Work Text:
Seteth thought that he would never have to lose someone so dear to him again after the death of his late wife and mother. He went through all of the precautions so that he wouldn’t lose the only thing that matters more in his life than anything else; his precious daughter, Flayn.
But one argument led to another about her wanting to join the fight with him, and ultimately, he had caved. And, oh, how he wished he hadn’t.
One arrow shot through the dark, catching Flayn off guard. She didn’t have anytime to dodge, for the arrow had already pierced right through her heart. Seteth remembered watching with wide eyes as her’s slowly dulled. He remembered catching her falling frame in his trembling arms as tears gushed down from his eyes as she spoke her final words. He remembered telling her that she shouldn’t waste her energy, just focus on his voice before he yelled for clerics. He remembered whispering frantically in her ear, telling her that her daddy was right there and that he wouldn’t let anything happen to his little flower.
But then, there came a moment where he knew that it was all over. Both of them knew that it was all over. It was when her breaths became labored and she had to clasp onto his arms for some sense of familiarity. As one, single, glistening drop of salt water escaped from her watering eyes and trailed down her face, she whispered her final words to him.
“Father, please forgive me… I am returning to Mother now… before you do.”
Then she fell limp in his arms, and she had breathed her last breath. Seteth had cried out in anguish. Yelling out while their army watched with wide eyes. They went ahead with their plan, going against the Imperial army while they left their leader with his fallen child.
“Flayn! Please, no! No!”
The funerals were held for the fallen only two weeks later. Seteth didn’t go to not one of them, except for Flayn’s. He had walked out of his room that he was given in their place in the kingdom, one of their hideouts, with dark shadows under his eyes. He walked despondently to the kingdom Cathedral where the ceremony was being held. He heard their soldiers giving him condolences for his loss, but that went through one ear and out the other.
He walked into the large Cathedral and looked around. Most of their army was already there and waiting for the ceremony to commence. He saw Rhea standing right in the front of the room… next to his daughter’s form. Flayn, from what he could see, was pale and frail. Not surprising, as she is no longer a part of this world. He sauntered forward, ignoring Rhea’s eyes on him as he basically fell to his knees at his daughter’s side. He looked down at her, and he choked on a wrenching cry as he brought a shaky hand to her vibrant green hair. He twisted a few strands as memories came rushing back to him in an unstoppable dam.

Cichol let out a sigh of relief as he heard the piercing cries of a newborn come from within the room that his lovely wife, Lamora, was giving birth. He knocked on the door, and it opened up with the tired yet happy faces of his mother and older sister. Sothis and Serios. They happily informed him that he was the father to a beautiful little girl and he swore that his grin could rival that of the Cheshire cat. He walked in the room, and smiled at his wife who was holding their daughter in her arms, cooing softly to the newborn babe as her smile lit up the room. She looked over when she heard Cichol’s heavy steps enter the room, and her smile widened. She beckoned him over with the slight tilt of her head, and he didn’t need to be told twice before he practically ran over to her.
He kissed her on her sweaty forehead, and brushed some of the drenched hair back from her face. They both looked down at the small bundle that was asleep in her mother’s arms. She had a small mop of green hair, hair the same color of her father’s. But her facial features were all Lamora. From the small shape of her nose and large shape of her eyes. To the facial expressions that she displayed while she slept. Cichol brought his large hand to her hair, smoothing it down as he leaned down and pressed a kiss to her tiny forehead. It was a moment of complete bliss as the small family shared this moment together.

That was the happiest day of his long life. He thought the most sorrowful thing that would ever happen to him would be the death of his wife. But no. Watching your own child get cut down right before your eyes and can do nothing about it, that takes the cake.
“Oh, Cethleann. My precious daughter. I’m so sorry,” Seteth mumbled at her non-listening, non-breathing form. He pressed a kiss to her forehead before a single tear escaped his dark green eyes. He had to close his eyes shut as he threatened to fall. “I’m so sorry. Go on and live with your mother away from this war torn country. I want you away from all of it. Just know,” He leaned down to her ear as he whispered in her ear like he did as she was fleeing from this world. “That daddy will always love you. And that he will stop at nothing to get at the fools who took you from this world.”
Seteth choked on a cry as he let his hand go underneath her head and brought it up to his lips as he pressed one final kiss onto her hair. “Daddy loves you. He loves his sweet little flower.”
