Work Text:
I had all…
Do you remember when we went on dates every Friday?
“ y/n hurry up we’re going to be late” Armin whined, watching as you put on your favorite lipgloss in front of the mirror. You smiled back at him. There were still 30 minutes before the movie started.
Do you remember when you said you loved me?
The sun was setting, hues of pinks, oranges, and reds painting the sky. You were walking home from a nearby cafe. It took you by surprise. Really. “I love you,” he said. And suddenly it felt as if nothing would ever break you guys apart.
Do you remember when I thought we were soulmates?
He always looked so peaceful asleep. Maybe it was weird to watch him as he slept, but you couldn’t help it. Everything he did would make your heart flutter. You were so in love with him. And when he opened his eyes, you knew he loved you too.
And then most of you...
Do you remember when we decided we would walk everywhere?
It was raining outside. You were walking by yourself, drenched. It was okay though because he was waiting at home for you. Hopefully.
Do you remember when we would read all night?
“Didn’t we finish that one last night?” he asked as you pulled the book from the shelf. You sat down on the bed beside him and opened to the first page. “This one is my favorite.” you would say. And it was.
Do you remember when you started working late?
You missed him.
I missed you real bad
Some…
Do you remember when I got rid of all our books?
He didn’t say anything when he came home. Almost as if he didn’t notice the empty shelves. “Welcome home, baby.” you welcomed him, every day. He would smile at you. He gave you a brief kiss on the lips. You wondered if he even cared.
Do you remember when you didn’t come home one night?
You hadn’t gone to sleep that night. And he hadn’t come home that night. No texts. No calls. No Armin.
And damn did I wish you did
And now none of you...
I remember when I caught you two together.
The weather was so pleasant that day. You decided to walk to the cafe a few streets away. They sold the best pastries there you thought. But he was there. And he was with someone else. Suddenly you weren’t so hungry anymore.
Do you remember when we broke up?
It was almost like you knew it wouldn’t work out. Or maybe that’s just what you wanted to believe. He walked out the door like he didn’t care. Because he didn’t.
Do you remember?
The nights he would hold you close.
Do you remember?
When he said he loved you.
Do you remember the night we met?
And god you wished you never did.
