I really am only making this for myself and a friend but i figured that maybe others would be interested as well. it kinda is set in an AU but also not. Basically Xiao is the god of the ocean soooo yeah. I came up with this idea in spanish class (embarrassing).

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

“Let's go back to the summer night, when we met eyes it’s like a movie line…”

Prologue

It's something of a luxury for him to be able to share the tale of his lover to the world. Even more, to be able to come back multiple mortal lifetimes to keep the story going, each time looking different of course… don't want them catching on. Despite it bringing strong emotion to the table, the idea of him preventing false retells of the story has way more value than anything else in this world.

The night before, he laid down nearby the admost famous oak tree in Springvale, staring up into the stars, the cold refreshing grass providing a nice cushion. Nostalgia of those prior times swirling through his mind. Those times when he’d stargaze with him before he knew, knew of how he felt. He’d look over at him, admiring the dusted constellations within his bright green eyes, while he lost a sense of reality from looking out in the distance. Quite literally starstruck. It wasn't uncommon for him to do this. Every time they visited a new sight, he’d always get lost in the beauty around them. He’d have to practically shake him and call out his name to regain his presence. Gosh does he miss those times. Occasionally when he wasn’t so preoccupied by the world around him, he’d get a chance to meet eyes with him. The energy each time they met eyes made the force around them feel…different…not in the bad way, everything just felt heightened; the freshness of the air; the clarity of weather; the tranquility of others. He tilted his head to the left. Even though he wasn’t there, he still felt like his eyes locked in with his. He could still feel the same gust of tranquilent wind that would rustle past his braids all those years back. It was almost like he was still there.

“Where are you? Okeanós?”, he whispered, weakness in his voice, “I miss you dearly…”

Call him crazy but he swore he heard a voice call back in a faint echo, “I do too, Barbatos…”
