Chapter Text
You usually went to bed without Sonny. He tended to stay up late because of his job. The nights got lonely, and on more than one occasion he'd come home well after the sun rose. It was an arrangement that you understood, but you weren't always happy about.
You definitely weren't happy about it tonight, after a fitful dream where you saw him get hurt, and you were powerless to stop it.
You woke up with tears in your eyes, and sat up in bed, trying to process what you'd just seen, when you hear your bedroom door click.
Terrified, you cling to the covers-
"...! Are you all right? What's wrong? Are you hurt?"
Sonny is next to you in a flash, his eyes full of concern. He looks at you from head to toe, finding you unharmed. He then looks around the room, somewhat frantically. "...the window is secure, no signs of forced entry... You're safe. It's all right. I'm here."
Despite his calmness, Sonny seems to be at a loss as to what to do - he puts his arm on your shoulder to try to calm you, and sits by your side. He pulls out his handkerchief to dry your tears, but pulls it back at the last second.
"Not that one. It's got blo- it's got stuff. Dirty stuff on it. I'll get you some tissues, give me a moment-"
He stands up to leave, but pauses, and looks back at you.
He sits back down at the side of the bed, looking up at you with a wistful smile. He sets his hands on yours and waits for you to calm down, and eventually you do, but you let out a very audible sniff. Sonny laughs a little at the sound, and reaches up to give you a hug.
You hug back tightly, just happy to have him.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. I'm home."
