the heat in satellite city wasn’t something that came by often. it was rare and elusive, like a stray black cat slinking through an alleyway. but, much like the alley cat, would place a paw under a motion-sensor light and be seen.
y/n was going about their day, just as usual. it was fine; starting off the morning with sim coffee and whatever was in the fridge. the smoggy sky was a mangled purple-green, meaning pesticides in the air.
soon enough the chilly morning weather was pushed aside and the heat began. by early afternoon y/n had discarded their normal zip up jacket, resting in silk pyjama bottoms and a tank top.
they only really noticed the heat when it was time to sleep.
the bed they shared with stefan was small and cramped; barely even a bed– definitely more like a cot or something. which would normally be fine, the couple piling atop each other to soak up delightful warmth.
but not today. the cat’s paw had touched the motion-sensor. it was hot in satellite city.
“babe, c’mon, scoot.”
“it’s not that hot y/n, just-” they cut him off.
“don’t play with me, bashkir. i’m sweaty and tired and am not in the mood to cuddle.”
stefan looked at them with puppy eyes, the darling icy blue doing nothing to the trained y/n.
“at least a good night kiss?” he begged.
y/n sighed, deciding to put up a front.
“it’s too hot, babe. you run too hot, i’ll sweat.”
“are your pyjamas too heavy? just sleep nude, we’ve done it before anyways.” stefan smirked.
y/n responded with a smack on the shoulder. “we only do that after, y’know…”
“and? who says we can’t do that now either?” the slightly upturned scar on his lip made his grin all the more impish. y/n blushed.
“don’t start, stef. it’s seriously too hot for this.”
