Work Text:

Flyboys are a decicred a dozen. Why can't Luke get this one out of his head?

Leia is too good for Han. She deserves better than a slick-talking con artist. A slick-talking con artist with beautiful eyes, that is. Who is he kidding? Luke only wants Leia out of the picture so he can kiss those lips, feel that skin between his…

Whoa, get ahold of yourself, Master Jedi, he thinks. The Jedi of old frowned upon romantic attachment. But then, many disobeyed that commandment—his father and Obi-Wan among them. There is also the curious case of young Jacen Syndulla, who he suspects is the son of General Syndulla's late partner Kanan Jarrus, a Jedi Knight.

But wait… maybe children are the problem! It's not like a union between Luke and Han would result in any younglings.

No, that isn't right either.

Luke knows, intellectually, that it's about the attachment. The possessiveness that comes with a romantic entanglement is an easy way to fall into darkness—as his father had.

But that doesn't stop him from wanting Han.

But Leia loves Han so much.

But Han would never be the type to settle down. He's impulsive and not the most dependable. Leia needs someone more stable.

But Luke has a commitment greater than himself.

At least he keeps Han's eyes in his life.
