Chapter Text
Sam the big white horse had been friends with will the slightly shorter brown horse for a long time, everyday greeting each other with a big smile. Will was starting to think that there was something more between them. So one night, he crept into the stable that belonged to Sam and poked his head in, “Sam?” Will called softly.
Sam lifted his head and looked up at the horse that stood at his door.
“Yes Will?”
Will stepped closer to the white horse, lifting his hoof he stroke Sam’s mare lovingly.
“What are you doing?”, Sam stuttered, gazing into will’s eyes. He noticed the golden shimmers in his eyes for the first time.
“I ‘ave something important to tell you.” he whispered quickly.
“What?” Sam whispered back, inching closer.
“I... love..... chocolate cake.” Will said urgently, reaching behind Sam. Will grabbed a left over piece of cake.
Sam glared at Will “Will you realise that that isn’t chocolate cake? It’s cheesecake, you hate cheesecake.” Sam said in concern.
Will put the cake down, “Right,” he mumbled. “Of course.”
“Is there something wrong Will?” Sam asked gently.
“No!” Will snapped and bolted away, leaving Sam shocked.
-THE NEXT DAY-
At breakfast all the animals were gathered around the table, Will searched the sea of faces, trying to identify one as Sam, but he was nowhere. Will sighed, feeling a paw tap his shoulder. He turned around, Sam?
“Hi Will!”
No.
“Rose,” Will muttered staring at the big ginger cat, “What do you want?”
“Have you seen Sam or Albert?” She purred kindly. Will shook his head slowly
“Why Albert?” He asked
“Well, you know, they have been getting really close lately, couldn’t you tell?” Rose meowed licking her paw, tail flicking.
“No,” Will said, a little hurt. “No I didn’t know.”
“Oh,” Rose meowed “Sorry. I know you like Sam, I shouldn’t have said it like that.”
“It’s fine,” Will mumbled. “If you see Sam..” he paused, Rose waited for a reply.
“Tell him I want to talk to him,” Will stood up and slowly walked back to his stall.
Will looked in to see a note.
To William,
I have gone to visit Alberts family on a nearby farm,
I will be back soon.
Best wishes
- Sam
Will looked down at the note. Albert, what’s so good about Albert? He thought sourly. It’s fine, Albert is just another goat right, and when Sam comes back everything will be back to normal.
Will shook the thoughts from his head. Sam meant a lot to him, and what Sam has said the night before kept him thinking, maybe something else was going on?
-A FEW DAYS LATER-
“So? Is it official?” Will heard roses loud purr from a nearby stall.
“I got the gossip last night from a raven!” The sound of Sean’s , alberts best friend, voice said happily.
There was a slight pause.
“Don’t tell will, you know he really likes Sam, he’ll we very upset.” Rose hissed.
“I thought you hated will?” Sean questioned
“I do, but he’s Sam’s best friend who is dating Albert, albert is my cousin (don’t question).” Rose snapped, quieting Sean.
There were the sound of claws tapping on the wood floor and Rose was gone.
Will wasn’t sure what he had heard but it was something to do with Albert and Sam.
Alberts gonna pay for this, Sam is mine.
PART TWO
Will sat alone, he had made it to breakfast early.
“What are youuu doing here?” A snarky voice came from across the table.
“Am I not allowed to wake up early?” Will snapped back, looking up at the white mare with red ribbons laces through her mane.
“Ugh! You’ve ruined it!” She hissed storming off.
“What the hell,” Will mumbled looking around at the empty room. He noticed a piece of paper had fallen from Polly’s bag, he decided to take a look.
ITS OFFICIAL!
ALBERT AND SAM ARE DATING!
- Sean and Rose.
Will cursed under his breath, stomping a hoof down on the floor making the table shake. “That snake!” He cried “How dare he!”
And with that, Will was gone, racing into the paddocks, the eyes of all the other animals watched will go.
“Where’s he off to?” Sean asked rose.
“I don-Oh no.” Rose meowed digging her claws into the dirt.
“What is it?”
“Will must have found out,”
“Oh, so what? He was going to find out at some point, someone had to tell him.” Sean shrugged it off and continued walking ahead of Rose.
Rose hissed and padded after Sean, not looking back to check if Will was ok. She didn’t like him anyway. Why did she care so much?
Will was running at full speed but something made him stop dead in his tracks.
It was Sam and Albert.
Albert looked up into Sam’s eyes longingly and Sam looked down at Albert.
They stood close to each other, Sam leaning down and touching alberts nose with his.
