Chapter Text
Damnit. Not sure if I can make it. I can't keep doing this to myself.
Emma was on her way back from the station. It was Friday and she wanted nothing more than to go home and relax. Of course it couldn't be that easy.
Emma had worked through the entire day without a break; she had skipped lunch and, unfortunately, several bathroom breaks. She squeezed her legs together as tightly as possible, praying that she would make it home before the dam burst. It was going to be a very close call.
Regina's gonna be so disappointed. Hold it in Swan.
She had reminded Emma to take better care of herself on countless occasions and this incident would certainly not go over well. Emma raced home, the bug speeding through the streets as fast as its engine would allow. Using one hand to hold herself, she felt a small spurt escape her.
Emma finally reached the mansion, threw the car door open and shut, and sprinted through the front doors. She sat as quickly as possible, barely making it to the restroom. Emma looked down to see that she has wet herself badly enough for it to be noticeable. With a sigh, she cleaned up and waited for Regina to return.
Just fifteen minutes later, Regina walked through the front door and rounded the corner to the foyer.
"Emma, I'm home early, how was- oh dear..." she paused. Stopping in front of the couch she noticed the melancholy look Emma sported, "I think I can figure out what happened today, hmm darling?" Emma always wore the same pout on these kinds of days. Regina knelt in front of her, gently taking Emma's face in her hands.
"I tried, I really did! I just got really busy with the end of quarter finance reports and then Dad asked me to run an errand for him and..."
"Hey hey hey, it's okay, I know it was just an accident. That being said, do you remember the conversation we had the last time this happened?" Emma nodded in response. "Can you use your words and tell me what our deal was?" Regina patiently waited. She understood that this was not a pleasant conversation for the adorable blonde sitting in front of her.
Peeking up through her lashes at her wife, Emma quietly stated, "...We said that I was gonna have to use protection," she paused, now on the verge of tears, "but I didn't wanna make you mad at me. I tried real hard I promise, please don't make me wear them!" Emma began crying softly as Regina shifted to the couch.
She held Emma for a moment before speaking. "I am not upset, darling. I understand that you are feeling embarrassed right now but I have to insist that we look into buying some pull-ups for you."
"I'm not a baby!" Emma protested.
"You are not a baby and I do not mean to make you feel as such. However, this is non-negotiable. I am not trying to punish you but I'm worried that you're not taking care of yourself.
"I know that you have a tendency to get caught up in your work and I don't see that changing anytime soon. This is not your first accident and as much as you may deny it, you need pull-ups or some kind of protection to prevent a worse incident in the future." Regina rubbed Emma's back, rocking them gently side-to-side. "How would you feel if you wet yourself at work? Wouldn't it be better to be safe than sorry?"
Emma sniffled. "Yeah, you're right, I just don't want anyone to know."
Regina considered her words carefully. "No one needs to know. If anyone finds out they'll have to answer to me before even thinking about saying a word to you, alright? Can you promise to give it a chance, for me? If you really hate them we will come up with a better solution."
Emma began nibbling on the side of her index finger. "Okay. I'll try them, but you gotta promise me something too."
"Oh? And what would that be my darling swan?"
"You gotta promise to cuddle me extra hard tonight." Emma often became more physically needy when she was distressed, something that Regina found to be incredibly endearing.
Regina took note of her light, almost child-like tone and responded in kind, "I think your request can be accommodated. Why don't we take a short nap and then spend a cozy night in?"
"Blanket too?" Emma was never too far from the familiar crochet lovey.
"Of course, darling." Emma eagerly agreed and reached to be picked up. Regina happily obliged as Emma wrapped her arms and legs around her. She carried her beloved swan up the stairs and into their room; a small respite from Emma's tough day.

Regina woke up just an hour later, Emma clinging sweetly to her side, her mouth open in a slight pout. Her chest rose and fell in an even rhythm as Regina simply watched her adorable partner in her most relaxed state. All of a sudden, Regina noticed a cold feeling from the sheets.
Not for the first time in their relationship, Emma had wet the bed. It tended to happen when she was under emotional stress and, considering their decision earlier on, Regina prepared herself for another hard conversation.
"Emma, can you wake up for me darling? Let's have a little chat." She slowly roused from her slumber and quickly realized her wet state.
"C'mon, again? Really? What's wrong with me?!" Emma sobbed as Regina took her into her arms.
"Nothing is wrong with you, you are simply under a bit of pressure. Everything will be okay, I promise." Regina held her wife for a moment more before leading them both to the shower. "Let's get you cleaned up, shall we?" Emma simply shrugged in response, letting Regina take the lead, tears running down her cheeks. Neither woman spoke as Regina dressed Emma in her old college sweatshirt and Emma's sleep shorts.
"I'm sorry." Emma mumbled out. She didn't have the energy to say much more.
"You don't need to be sorry darling. This is out of your control and certainly nothing to be ashamed of. I'm right here, if you want to talk or you just need me to listen." Regina leant down and kissed Emma gently.
"I love you so much. What did I do to deserve you?"
"I was thinking the same thing." The couple climbed back into bed and settled in, knowing they would handle any coming challenges together.
