Summary:

Picking up where the episode left off and adding a little twist… referencing “Horn Blows At Midnight”

Work Text:

Late evening in the guys’ apartment, they stood in the living room. Balki had his arms around Larry, who currently stood in a blue dress a la Bea Arthur. His curls had been plastered down underneath a wig as he pretended to be a wealthy woman and prove to Lydia that her current beau was using her. Mission succeeded, Balki had hugged Larry for fixing the mess he had gotten Lydia into. Unfortunately, Jennifer appeared at the door and saw this awkward moment. She had turned and gone back out.

Larry sighed, eyebrows creased upward. Figures. How in the world she always caught them in these moments that must look rather interesting without knowing the backstory.

Balki spotted the look on Larry’s face. “Cousin, why do’n I go tell the girls what a great thing you did while you become you again?”

Larry considered it briefly, then nodded. “All right. Thanks, Balki.”

Balki gave him one more one-armed squeeze then headed out the door. Larry closed it after him, shaking his head. He went into the bathroom and peered into the mirror. He cringed at the sight.

Larry couldn’t decide what to do first. He wanted the makeup off his face badly, but he also wanted out of the blue dress. He sighed and went to his bedroom. After several minutes, he emerged now in his blue robe, the dress left on his bed. He would take care of that later. Now he wanted to clean up his face.

Once again in front of the mirror, he cringed again, then shrugged and made a kissy face that made him chuckle. Larry turned on the faucet to warm and ran a washcloth under it. Just then a knock came at the door. “Balki?” he called out, pausing. He thought Balki might have forgot his key. “Wait… I didn’t lock the door…” Larry said, aloud. He stepped out of the bathroom in time to see the door open.

However, it wasn’t Balki who entered. No, the figure was shrouded in a black hooded cloak. The arms hung down at its sides and the head was bowed, showing no sign of a face.

Larry’s eyes grew wide, brow lifted as high as it’ll go. “M… M…”

The figure nodded slightly, then raised an arm and pointed a bony finger at Larry.

“No!” Larry yelped. “Get out of here, Mr. Death! Go away!”

The dark figure cackled… yet it seemed familiar.

Larry’s eyes narrowed. “I’ve heard that laugh before… Gorpley! What in the hell are you doing?”

Mr. Gorpley pushed back the hood, but continued to laugh/cackle. “The look… on your face…!”

“That was NOT funny, Gorpley,” Larry fumed.

“You’re right… Appleton… It’s hilarious!” Mr. Gorpley busted out laughing again. He went to leave, but paused and laughed again. He just barely got out as Larry advanced, fist raised. The door slammed before he got there.

Larry slammed the side of his fist into door in aggravation and anger. He stood there for a long moment, head bowed. How badly he wanted to punch the man. How Gorpley had even found out about Mr. Death was beyond him.

Larry sighed and turned, about to go back to the bathroom when he heard a staccato knock at the door. He turned. “Who’s there?” He winced at the slight tremble in his voice.

“Larry? It’s Jennifer. I want to apologize for earlier…”

Larry opened the door and looked into the eyes of his girlfriend.

She sighed. “Balki told us what you did for Lydia. I just wanted to apologize for rushing away earlier. It’s just that… I seem to have bad timing and always catch you two in the middle of something…” Jennifer trailed off as she noted the frown etched on Larry’s face.. “Is something wrong?”

“Wrong?” Larry asked, snapping out of his funk. “Me? No, I’m fine. I was… about to go clean this off…” He motioned to his face.

“I could help,” Jennifer offered.

Larry nodded. “I think I’d like that.”

End…?
