Micaiah and Sothe made their way through the tunnels that bound the Metro together. They had fled their home station of Daein after a long war with a few neighboring stations and the largest station on their line Begnion had sent in a small but fearsome occupation force that used everything they could to keep the northernmost station in line.

The silver-haired Micaiah had a pistol underneath her coat but Sothe insisted that she not use it instead he relied on his admittedly impressive collection of throwing knives to kill the Watchers and Nosalises which made the abandoned and sometimes radioactive tunnels of the Moscow Metro home.

They were originally a group of five but their companions, Edward, Nolan, and Leonardo had gotten separated from them after a massive pack of Watchers tore through the tunnel that they had been traveling in. They had just barely gotten away from the horde with their lives and they weren't sure if the trio was alive or dead but they couldn't think about it they wouldn't let themselves.

Sothe put his hand up in a signal to stop as an Anomaly's light became visible on the walls ahead and Micaiah paused. She had told him about the balls of light after she heard about it from a strange old man named Khan.

Sothe wasn't as spiritual as she was but he knew her well enough to know that she was telling the truth. Once the sentient ball of light passed, they let out soft breaths before continuing on.

"Sothe, do you know this area?" Micaiah asked softly, the words echoing quietly off the abandoned walls of the prison and home that was the Metro.

"No, I don't think so," He stopped to open his lighter and she got close to him. "These tunnels look completely abandoned… as if nobody has been here in… who knows how long. I don't think this is a Line that's home to anything human… not anymore." His already quiet voice was even quieter so she had to strain to hear him even with the echo of the tunnels."

"S-should we turn around? Maybe try to find the others?"

"No, not with the potential of ambush… let's hope that this leads to a station that isn't hostile."

Micaiah nodded and grabbed his hand. "Come on, let's go." Sothe gently pulled her down the tunnel and they resumed their journey in silence.

It wasn't long before the two pressed themselves into a small nook when they heard footsteps. A glance of silent alarm went between the two of them as the footsteps stopped and a quiet almost soothing voice echoed.

"It's all right, my companions and I won't hurt you."

Sothe and Micaiah were silent for a bit when the voice spoke again. "We have no weapons, we're unarmed." They looked at each other and reluctantly moved into the open before gasping.

The three figures in front of them weren't completely human two had tails and one had wings. "What kind of mutants are you?!" Sothe asked as a few knives came into his hand and the white-winged 'mutant' put his hands up. "We mean you no harm, I swear. My name is Rafiel."

The female companion hushed him and her white tail twitched. "Nailah, the silent one is Volug." Her voice was short and almost snappy but not hostile. Other than her tail the most obvious thing about her was the eyepatch covering her left eye. "We'll take you to our station… now come on."

The white wolf-tailed 'mutant' turned around and walked off and the other two followed her. Sothe kept his knives in his hand but beckoned to Micaiah and they reluctantly kept pace.

After who knows how long the five made it back to Metro tunnels that were actually inhabited and the two who weren't 'mutants' were astounded to see others… many others.

Nailah moved her head and looked back at the two with her one eye before smiling. "Welcome to our station… this is Hatari."
