Work Text:
The all too familiar red walls of his room burned into his eyes.
Those walls would've looked stylish, but to him they were like a prison.
Xingqiu was lonely, bored, and just overall tired of the bullshit going on his household.
During the hours of the evening, the young boy wasn't allowed out of the house unless permission was granted or it was a special occasion.
It was sadly neither on this dreary day. The moonlight shun through his open window, as if taunting him.
It'd be a perfect night to go out with one of his friends, and so he did have plans to sneak out underneath his family's noses. Having a poem sharing session with Hu Tao sounded better than spending another second in this hell of a household.
However, he wasn't particularly careful this night, Xingqiu thought only his brother was home goddamn it!
His older brother was probably the only one he has trust for in his family, in the guild as a whole.
He was a lot more lenient and layed back than most, albeit somewhat annoying with lectures...but the trust and love the two had for eachother was still there.
...his father was a whole other story, and unfortunately he was caught by him.
After 2 hours of lecturing and listing out punishments, Xingqiu was released and quickly rushed to his room, hiding himself under a pillow, weeps of sorrow softly echoing throughout his room.
Pitiful, he thought. The second son of the Feiyun Commerce Guild, crying over his oh-so hard family life.
What kind of god would pity him for that?
Chongyun had always suggested telling his family about how he feels, but he could never.
Xingqiu was not strong like Chongyun, no, he was a weak coward who couldn't utter a sentence of even one complaint for his life.
He wanted oh-so badly to leave, to ve on his own...but as a 17 year old without a penny to his name without his family's help, how could he find a place to stay?
All his friends couldn't let him move in due to payment or space issues, and Xingqiu knew no one selling an apartment would take pity on him either. He was the second son of a famous guild, he could have his family take care of it.
If he were to say why they couldn't, he probably be banned from the establishment all together, he'd his, keep in mind famous family, who would want a disgrace of a teenager like that.
One of the families many cats plopped onto Xingqiu's bed next to him. Aqua was her name, and she was especially friendly towards Xingqiu.
"You are the only one who understands how I feel, my friend," he'd mumble out, gently petting her head, in which she mowed in response.
The boy looked outside the open window, to where night had officially begun. He walked over to the window and sat down, his feet dangled over the ledge, gently swaying.
The cat climbed onto his knees and placed herself into his lap, into where she'd gently purr herself to sleep.
Xingqiu smiled sadly, even if Aqua could offer warmth and comfort, she could not get rid of the overbearing loneliness that made his heart ache.
He looked up at the moon, a frown soon graced his face as his emotional state began to worsen.
"You are lonely too, are you not?" He spoke to it, as if it were a real person.
So when his eyes glittered with tears, still looking up at the round, shining planet, it glittered back.
But it could not stop the weeps and cries of the boy, as he begged over and over to be free.
But the moon could not hear, the gods could not hear,
no one could hear the boy who was stuck in his room.