Will watched from the top of the hill. His heart, already broken, shattered.
Will took a step forward, rustling the autumn leaves, drawing attention.
Sam suddenly looked up, eyes wide. Will stared for a moment, all was silent.
“Will” Sam said softly looking up at his friend. Albert looked up at the white horse then at the brown horse that stood silently on the hill.
Suddenly will turned and started running back towards the farm.
Will was stopped by Sean, standing in front of him, though shorter he definitely looked stronger and more fierce. (Yes it’s possible for a small goat to do this)
Will looked around to see rose and Polly watching from the Dining hall door.
“So you found out did you will?” Sean teased approaching Will.
“I-I did.” Will muttered looking around as he backed into a tree.
“I always knew Sam didn’t like you,” Sean pressured.
Will tried to look for an escape,
“I-I...” Will stuttered
“You what? Thought he actually liked you? Ha!” Sean laughed
“Sean,” Rose started but polly stoped her
“No.” She said. “This is fun to watch.”
Sean got closer to Will
“He Never loved you.”
The words pierced through will and made his face turn cold.
The large goat stood for a while, watching will’s expression change, before walking away to rose and Polly.
Will stood in front of the tree, all the other animals around stared at him, silence.
Will stood up and slowly walked back to his stall, laying down on the hay. He held back tears as he knew Sean would hear.
-MEANWHILE-
Sam looked down at Albert.
“You should go to him,” Albert said softly.
Sam looked back at where Will was once standing.
“But you-..” Sam started. Albert shook his head.
“He’s clearly upset.” Albert said.
“But Albert, what about us? All that we have been through, dolphin told me..” Sam trailed off. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to mention her,” Sam whispered.
“It’s ok, she’s gone now. Now go Sam, will needs to understand.” Albert encouraged.
“But he won’t.” Sam said shaking his head.
“Trust me,” Albert said looking into Sam’s eyes, “you two are good friends, he will understand.”
With that Albert and Sam parted ways, Sam looking back every so often to look at Albert who was standing still, in the same spot.
Sam wandered back to the farm, eyes burned through him as he walked to wills stall, he poked his head in too see the brown horse wiping tears from his eyes.
“Go away,” Will spat harshly.
“But will, I wanted to talk.” Sam said softly.
“Go ahead then, tell me how you don’t want to be friends anymore,” Will said “now that your to busy with Albert.”
Sam felt attacked but continued. “No! That’s not at all what’s going on!” He said “I would never not want to be your friend. Where did you get that idea from?”
Will’s eyes met Sam’s.
They stared at each other for a while.
“Sean said,” Will mumbled.
“Thats bastard,” Sam hissed “He has no right to treat my friend like that.”
“I’m sorry,’ Will said softly, Sam shook his head.
“I’m the one that should be sorry, Will. Not you. I should’ve been a better friend.” Sam said.
“Friends?”
“Always.”
Part three.
It has been a few weeks now. Sam and Albert were still together and Sam and Will were better friends than ever.
Will however still felt jealous of Sam and Alberts relationship. They have been through lots, they belong together. Will thought. And he was right.
But will couldn’t help but still feel jealous when he saw Sam and Albert together.
“Will?” A small voice said and Will snapped back into reality and looked down at the brown goat.
“Hi Albert.” Will scowled. He had began to take his anger secretly out on albert ever since the first time he saw them together.
“Me and Sam where going to go have lunch together,” Albert started but was cut of by Will.
“And you wanted to invite me?” Will said angrily “what? To watch you two kiss each other for half an hour. To make me jealous?”
Albert shook his head.
“No! What’s wrong with you!” Albert hissed “Polly, rose and Sean are coming too you idiot!”
“Even better,” Will muttered.
“So? Are you coming?” Albert asked hesitantly.
Will shrugged “sure, why not.” He said rolling his eyes.
“Great, we’ll pick you up at 12.” Albert said before trotting off to find Sam.
-AT 12-
It was 12 o’clock and Will was waiting patiently for Sam and albert to come get him.
“Will?” He heard Sam’s voice call. Will stood up quickly and poked his head out of the door. He saw Polly and rose and Sean standing with Sam and Albert. Great. Will thought as he stared at Sean who was glaring at him evilly.
“Will!” Sam said going up to his friend “Albert found this great new place to have lunch at! I’m so glad you are coming!”
Will nodded slowly “yeah, it might be fun.” He said glancing over at Sean and the others.
