Work Text:
There was a colossal opening in the darkened sky, as if Rex Lapis himself had penetrated the heavens with his bare claws. Stars of every climate painted the black, illuminating each inch with shades of amaranthine and blue-violet. The moon floated forefront of the galaxy, pierced through by sunlight, of which flooded not only the heavens themselves, but as well as the planet ruled by higher powers.
Air was damp around the cryo bow user, nearly enough so that she could freeze it with a single blink. A hand lay delicate across the other, placed gently atop the stone carved railing that the moons borrowed light currently favored—overlooking the harbor, a vast and usually clear ocean turned murky with dusk. Ganyu waited patiently enough for her partner, during which her internal clock clicked slower than normal. The nervousness of worry for a perfect meeting no longer held her in it’s grip as still it did with work: as a flawless meeting with the one she loved was inevitable no matter the outcome, nor the circumstances that led to it.
Nights were most beautiful when the entrance to this world was visible. They were cool, pristine, and most importantly calm. The entrance was just as much an exit, and no being was confined within their minuscule nebula any longer. A similar situation, Ganyu was no longer interned by her duties as general secretary of the Liyue Qixing—even if only for the remainder of the hush of night.
“Good evening.” The previously damp air was seared by their presence alone, bringing lavender eyes—which were hued into gold—to draw away from the painting-like sky; met with others of which she could stare into for another thousand years, not with batting a lash. They had taken the spotlight from the moment they neared Ganyu, a clear path from the edge of Celestia straight onto their own worthy visage.
“Evening,” came her reply as her left hand slipped away from her right. They stepped to stand at her side, a smile that could reach across worlds as their second greeting to her; as well as a gentle, velvet-like kiss to the direct center of her forehead as the third.
“I apologize for being late,” they whispered against her skin, wrapping a tender arm around her waist in an effort to bring her closer. Their warmth engulfed her like wildfire as she too, wrapped her arms around their midsection. Heat flowed between them like water and she lay her head on their shoulder, allowing herself to relax. She didn’t even have to look up to noticed the way the moon reflected off their skin, even acknowledging their own empyrean beauty. Hardly from looks alone, their soul could shine brighter than the sun itself, to no doubt one day bath her in its glory solely. Seldom without the reminiscences of a life no longer lived.
“Mm.” Though until that day, she’d let them shower her in sweet kisses and warm embraces for as long as she could.
