Work Text:

Steve beamed as he sorted through his mail and found a handwritten letter. Here, in the middle of everything, was a card from Bucky. His boyfriend was visiting some family out of state, and it was in a very rural area, so he didn’t have enough reception to make stable calls. Instead, he had sent a nice postcard to Steve, with pink flowers on it. When Steve opened the card, a few petals fell from it, making him smile. The easy smile stayed until Sam got back and found him looking outside. His best friend peeked over his shoulder and checked the enveloppe.

“You really are whipped, man. How you managed to find someone as old fashioned as you, I have no idea,” he said after putting the letter down.

“He doesn’t have reception.”

“And?”

“He wanted to keep contact.”

“Come on, it can’t be that long.”

“Well…”

“Steve?”

“A week and a half”, he mumbled.

“A week and a half?” shouted Sam, incredulous.

“Yes?”

“You’re telling me you’ve been moping around, sighing all day and behaving like the stereotypical teenage girl because you’re not able to see Barnes for a week and a half ?”

Steve shrugged; denying would just be insulting to Sam.

“You are whipped. I can’t believe you. A week and a half is not that long.”

It is when you’re used to talking almost everyday though. But he wouldn’t say that to Sam, his best friend already had too much on them. Seeming to realise Steve wouldn’t talk more, the man shook his head, smile on his face, before patting Steve’s shoulder. He then walked to his room, leaving Steve at his desk, pinning over his boyfriend who was far away.