“Oh come on will! Ignore them! It wasn’t my idea to bring them, Albert wanted to bring Sean and Sean wanted to bring the others.” He whispered the last part in annoyance.
Will smiled a little.
“You guys coming?” Albert called out.
“Yeah we’re coming!” Sam replied.
Sam and will ran after the others.
The group had reached a nice cafe, and they all sat down at a big table. Albert and Sam sat together. Sean sat at one end and will sat at the other. Rose and Polly sat across from Albert and Sam whispering to each other.
“So scorpion king,” Rose started talking to Sam, much to will’s confusion. “How are you going?”
“Rose,” Sam said cautiously. “Stop calling me that.”
Will looked at the others at the table in confusion, Sean had the same confused expression.
Sam turned to Will “it’s an inside joke, I will tell you later.” He explained to which will nodded slowly in agreement.
Rose groaned, “isn’t this awkward.” She muttered.
A waiter came over and handed them some menus. “Welcome to the cafe, call out when you are ready!” The waiter said in an overly happy cheerful voice.
“Those kinds of people piss me off,” Sean muttered as he watched the waiter go.
“Anyway, thanks guys for coming.” Albert said happily, leaning against Sam’s shoulder.
“Thanks guys.” Sam said smiling.
Will sat silently, the others had way more to talk about.
After they finished their food Sam looked over at Will who had barley eaten and was staring at his plate.
“Are you ok will?” Sam asked quietly.
Will looked up. “I’m fine, I’m not that hungry.”
Sam stared at Will for a while before being interrupted by Albert who was telling the others about their trip to his farm.
Will was once again pushed into the shadows.
Will decided to go home. He stood up and pushed his chair in, no one even noticed.
Except rose who was about to say something but will silenced her by shaking his head. Rose nodded sadly, feeling bad for Will as she watching him leave.
A few hours of sitting alone in his stall, Will had time to think about his friendship with Sam. It was good for a while but it was clear to him that he had better friends than himself.
By the time albert and Sam came back, will was nearly half asleep. Sam poked his head into will’s stall.
“Go away sam, you aren’t wanted here.” Will said gruffly.
“Will, I’m sorry, I wanted to talk.” Sam begged
“No you don’t, you don’t want to talk to me you just want to make me feel better.” Will hissed.
“Will-..” Sam Started
“No, just leave me alone and go have fun with your new boyfriend.” Will said, a slight sob in his voice.
Sam stared at Will for awhile, it was clear Will was trying not to cry.
“I’m sorry will, I really am.” Sam said softly.
“You’re no-..” Will started
“I am.” Sam snapped “I truely am, and if you can’t take an apology then so be it. Maybe I actually wanted to still be your friend but looks like you won’t even let me.”
Will looked up at Sam but he was gone.
What did I do?
Will thought suddenly hating himself for what he had done.
He’s never going to like you ever again.
PART FOUR
Sam noticed that Will hadn’t come to any meal times since he had talked to him. He grew very concerned but Albert told him that Will wasn’t worth the time.
Sam wasn’t sure about that but trusted his boyfriend with all his heart.
You have been friends for less than a year. You and Albert have done everything together for nearly 5 years.
Sam thought.
5 y e a r s.
Sam remembered the promise him and will had made.
A l w a y s.
It was the same promise he had made to Albert a year prior.
Sam shook the thoughts from his head as he saw Albert approaching him. He stood up and walked closer to Albert.
“You ok?” Albert whispered into Sam’s ear as the brushed together“.
Sam parted from Albert he shook his head.
“Is it will again?” Albert asked “if you were really worried wouldn’t you go see him?”
Sam nodded. “I don’t know what to say?” He said
“I’d figure that out soon, Will isn’t going to be here forever.”
With that Albert was gone, his words messing with Sam’s head.
Sam decided to just go for it, to talk to Will.
He slowly walked into stalls but stopped as he heard familiar voices.
“I’m sorry will,” the familiar purr of rose echoed off the walls.
“Don’t be.” The voice of Will said softly.
“I should’ve seen it sooner.” Rose said gently.
“At least you care,” Will said sourly.
“Will,” Rose started
“He obviously hates me. I’m an idiot for trusting him.”
“Will,”
“No, he probably wants me dead. I’m just a jealous wreck.”
No. Is that how he thinks of me?
Sam turned to leave, not wanting to hear the conversation, but something stoped him.
“You really like him, don’t you?” Rose asked
“I used to,”
“Truth,”
“That is the truth. I ruined it.”
Sam winced as he listened.
“Then stop worrying about him. He’s fine, if he cared he would have come to talk.”
