Bad dreams are something you'll have to deal with. Luca shook his head and looked determinedly at you.
"Still... I can't be with you in your dreams, but I want you to always feel safe. So maybe... even if it's just for tonight. Let me stay with you, and chase the bad dreams away."
