“Okay, I can do this,” Pajaro says, approaching his door and reaching for the cold, silver handle. He turns it to the right, hesitating as he slowly lets in the setting sun.
Pajaro just finished a very important conversation with a few of his closest friends. He walks out of the meeting room in his house and stares upon the farm in his front lawn. The quiet, calm farm contrasted his tense and shaking feeling. He unclenches his fists and lets out a sigh. He leads himself through the fields, gently brushing his hand on each of the long stems of wheat as he passes. He begins to relax and remember what he is going to do: get revenge on June for the last time.
Out of anger he accidentally clutches a piece of wheat off of the stem and nearly rips it from the ground. He looks down angrily at his hand and sympathetically lets go. He slowly walks away from the scene and makes his way over to the Falcon Corp building.
Walking across the stone path, he hears that all familiar ringing noise coming from the building, but he was prepared this time. He dug his claws into his skin and slammed his eyes shut as he heard the piercing noise coming from the building in a frequency only he could hear. The pain from his sharp talons creeping into his skin, making him bruise badly distracted him from the noise. The screeching only got louder and louder and his talons were digging further and further. He nearly let go until suddenly, the noise died down and he opened his eyes to notice that he was in control of himself. Finally, for once he was able to regain the grip that Falcon Corp had on him. A smile brightens up his face, but he winces at the pain in his palms which were now a red and purple color around where he put his talons. He stares down at his hands and throws them back at his sides. He makes his trek closer to the building.
Approaching the front entrance, he puts the ID card that he had on a lanyard in his pocket over the scanner as the metal doors slide open to let him in. He gives the door a blank expression, attempting to feign his mind control, and walks in. He looks upon the white walls and follows the signs above the corners to lead him to June’s office.
Here it is. The moment of truth is upon us. He places his ID card over the scanner outside of June’s office and waits for her response.
“Oh hello, my favorite little subject. I’ve been expecting you,” she says in a callous and conniving tone. He swears he can feel her smug expression through the door. “Let me just let you in now, bird brain.”
She presses a button and the door slides open. Pajaro walks into the room and sees June sitting on her desk, one leg over the other with her arm on her knee, resting her head on the palm of her hand. She did have the exact smug expression that he thought she would. He holds back the urge to grit his teeth and snarl at her. He keeps a level expression and stands in front of her desk, not speaking until spoken to.
“Do you know why I called you here,” she inquires with that crooked grin of hers.
“No ma’am,” he says bluntly.
“Well, I wanted to see about that scouting trip you took a few weeks back…”
Her words begin to dissipate from his brain as he only thinks of how he’s going to end her life. He scans the room out his peripheral vision for things he could possibly use. Then, all of a sudden he hears that signal again, the loud screeching pitch, but only for a brief moment.
“I’m sorry, I just noticed that you haven’t been paying enough attention,” June says with a sense of anger in her voice.
She lets a moment of silence linger until she suddenly stands up from her desk, slamming her hands on it and looks Pajaro straight in the eyes.
“I don’t think you understand how hard I’ve worked on this project, only for you to screw it up at the last minute.” She cocks her head to the side. “If you want to fuck me over so badly, then do it you coward.”
Pajaro snaps his hand forward and rings her neck with his hand, his talons piercing the back of her neck. She begins to wheeze and lose air. “I don’t know what you take me for, but I won’t be dealing with your bullshit anymore,” Pajaro pulls her face closer to his beak, “You and your manical fucking company has caused enough tyrrany to last a decade. There is nothing any of you can do to repay that, so I will do it myself.”
He lets go of her neck as she collapses onto the top of her desk, knocking over stacks of paper and pens. She lifts herself up and puts her hand around her neck, attempting to breathe again.
June smiles and begins to laugh out, “You really are a pathetic little-”
Pajaro slams his fist into her face. June’s head is now looking over to her right from the blow. She moves her hand from her neck and covers the area where he hit her. She slowly turns her head over to look him in the face.
“Oh, I see how it is now. You broke free from the control of the signal.” She looks at him with an eerily crooked smirk, “You know, I missed it when we would tie you down to that table and make you listen to that sound for hours until you decided to obey.”
Pajaro clenches his fist again and looks her dead in the eyes, his blood boiling with hatred for her. The room began to fill with silence.
“Aw, got nothing to say? Well, I suppose we will just have to strap you down to that table and redo the process all over again, that’s really all I called you in for.”
Pajaro gets a fearful look in his eyes and looks away from June. He hears a slight high pitched noise and looks around frantically. He begins to lose consciousness and fights it as best as he can, clenching his clammy hands and putting them over his ears. June laughs at him, mockingly. She makes her way to the other side of the desk and gets close to Pajaro’s face.
“What’s the matter,” she purrs, “can’t handle a little noise? Aww you poor thing.”
Pajaro sharply backs away from her, knocking the chair behind him. He shoves her into the desk . She gets up to give him a blow in his stomach. They begin to struggle. Pajaro claws June in the face, giving her a wide gash across her cheek. June regains her balance after being cut and reaches for a briefcase laid beside her desk. Pajaro notices and shoves her out of the way to grab it and hits her over the head with it. June is knocked into the ground and nearly unconscious. Her coat and Pajaro’s hand are both covered in blood from the fight. June struggles to sit up.
“Hah you really-”
Pajaro kicks her side, knocking the wind out of her breath. He crouches next to her.
“No more talking.”
The last thing Pajaro remembers is hearing that screeching noise before passing out and waking up at his house once again.