“No I should have been the one to talk, I’m the one who was selfish.”
“Eat,” Rose instructed
There was the sound of shuffling then silence.
“Will, you haven’t eaten in days. Stop torturing yourself.” Rose continued.
There was silence against and then the sound of crunching.
“Thanks.” Wills voice broke the silence again.
“I’m sorry.” Rose said softly
“For what? You’ve been very kind, what would you be sorry for?”
“For hating you, I shouldn’t have judged you based on what Polly and Sean were telling me.” Rose said
“It’s not your fault. They are both very convincing.” Will said
“They’re both jerks.” Rose laughed a little, Will joined in too.
“You should go, dinner is soon.” Will sighed
“You have to come.”
“I just ate, I will be fine.”
“Then I expect to see you at breakfast.” Rose instructed.
“Agreed,”
There was silence and Sam slipped outside and walked a little away. If will or Rose knew he was eavesdropping he would be dead.
He watched rose sneak out of the stables and jump onto the fence disappearing behind the dinning hall.
-THE NEXT MORNING-
The sun was shining and all the animals were heading towards the dining hall for breakfast. Sam watched from a distance as Will walked in with rose.
“Hey Sam, you alright?” Alberts voice said from behind Sam.
Sam nodded slowly not taking his eyes of Rose and Will.
Albert followed Sam’s eyes to rose and will.
“You talked to him yet?” Albert asked.
Sam shook his head, “no. But I heard a lot.”
“Oh.” Albert mumbled looking down.
“Come, we should go sit down before all the seats are taken.” Albert suggested.
Sam nodded and the two walked to the furthest away seats from rose and will.
The two didn’t talk to each other. They are in silence, watching rose and will chat and laugh together.
Albert finally spoke. “I’m so sorry Sam,” he whispered into his boyfriends ear, leaning his head against Sam.
Sam stayed silent watching his cousin and friend bond with each other. “At least he is happy without me.” Sam noticed.
“Sam!” Albert said “don’t say things like that!”
“But it’s true, isn’t it?”
“Sam.”
“Don’t lie Albert, I’m the one who’s good at lying remember?”
“Good point.”
“Albert?”
“I’m so sorry Sam.” Was all Albert said before digging his head into Sam’s shoulder, trying not to sob.
“I wish we could still go back in time,” Sam said choking back a sob.
“We can’t, you know what happened last time, I’m sorry Sam.”
“I know, it’s fine.”
The two sat together. The other animals leaving the dining hall. Leaving the two alone.
Albert and Sam sat together in the silent hall. Staring down the leg and empty table. All the dishes had been done and everyone had left.
The two lovers had been sitting there for a while, no one seemed worried about them, they just let them be.
“Albert?” Sam said softly, his voice echoing around the room.
“Yes sam?” Albert replied looking up into Sam’s eyes.
“I’m so glad we are all ok, that everything is back to normal.” Sam looked down at Albert.
“Yeah.” Albert sighed “and Will seems happy enough with Rose, maybe you should leave him in the past, start over.”
Sam nodded slowly. “Maybe your right albert.” He said quietly.
“We have been through so much together, I’m just glad we are still alive.” Albert said.
“Me too.” Sam said
The two embraced in a long hug, that seemed to last for hours. The two didn’t want to let each other go. Sam was the one to let go first, pulling back and looking into Alberts eyes.
“I love you albert.” Sam Said
“I love you too Sam.” Albert replied
“Always.”
PART FIVE
Will and rose had become good friends, and Rose had drifted away from Sean and Polly ( much to their despair).
Albert and Sam were never seen apart, sam was still guttered about Will.
“I think we should try to make friends with Will again.” Sam said one morning after breakfast.
“If you think he will accept the apology. Be prepared to be hurt though.” Albert said. “Just in case.”
“Well He is friends with your cousin.” Sam mumbled
“I know I know,” Albert said “I just don’t want you to be more hurt than you already are.”
The two looked over to rose and will who were talking and sitting under a tree together.
They seem to be enjoying themselves. Making jokes and laughing at each other.
“At least he has someone to go to if you leave.” Albert said.
“Right.” Sam muttered.
“You should talk to him. I could distract Rose.” Albert offered kindly.
“Fine.” Sam agreed. “But don’t make it too obvious.”
Albert nodded getting up and going over to rose and will
“Hey cousin!” Albert said to rose. “We haven’t talked in a while.”
Rose hissed “what do you want Albert?”
“Geez,” Albert said “just wanted to talk.”
