Click. Click. Click.
“And you say you have never experienced these symptoms before?“ Ludwig stared at the subject ahead of him, his thoughts showing through the quick clicks of his pen.
“Yeah! Look, not every day you turn into some monster and destroy an entire-“
The subject was cut off by the doctor putting a hand up with a sigh, “ That is enough for now. You may go back to your domicile. “
The subject gives a snarl and stomps out of the interview room, much to the displeasure of the guard watching over them. Ludwig stood, flipping through papers in his clipboard. He grit his teeth and slammed it down on the table with a hiss. “Fess..”
“Dr. Ludwig I really think you should tend to the already wounded, that is what we-”
“Yes yes, what you have worked so hard to get me for. However, your people have insisted I attempt to understand what you keep here.”
Ludwig pauses, a smirk gracing his face for a matter of seconds. He planted a gloved hand on his face and dragged it down.
“I would be happy to, usually, but with what little you have offered to me, both time and supplies..”
“er, I understand. We should head to the medbay now. Another doctor was swallowed alive by a subject and needs you.”
Ludwig took a moment to face them, a scowl burnt deep into his expression. Point proven. He turned and walked out of the room, pushing his glasses up his nose.
The doctor barely got 2 feet out of the room when he stopped dead in his tracks, eyes catching a familiar face. “ . . . I will meet you in the medbay. “ He spoke to the guard, eyes not leaving the barred doors to an almost empty cell.
Before the guard could protest, Ludwig was already striding off towards his goal.
Ludwig shooed the other doctors away from the cell door, grinning at his old friend.
“Yeah, I don’t- Med- Medic?! Why’re-”
“Herr Mundy! You were the last person I expected to show up here, considering your.. Mostly normalcy!”
“Hold on, mate. Why are you here?” Mundy grabbed the bars of the door window as he spoke.
“Well, is it not obvious? I still need funding to work, even after our past incident!” Ludwig grinned as he spoke, just like last time. It made the sniper grimace at the thought.
“Right… Do you think you could… Let me go?”
“Oh! Ha! No. Not personally.” Ludwig shook his head with a laugh, speaking before the sniper could say anything.
“I am just a contractor, I do not have the authority. However, I will speak to the others on it.”
“. . . Right. Thank you. “ Mundy sighed, letting go of the bars and walking back to his cot.
It wasn't the most uncomfortable thing he had lied on in his lifetime, if anything, it was an improvement compared to most. Something ached in his body, maybe the silence of the cell compared to the screeching busyness in the lab outside…
