Work Text:
Like any other day for Phil: waking up, eating breakfast with his parents, training for a bit, then traveling into the forest to hang out with his girlfriend until the sunset. During his day, he suddenly saw things like his mother's sorrowful face and his father's distressed face as he left to train. Also, how the other people in his clan were either baffled or disappointed stares as he passed. It was weird to him, and they were acting differently because they usually joyfully greeted him or gave him a polite wave as he passed. But what was so different about today?
But he ignored it and went to the open flower field that he and his girlfriend claim for their own. It was a simple field filled with different colored flowers, which Kristin loves when we make flower crowns, or Phil braids them into her hair. It was also a very secluded area, with a forest around it and an open sea in the distance. This is where they are now, Kristin helping Phil groom his vibrant green wings, ad flowers surround them.
"It's weird, Kristin, they never do this…,"
Phil stated as he waved his arms dramatically, which got a laugh out of Kristin.
"Haha, maybe they are planning something for you?"
Kristin replied, gently catering her fingers through his wings.
"Maybe…,"
Phil grumbled, relaxing in Kristin's hold.
After that, they let the topic drop and watched as the sun slowly disappeared under the horizon line, allowing the moon to take its place. Phil sighed, knowing it was time for them to go home, but he did not want to leave the lady he had grown to love.
"Looks like it is time to head home…,"
Kristin mumbled as Phil took a stand and helped Kristin from the ground.
"Love you,"
Phil bubbled, leaning over and kissing Kristin's cheek gently.
"Love you too, you big softie,"
Kristin giggled and returned the gesture before walking off in the direction of her house.
Phil watched her disappear within the tree lines before turning and walking back to his clan. It wasn't a long walk, a turn here and there, but his world went black once he made it to the settlement entrance.
—--------------
When I came back to reality, he was strapped down to a piece of stone with his wings in the air clipped to stay open. I'm unsure what is happening as he tries to get out of his bonds but was fruitful in his attempt.
"Hello..?"
I called out to the darkness around him, and like a light, a nearby fire lit up.
In my vision, I can see the elders, the townspeople, and his parents all holding torches to continue to light the area. The elders gestured to my parents to walk up to me, and my mother immediately ran up to me.
"I'm so sorry, Phil!"
My mother cried, hugging me as my father joined used.
"What is happening…?"
I asked fearfully as tears started to fall.
My parents went to answer me but were pulled away by the other elders as the leading elder walked up to me.
"To this day forth, you Phil Ambrose, have been exiled from this clan and other avian's clans! You are to not have any contract with any avians until the day you die!"
The elder bellowed, reaching out for the ax that someone held out to him.
I stared at him in shock and fear; what have I done to be exiled?! All opinions that came to my mind were acceptable according to the rules imposed on us.
"Wait, I haven't done anything wrong?!"
I yelled as the elder grabbed onto one of my wings.
"Oh? Then what about that little human girl you've been spreading time with?"
The elder spat, lining up the ax with my wing.
My eyes widened in shock, and I screamed: "Wait, she isn't-!!"
And then ax came down….
"AHHHHHH!!!"
—---------------
I don't remember how long I lay there. After being knocked unconscious, I might have just been dreaming, but when I went to touch where my wings were I felt nothing. I started weeping; everything that was in my life was taken away.
Kristin.
Maybe she can help? By the sun time that we met up, maybe later? I don't know; the pain is probably getting to my head, but I still get up and make my way to the meeting spot.
—----------------
It was almost night when Phil reached to vibrant flower field where his lovely girlfriend was waiting for him. When she realized that he was here, she said, "Oh Phil, I thought you weren't coming..Phil? Phil!!"
She screamed, racing up to her injured boyfriend as he fells into Kristin's open arms. She asked him questions, but he was too tired to answer and promptly fell into a deep slumber.
—----------------
It wasn't until a few days later that Phil woke up. The pain he felt before was only a slight dual. He saw Kristin sleeping by his bedside, holding onto one of his hands. He thought about what happened a couple of days before, sobbing uncontrollably. He didn't realize Kristin was hugging him.
—-------------------
"-il, Phil? You okay there?"
The voice of my son asked as I came back to reality.
"Yeah, sorry, Wil, I spaced out there bit,"
I replied and continued to tend to my previous injured wing.
"Hm. You need help?"
Wilbur questioned, but I just shook my head no.
"Okay, call me if you need anything,"
And at that, Wilbur left, slamming the door as he went.
"Hmmm, Kristin would be so proud of you of how far you've come,"
I smiled at the thought of my wife and let go of my black wing.