“Alright then, spit it out?”
“Not here! Alone!” Albert said stepping back a little
“Now?” Rose asked
“Yes. Now”
Albert turned to leave. Rose stood up “I’ll be back soon will.” She said before following Albert.
Sam watched the two go. He stared at Will who was sitting alone. He decided now was his chance.
“Will?” Sam asked approaching the brown horse.
“You.” Will muttered
“Look wil-..” sam started
“No, I don’t want to talk.”
“But will, please!”
“No.”
“Look, Will, I’m sorry. I was a horrible friend.”
“You sure were.”
“Will!”
“Just telling the truth,”
“Well, I’m sorry, I truely am. Please can we just start over, or at least be friends again?”
Will was silent, deep in thought.
“Give me time to think about it.”
“Fine,” sam agreed,
Will nodded at him and Sam left.
-THE NEXT MORNING-
Sam and Albert hadn’t talked all night. But they both stayed awake, neither could sleep.
When the sun finally rose, Sam turned to Albert. Sam’s eyes were sleepy and distant.
“Albert?” Sam asked softly, to Albert who was nearly asleep leaning on Sam. He looked up.
“Yes?”
“Breakfast is soon,” Sam whispered. “I just hope will accepts my apology.”
“Don’t worry,” Albert reassured his boyfriend. “You will always have me.”
Sam nodded standing up. Albert stood up as well and the two walked slowly to the dining hall. It was early and they were both expecting to be alone, but much to their surprise Will was sitting at the long table alone.
“Will?” Sam said, his voice echoing.
Will looked up from what he was fiddling with.
“Sam.” Will said a little startled. “I didn’t expect you two to be here.”
“Sorry. We didn’t expect anyone to be here either.” Sam said, smiling a little.
“You can both sit next to me if you would like.” Will offered cautiously. “I was saving it for rose but she can find somewhere else to sit.”
Sam smiled and looked down at Albert, who nodded. The two walked over to Will and sat next to him.
“I’m sorry Sam.” Will said. “I was just jealous.”
“It’s ok will. I shouldn’t have ignored you, I’m a terrible friend.” Sam admitted
They looked at each other and smiled.
“So how’s my cousin going? I’m surprised she isn’t annoying the crap out of you.” Albert joked breaking the awkward silence.
“She’s fine, really.” Will laughed. “I used to think she was really annoying until I got to know her more. Maybe you two should try.”
Sam and Albert laughed.
“Never mind actually, she hates your guts.” Will laughed
“True point” Sam and Albert both agreed.
The three of them sat together at the table alone. Sam yawned and snuggled next to Albert. The three of them talked all through breakfast and didn’t leave the hall until dinner was over.
PART SIX
-A FEW MONTHS LATER-
School was starting again soon, and the three friends hated the thought of going back to school.
Sam was a little excited but was quieted by Will and Alberts groans and complaints.
“It won’t be that bad,” Sam whined
“Yeah but schools boring.” Albert complained. Will nodded in agreement
“Well we have to go, no jumping off trains this year.” Sam instructed.
“Fineeeee.” Albert said in annoyance.
“No fair! I didn’t get to jump off!” Will said in protest making Sam and Albert laugh.
They had to leave in a day so all they did was pack and talk.
It was getting darker outside, the boys were nearly packed and very tired. They had gone to dinner and had their last dinner at home. The summer Holliday’s has been fun while they lasted.
“See you two tomorrow!” Will called out as he turned to leave to his home
“Bye!” Sam and Albert said together before parting ways themselves.
The next morning they all met with their parents at the train station. It was packed and full of kids and their parents. Will arrived a little earlier and went to his usual carriage where Sam and Albert where already seated. Albert was snuggled up next to Sam, who was reading a history book.
“Studying already Sam?” Will joked as he sat across from the two.
“Oh shut up will.” Sam huffed.
Albert put his head into Sam’s white mane.
“Someone’s tired. Didn’t you sleep last night albert?” Sam asked the tired looking goat.
“Uuuuuuuh” Albert groaned “sooo tiredddd.”
“I guess that’s a yes!” Will joked as he took out a note book.
The train was about to leave and just as they felt the train start to move there was a knock on the door. All the boys looked up and will moved to open the door. At the door a was big white husky with blue eyes and a nice smile
“Hi, sorry to bother you. I can leave if you want. Can’t find anywhere to sit.” She said hesitantly.
Albert and Sam looked at each other then at Will who shrugged.
“You can sit in here, we aren’t expecting anyone else.” Will said moving over so that she could sit.
