Work Text:

This was a rare sight.
When you made the executive decision to finally trudge over to bed, you were assuming you’d see one of a few things from Marc.
Either he’d be playing with his rubik’s cube, reading a book, maybe even jacking off, but certainly not sleeping. Yet here he was, wiped out and sprawled across the already uneven mattress. With any other person you’d nudge them awake and scold them for the amount of the bed they had possessed, but you were careful not to do so with Marc when you got yourself in bed beside him.
However, as you adjusted yourself, you had a difficult time getting Marc’s head away from where you could possibly disturb him, so you threw caution to the wind and guided his head onto your chest. He mumbled something in his sleep, sighing, and you began to get worried you might have awoken him. But his breathing evened out once more and he curled closer to you.
If you had wanted to get up any time soon, those plans were diminished. You stroked your hand through his dark hair and he hummed in his sleep.
It was cliche, but it was your cliche.
At some point your eyes grew dreary and heavy, the pattern you harbored of pacing your hands back and forth in Marc’s hair a soothing repetition as you closed your eyes, fully prepared to succumb to your own sleep, tiredness tugging at your body, beckoning it to its ivory depth beneath your eyelids.
But that beckoning would have to be avoided, noting that Marc began to stir. You whimpered lightly at the occurrence, and opened your eyes as you felt him stretch his arms.
“Marc, go back to sleep…” you pleaded, voice thick and foggy.
“H-how long was…I sleeping for?” He asked.
“I dunno, a few hours. C’mon, sleep for a few hours more?”
“I don’t think I’ll be able to. I’m awake now.”
You looked into his eyes in feigned agitation, but deep down you ached for him to be laying on your chest again. He furrowed his brow.
“I’m sorry, I can always just lay here. You can keep playing with my hair if it helps you sleep.” Marc offered.
“‘If it helps me sleep’ or do you just want me to put my hands in your hair again?” You teased. Marc averted your gaze and fidgeted with his hands.
“What, do you like it?” You said, softer this time.
“Yeah.”
“I figured. C’mere.”

Hours passed since then. Admittedly both of you knew you wouldn’t be sleeping anytime soon. Neither of you were good sleepers, but the routine of just laying in silence, getting comfortable in each other’s arms, was enough to make you both lay there for hours. But after a while you grew a bit dehydrated and looked over at the bedside table, to no avail. You’d have to get up to grab some water. So, you nudged Marc’s arms gently as you pushed the blanket off of you, kicking it away from your feet. With his soft whine, you kissed his cheek.
“Marc, I’m just gonna go grab some water. I’ll be back.”
“No…” he grumbled, pulling you back in.
“Marc, hun, I’ll be quick.” You bargained, tucking some of his ruffled hair away from his face. He sighed in defeat as you edged off the bed and to your tired feet. Grabbing your phone off the charger, you set on your flashlight as to not disturb Marc by turning on a light elsewhere.

With a full glass in hand, you stumbled back to the bedroom, sipping gratefully as you were parched.
“Lemme have some.” Marc mumbled, beckoning you back to the bed.
“Me or the water?” You teased, setting your phone flashlight off and placing it back on the charger with your free hand.
“Either one.” He responded with a smile.
“Okay, both.”
You set the water on the nightstand and leaned over to kiss Marc. He shuffled closer into the kiss, a hand on your chin guiding you to his lips. A bit chapped, but soft nonetheless. As you broke away, Marc stretched over and grabbed the water, drinking as you made your way back onto the mattress. He put the water back down, allowing you to get in beside him fully, resting your head on his chest as he settled back into lying down.
“Was it worth it?” You asked.
“Hm?”
“Me getting up to get water?”
“Well, I got a kiss out of it, so maybe.” You could feel Marc’s smile in the dark.
“You can always kiss me, Marc, all you have to do is say the word.” You mused.
“The word.” Marc joked, and you laughed lightly as you slid yourself on top of him, placing your hands on either side of his face and kissing him. He put his arms around you, unwilling to let you go. You shifted your legs, straddling him, closer as you kissed him deeper.
You broke away to catch your breath.
“More.” Marc pleaded, leaning upward in search of your lips.
“Calm down, honey, I’m not going anywhere.” You promised, returning to his lips. Your noses bumped together and Marc chuckled before you both found each other again, you grazing your teeth on his lower lip teasingly and then kissing him. Marc mirrored your gesture and very softly bit your lip, and you pushed yourself closer to him in response. You heard his breath hitch, and you lifted your head back up to watch his fall back.
At first confused, he responded by pushing his hips towards you, and you understood. You smiled to yourself.
“Marc?”
“Y-Yeah?”
“Tell me what you want.”
“You.”
You nodded and delivered.
