James had thought long and hard about what Sirius had been through and how much he suffered, but what had never come across his mind was Regulus the brother of his best friend. James was walking around school when he saw him, the prettiest boy he had ever seen, James and never found a boy pretty before only Lily. The first time he saw lily was on the train and he had fallen in love, it was now 5 years later, and he had the same feeling or so he thought. He watched this boy gracefully walk past him, he didn't know who he was or even recognise him which was usual as James usually knew everybody. After the boy left his sight he ran back to the Gryffindor common room to tell Sirius, he knew Sirius wouldn’t care because one he was gay and he was madly in love with Remus. Once he made it back he ran around trying to find Sirius and he found him asleep on the couch near the fire. “ Sirius your never going to believe it I think I found someone to replace lily, seeing as she’s rejected me so many times” – “ shut up, you could never what’s her name”- “ “ I don’t know, his name”. After James dropped that bomb Sirius sat there dumbfounded staring directly at James, “ so you’re saying the person replacing lily is a guy, and you don’t know his name, James”. After gossiping and telling Sirius everything James can remember about the boy, his jawline, his messy but neat looking hair, how graceful he looked when he walked, James went to be dreaming about the nameless boy.
Walking around school, James always looked out for his boy, but never succeeded in finding him. James began to worry that he had imagined the boy and started pacing around the grounds trying to come up with a reason that this boy was unfindable. After calming himself down he hears a boy’s voice say “ please stop leave me alone snape- then a deeper voice said shut it black” James having his hero complex felt the need to help whoever was in harms way, he ran towards the voice and saw snivellus and his boy. He ran over and hexed snape telling him to piss of and go wash his hair, he turned back to his boy then remembered what snape had called him. He then realised he knew who his boy was it was Sirius’s younger brother, Sirius had only brought up he had brother once in their whole time of being friends and it was brief not describing how he looked at all. They boy looks up and face immediately turned from a smile to a disgusted look, then spiting at him “fuck off potter, I didn’t need your help I could have delt with him on my own” James stood there dumbfounded never expecting such aggressive words to come out of a mouth of someone who looked so gracious. Turning away, the youngest black starts to walk, James still wanting to talk to him calls out “ wait baby black, I just wanted to make sure your okay” – “ call me baby black again and ill hex you so hard you’ll never be able to make your own”. James then decided to say something that would leave him and regulus surprised- “ I want to get to know you”- “ what do you mean potter”- “ I mean when I see you around school, you always seem so reserved and unemotional and I want to get to know you like who you are underneath the no emotions act”- “ you can try” and with that Regulus walked away leaving James alone. James was beaming when he arrived back at the common room, all his friends turned to him and said “woah, what happened to you it looks like lily finally said yes”. After being interrogated by his friends for 30 minutes, he gave in said someone he wanted to talk to, talked to him. They looked at him like he had said he wanted to be in Slytherin instead of Gryffindor, he walked away going to bed. Now instead of dreaming a nameless boy he dreamed of his best friend’s brother.
James was lying in bed unable to sleep and decided to look on the map, he saw Regulus near the astronomy tower, James thought that anything would be more interesting then listen to Remus and Sirius laughing together high out if their minds. He got up grabbed his invisibility cloak and set out towards the astronomy tower, while coming up the plan to try tell regulus why he knew where to find him. He came up with the plan that he sleep walks and woke up near the tower so he just decided to go there. He made it to the tower and he saw Regulus sitting down with his sleeve pulled up and him just looking at his wrist, although he was content with just watching Regulus James realised it would be creepy if Regulus noticed first. So he knocked on the wall and Regulus pulled down his sleeve and glared over, his gaze softening slightly when he saw it was James. “James what are you doing here”-“why were you looking at your wrist”-“I asked first why did you come here”, sticking to his plan he says confidently “I sleep walk and I walked here then I woke up and thought it would be nice to watch the stars. Now my question what was so interesting about you’re wrist”- “its none of your business”-“I want to know though”, aggravated and not in the mood Regulus says “ fuck off potter it doesn’t concern you”-“ it does you’re my friend and I care about all my friends, so what is it”-“since when are we friends’-“since now”. Eventually he gives up on trying to get anything out of regulus and he hopes it isn’t what he thinks. They eventually sit in silence till Regulus starts to tell James about the constellations, intrigued James listened closely being amazed by how much Regulus knew. Soon enough Regulus falls asleep and James follows suit.