“I’m L,” she said shyly as she sat down next to Will. “It’s my first year here.”
L was wearing a green bow in her ear and her fur was neatly cleaned and brushed.
“Not meaning to be rude,” Sam said observing L. “But you don’t look much like a first year.”
L laughed a little. “No, that’s because I’m not. I was homeschooled for most of my life. My dad finally decided to let me go here. I’m in sixth year.” She explained.
“Cool! We are in sixth year too!” Albert said happily.
“I’m will,” Will said. “That’s Sam and that’s Albert.” He continued to introduce the small friend group to L.
“It’s nice to meet you all, I was afraid no one would want to sit with me or let me in their compartment!” She laughed a little, a hint of nerves in her voice. “I have always wanted to go here. Well, I was going to come here. Bought all the books and stuff then my dad pulled me out.” She sighed
“That’s sad.” Will said flatly. “What made him change his mind?”
“I don’t know, maybe I convinced him.” L shrugged.
The four talked all the way to school, and by the time the train had stopped, they were all friends.
“We can show you around if you want?” Albert offered.
L nodded “that would be great! I hope I have classes with at least one of you.”
Sam shrugged. “You never know. I know I have most classes with Albert.”
“Cool,” She said as the four of them walked into the large school building. They were all handed their timetables and the first years were introduced.
The four friends looked over their timetables together.
“Science, maths, English, art..” L mumbled as she read her timetable.
“Anyone have maths lesson one?” Will asked
“Yes!” The other three said together. The four looked at each other before bursting into laughter that echoed through the corridor. A few other students stared at the group as the walked down the hallway to their first class.
“People are staring at us..” Will said, a little uncomfortable.
“Eh, so what.” L shrugged it off
Will’s face turned pale as he saw a familiar group of animals walking towards them.
“Oh god.” He mumbled hiding behind the others.
“You ok will?” L asked
“Shhhh!” Will shushed.
Sean, polly and Rose were walking in a group towards Sam, Albert, L and Will.
“Great.” Sam mumbled.
Albert eyed off his old friend Sean.
“Sean.” He spat as Sean and his group stopped in front if them.
“Albert, what a pleasant surprise! I see you have collected a new member to your group of losers.” Sean said glaring at Lettie.
“Who do you think you ar-.” L was cut short
“You must be new here.” Sean said.
L nodded confidently
“Good luck hanging around these idiots, they might just get you expelled.” Sean warned “you to Will.”
Will poked his head out from behind Sam “hey don’t say things like that!” He hissed
“But isn’t it true? They nearly got them selves killed last time!” Sean traded. Sam and Albert were still.
“What do you mean?” L asked in confusion. But Sean was already gone.
“Ignore him.” Albert said in Annoyance.
“What did he mean when he said you guys might get me and will expelled?”L asked
The boys looked at each other.
“I-..” Sam stuttered
“They can explain later. We will be late to class if we don’t hurry.” Will said powering on.
L gave a shrug if confusion before following will.
PART SEVEN
It had been a few days since they first arrived at school. They had unpacked and settled back into their dorm rooms. Albert and Sam and Will shared a room and L shared a room with rose and Polly.
“Don’t get sucked into Rose and Polly’s ways.” Albert warned as him L and Albert were walking to breakfast one morning.
“They aren’t that bad,” L said in protest.
“Go ahead then, join the dark side!” Albert teased.
“You can go ahead and join them, but don’t expect us to follow.” Sam Warned
L gave an intrigued look “I mean it.” Sam said.
“Alright.” L mumbled. She turned and saw will coming
“Will!” She called out running up to him.
“Uh, hey L? What’s going on?” Will asked in confusion.
L rolled her eyes, “we’re late for breakfast! Come on!” She nudged will gently, but he was staring at Sam and Albert. He was observing the way they looked at each other.
He was jealous.
“Will?” L mumbled, nudging him again.
“Oh!” Will said snapping back into reality. “Yeah, right. We should go.”
The four of them walked to breakfast, sitting together at the long table.
Will stared at his plate, trying not to look at everyone else.
“Will?” Sam asked touching will’s shoulder.
Will looked up. “What?” He asked a little to forcefully.
Sam moved away a little, “sorry, you just look a little upset.”
“I’m fine.” Will said looking back down.
Sam stared at Will for a while. “Ok.”
The three talked while will poked at his food with a fork. Soon breakfast was over and it was time for class. Will had English with Sam and Albert.
Great. Will thought as grabbed his books from his locker. Just what I needed.
