Work Text:
Lee Su Hyeok was angry.
Very much so, but there wasn’t much he could do about it. He had dedicated an entire year to his so called “friends” - a group of bullies in reality. They were mean people who harassed all the students in school. He stayed at the back with them, not even associating himself with the rest of the class. He didn’t even register their faces. Faces meant attachment, and that wasn’t allowed.
Lee Su Hyeok wasn’t sure what he was angry at.
Was he frustrated with himself for associating with such vile, cruel monsters? Or was he furious at those very monsters for disregarding him as ‘weak’ or a ‘loser’; simply because he refused to be a tyrant. Because he refused to watch and wait.
Lee Su Hyeok didn’t want to be a bully.
So he walked away. Simple as that. No fights - he hoped to never let himself do that again, but he cursed and screamed at the hurtful comments all the same. The words ‘loser’, ‘weak’, ‘idiot’, ‘bastard’ and more insults he wasn’t bothered enough to think of then now plagued his mind. These thoughts were interrupted by a low grumble.
Lee Su Hyeok was hungry.
He only just noticed, but now it was impossible to ignore. He was tired. He hadn’t eaten a proper meal since the morning, a predicament which he now very much regretted getting himself into. He wasn’t sure exactly where he was headed, but he knew these streets like the back of his hand and eventually stopped at one of the newer chicken places. “Cheongsan’s Chicken”, he wondered what the name could possibly mean. Either way, it wasn’t long before he found himself seated with a large plate of chicken before him. The owner seemed to be a nice lady and she surely recognized a hungry child as soon as she saw one. “Come, come! Here, eat up!”, that was all it took for him to start devouring the meat as if it were his lifeline. After a few pieces though, he managed to calm down enough to wipe his face clean. Just in time, it seemed, as he heard the soft jingle of the bell announcing a new arrival and turned to see who it was.
Lee Su Hyeok must be dead, because he was sure he was looking an angel.
At least, that was what it felt like when he first laid eyes on the fluffy-haired boy. He had a dazzling smile, as if the Sun itself could draw energy from him. The boy had the face and body of a Greek god. Sharp nose, chiseled jawline, pink lips; and a frame that - although hidden behind layers of clothing - seemed to be quite lean and muscular. His hair and clothes were damp and his face glowed with slight perspiration. He was breathtaking.
Lee Su Hyeok was a goner.
That much was clear. The short glimpse was enough to stem a lifetime of obsession from Su Hyeok. As he watched the boy hastily run upstairs (and no, he definitely wasn’t staring at his butt) it was evident that something had shifted within him. He was desperate for another glimpse of that angelic face. He wanted to know all about him. He wished that the boy came with a wikipedia page with all his info. He wanted to know everything.
—THE NEXT DAY—
Lee Su Hyeok wanted to slap himself across the face.
He saw it all coming. The stares from worried classmates. The glares from his ex-“friends”. Gwi-nam being Gwi-nam and trying (but failing) to intimidate him. Whispers of rumors that were already being spread by the bullies.
What he didn’t not expect was him.
The same fluffy haired boy, now with a name tag included.
“Lee Cheongsan”
Ah. Now it made sense.
Cheongsan looked neater in class, which was a given as they were at school after all. It still hit him like a ton of bricks. He was here. In the same room. With him. Walking towards him.
Wait… what?!?
WALKING TOWARDS HIM.
Lee Su Hyeok was having a mental breakdown.
“Lee Su Hyeok, right? I’m Lee Cheongsan. We have an assignment together- well you probably wouldn’t know since you were… uhh- out?”
Right. He remembered the events of the day before all too well. He was told to bunk school and meet up in the forest, so he left halfway. Yet again, the thugs had pulled up another innocent kid to bully. Except this time they (Gwi Nam) insisted that Su Hyeok get involved in all the tyranny, even going so far as pulling the kid’s head by his hair and slamming it into his chest.
Only to get his arm promptly yanked off of the poor boy’s head and twisted behind his arm. The boy ran off to safety, and Su Hyeok finally cut off the thugs from his life for good.
“Hello? Su Hyeok?”
“Uh… yeah, yesterday! I-I had to deal with a few.. pests.”
Cheongsan gave him a confused smile, somehow filled with an inexplicable beauty. A confused smile with a softness in his eyes, as if he saw right through the mean facade and deep into his soul. Eyes that glistened with stars. Eyes glazed over with curiosity.
That confused smile was all it took.
Lee Su Hyeok would never be the same again.