He walked over to Sam and Albert who were at their own lockers.
“Hey will,” Sam said as he closed his locker.
“Hey,” Will mumbled.
Albert closed his locker and started walking, Sam and Will following close behind.
They reached the class room and went inside, sitting a three desks next to each other. Sam and Albert started talking to each other. Will watched, Jealous.
The teacher walked in and the two stopped talking. Sam looked up to see Will staring at him. Will looked away quickly.
Is will ok? Sam thought as he directed his attention to the teacher and continued on with the class.
-After class-
Sam and Albert were walking together, will trailing behind them. Will stared at the ground as he walked, Albert talking loudly to Sam.
“Hey will, Albert forgot something in the dorm we will meet you at lunch ok?” Sam said, making will look up. Will nodded and watched the two trot off.
Finally some peace and quiet.
Will made it to lunch and sat down, saving a seat for Sam and Albert. Time went by and Neither Sam nor Albert showed up, leaving Will alone.
They will be at classes, Will thought, Sam wouldn’t let Albert or himself miss one lesson.
But Will was soon proved wrong when neither of them showed up to class.
-MEANWHILE-
Sam and Albert had been fighting, Sam said he wanted to spend some time with Will , alone . But Albert didn’t want to leave Sam’s side. He was scared he would lose him again.
“I don’t need you to watch out for me all the Time!” Sam protested
“Well maybe I just don’t want to lose you!” Albert yelled back
“Yeah well maybe you won’t?”
“I have in the past and I didn’t like it!”
“Albert?”
“What?”
“Maybe we shouldn’t be together.”
This surprised Albert a little. After all they had been through?
“What?” Albert said in shock
“I said, maybe we shouldn’t be together.”
“We should just, break up?”
Sam nodded sadly, avoiding Alberts eyes.
PART EIGHT
Will went to look for the two in the dorm, but when he got to the door, he was shoved over by an angry and upset Albert.
Albert pushed his way down the hall and around the corner, trying to find somewhere to hide.
Will poked his head into the dorm to see a sad looking Sam.
“Sam?” Will asked softly.
Sam lifted his head up to reveal that he was crying.
“What happened?” Will asked rushing to Sam’s side,
“We- we” Sam tried to speak “We broke up,” He sniffled
Will couldn’t help but feel a little glad, but at the same time he knew it was wrong and knew that he should be sad for his friend.
"Maybe it isn't such a bad thing?" will suggested
"What do you mean?" Sam asked
"Well, you two have spent so much time together maybe it's food to have a break."
Sam signed "I just don't know what happened."
"Did he say something?"
"I said that I wanted to spend some time alone with you and he said he didn't want to lose me agaij."
"Oh." will humbled
Sam saw him friends face fall "no! No it not your fault it's mine!" he rushed
Will smiled shyly at Sam "i didnt mean go break up with him but now it's over." Sam was. Sobbing again. Will comforted his friend.
Maybe he had a chance to have Sam all to himself.
"It's not your fault! If he thinks you are too fragile to do things with out him, then he is an idiot. " will said in attempt to cheer up his friend
"But I love him!" Sam cried, much to wills disappointment. " and I don't want to lose him. I-I really don't."
Will gave Sam a big hug. "I'll always be here for you." will told Sam who smiled through the tears.
"Come on," will said getting up "professor Weiler called us to his office earlier to give us some homework that we missed. Then maybe we could head to the library and finish it off early, it might take your mind off Albert."
Sam nodded getting up as well.
Professor weiler was by far the best teacher at the school, his office is very big and full of cool stuff from when he did acting. "Hello!" he says as he opens the door to find Sam and will. Professor weiler is a big brown horse (a little like will 🙃) and he was once very famous.
"Hi professor!" will said, as Sam was still sniffling.
"Are you alright Sam?" professor weiler asked. Sam nodded
"Im fine." Sam said softly "we just came to pick up some homework."
"Ah yes!" professor weiler said picking up some folders full of pages. "Practice these then answer the questions!"
Will and Sam nodded, taking the folders and walking out.
Once they were gone professor weiler sat down on his chair again and sighed "I wonder where Albert is. I thought he was meant to come too."
Just like that the door opened again to Albert who looked a little angry. "Oh Albert there you are!"
"Hi." he said. Sean what was with Albert came through the door as well. "Sean! Hello!" professor weiler smiled "hey" Sean said happily "do you have our homework?"
"Right here Sean!" professor weiler said handing them folders similar to will and Sam's. "You know you remind me of a friend I had. Nick."
"Oh?" sean said a little supprised.
"Anyway you should be off. It's getting late." professor weiler said. " thanks for coming"
Sean and Albert nodded before leaving.
Part nine.
The days were long and all Sam wanted to do was avoid Albert, who was very angry and upset. Poor Sam had to also avoid Alberts friends and family. And he had a big family.
Will was always by Sam’s side. They became very close, talking to each other all the time and finding secret places to hide from bullies.
Sam and will snuck around school all day, skipping classes here and there. They became closer and closer, isolating themselves from the rest of the school. If someone talked about one of them it would be Sam and will. They were seen as the same. No one referred to them as just Sam or just will. That’s what they used to do before Albert and Sam broke up. Times were changing, and so were Sam and will’s feelings for each other.
This made Albert mad. Seeing Sam and will so close. It hurt Albert, being so far away from Sam. He wanted him back. But from what he was seeing it wasn’t happening anytime soon.
“He probably broke up with me so that he could be with Will,” Albert told Sean on day when they were walking slowly down the hall towards Polly and rose.
“Your probably right mate.” Sean sighed. “Sorry.”
“It’s ok.” Albert sighed shaking his head.
“Oh albert, Sean, hi!” Polly spotted the two goats And waved them over.
“Hey.” Sean said happily. “We were just talking about the reason Sam broke up with albert.”
“Ahh, I see.” Polly huffed. “It’s so he could hang out with that loser Will right?”
“Probably” albert shrugged, trying not to let it effect him.
“You deserve better albert.” Rose said trying to cheer up her cousin.
“Thanks.” Albert mumbled. “I just miss him.”
“You will be alright al.” Rose said going to stand next to albert.
“Thanks Rosie.”
-meanwhile-
Sam and will were spending their free period in a secret spot they had found in the library behind some shelves and a desk.
Will was leaned against Sam’s shoulder.
“Hey will?” Sam asked softly.
“Yes?”
“You remember that night a few months ago. Back at the farm?”
“I’m not sure what you’re talking about?”
“You said you had something important to tell me and them freaked out.”
“Oh, that.” Will looked down at the ground.
“What did you want to tell me? I’m pretty sure it wasn’t that you liked cake.”
“Yeah.”
“What is it? Can you tell me.”
“Um.” Will fumbled. “I-i”
Will couldn’t make eye contact with the white horse
“Will?”
“I love you.” Will quickly spat out. He looked up at Sam hopefully. Sam smiled a little.
“I’m sorry.” Will quickly said.
“No no it’s alright.” Sam assured him.
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
“It’s ok if you don’t like me back, it’s just a stupid crush right? We can still be friends.” The words spilled out of his mouth.
“No. No it’s ok.” Sam said softly. “Of course we can still be friends.”
There was a long silence as the two looked into each other’s eyes.
“Will?” Sam whispered breaking the silence.
“Yes Sam”
“Iloveyoutoo.” Sam quickly mumbled
“What?” Will said not able to hear what Sam had said.
Sam took a deep breath.
“I love you too..” he said a little louder.
Will’s eyes widened. “What?”
“For goodness sake will! How many times are you going to make me say it!” Sam huffed
“Until I believe this isn’t some weird dream.” Will joked.
Sam gently punched Will and laughed a little.
Will sighed. “Wow.”
“Just wow?” Sam looked at Will.
“Just wow.” Will sighed again looking back at Sam.
“So.” Sam mumbled awkwardly. “Wanna go on a date or something, I don’t know.”
“I would love too, but didn’t you just break up with Albert?” Will asked
“Yes but-but..” Sam trailed off not knowing what to say.
The two were silent for the rest of the day. Not talking to each other, unsure of what to say. Unsure of what was going on. Unsure of what they were to each other.
End of part nine..
Part 10
Albert knew there was something up with Sam and Will. Why would they stop talking for no reason. They would just stare at each other where they sat in the class (next to each other) and every so often glance at the teacher. It annoyed Albert.
Albert decided to go speak to Sam.
“Sam?” Albert asked one time after class when Will was talking to the teacher.
“What do you want?” Sam said coldly.
“Are you ok?” Albert asked cautiously
“Why do you want to know?”
“I mean, like you and will? You two don’t seem to be talking a lot.”
Sam blushes a little.
“Yeah, we’re ok I guess.” Sam replied shyly.
“Why are you blushing?”
“Oh? Oh! Um.”
“Sam? What’s going on?”
Sam looked around before running off.
