Chapter Text

"So I find out you're sleeping with another man, and now you want a divorce and take my son away from me??"

Daichi never yelled, his mom taught him it was never ok to yell at anybody especially a lady; so in a situation like this he was always able to keep his calm. The woman sitting at the kitchen table in front of him was supposed to be his wife. The one that he would grow old with but nowadays he felt as if he didn't even know her.

She pushed her hair out of her face, "Yes. When I leave you, you're not going to be able to handle him on your own."

Daichi set his mug down, "We can work this out Emiko! Please just, you can't leave me... and take him with you."

The woman sat up from the table, "I want nothing to do with you Daichi! And I'm taking MY son!"

"Where are you taking me Mommy?"

The woman turned around, there was a small child standing in the entrance of the hallway.

He had pale skin, hazel eyes, and straight messy dark brown hair, that was getting long and eventually would need to be cut. He wore beige cargo shorts, a regular pale blue tee that was a little too big for him and white sneakers.

Emiko smiled, "You, me and Katsu are going to live in an apartment!"

The boys brows furrowed, "What about Daddy?"

She kept her smile, "Daddy is going to stay here."

The boy looked up at Daichi, and then looked at the lady with a pout, "But then he'll be all alone!"

She shrugged, "He'll be fine."

The boy crossed his small arms over his chest, "I don't want to leave Daddy here all alone!!" Daichi smiled at the argument.

Emiko just sighed, "Kento it's not up to you, now go get your bag so I can take you to school." The boy huffed as he stomped back down the hallway.

Daichi grabbed the keys out of the key bowl, "I'll take him."

She sighed, "Whatever I don't care, It'll give me more time to pack anyways."

He smiled bitterly and put his shoes on,  then the little boy came out of the hallway, "I'm ready!" Daichi gestured him over to the door, the boy smiled wide and then waved at the woman, "Bye Mommy!" He skipped out the door and Daichi slammed it behind them, making sure that Emiko got the message.

Daichi pressed the unlock button on his car keys, which unlocked his old Toyota. It wasn't super old that it looked trashy or anything, it just wasn't anything fancy. He slipped into his seat and just as he sat down he heard the back door slam.

"Sorry Daddy! I didn't mean to slam it!!"

Daichi chuckled, "It's ok, just hurry and buckle up."

The boy sat into his car-seat and and bit his lower lip while his brows furrowed as he fastened the belts and buckles. There was three clicks before the boy said, "Ok I'm ready!" Daichi smiled and looked into his rear-view mirror. Sure enough his son sat in his car-seat and stared out the car window in awe like he usually did. He put the key in the engine and started the car up then slowly backed out of the driveway.

Daichi drove in the slow lane on one of the main streets he drove on to get to Kento's school when Kento finally said something, "Daddy do we have time to get pastries today?"

Daichi quickly glanced down at the car's small console screen, "No sorry, not today."

Kento sighed and leaned his head back in his car-seat, "That's ok Daddy."

"Do you want to listen to music?"

The boy shook his head, "No, I just want to look out the window." Daichi smiled, he wanted quiet anyways, "Ok, if that's what you want." He stared out in front of him, he wished he could mute the thoughts that sat rent free in his mind. He didn't understand anything that happened in the past month. The car slowly came to a stop as the light turned red. He squeezed the stirring wheel hard as his right leg bounced impatiently.

The thoughts ate him alive, and the worst thing was that he didn't even know how he actually felt. He didn't know whether he should feel sad, or mad, or happy? No definitely not happy. His wife cheated and now wants to take his son away so they can live happily with her douche bag lover, how could he be happy?

There was a loud and long honk that made Daichi jump, he looked up and the light was green, he stepped on the gas pedal. He inhaled through his nose, held it, and then exhaled through mouth. Kento looked away from the window,

"Daddy are you ok?"

Daichi nodded and kept his eyes on the road, "Yeah why wouldn't I be?"

Kento shrugged, "Because Mommy has been yelling at you."

Daichi pulled up along the sidewalk, there was kids walking and talking around them. He turned around and looked at his son,

"I promise you Daddy is fine."

Kento smiled and kissed Daichi's forehead, "Ok if you say so!" He undid his seat and grabbed his bag with his hand on the car door handle he said, "Ok Bye Daddy!" He jumped out of the car and closed the car door and skipped onto the sidewalk. Daichi watched as he disappeared into the crowds of kids. He smiled weakly and pulled away.

Kento skipped and hummed while his bag swung wildly in the air. He suddenly bumped into a bigger figure. The figure stared down at Kento and smiled, "Good Morning Kento!" Kento smiled as he looked up at the pale slender man with pretty silver hair, "Morning Mr. Sugawara!" Sugawara ruffled his hair, "Is your Mommy or Daddy still here by chance?"

Kento shook his head, "No, Daddy already drove away" Sugawara sighed but then smiled again, "Ok well let's walk to class. It'll be starting soon." Kento smiled and grabbed Sugawara's hand, "Ok let's go!!"

Daichi was back on that main road, trying his hardest to pay attention to the road. He wasn't a violent guy so why all of the sudden did he want to punch someone or something so badly.

Especially that Katsu dude.

God he didn't have the words to describe how much he hated that tall slender man,

with his stupid emerald eyes,

and stupid piercings',

and his stupid fluffy caramel hair.

Daichi was sad at first, yeah he even cried a little, ok well a lot but he wouldn't tell anybody that.

He was sad that he could never compare to that guy, because he was gorgeous and had money... And well Daichi was basic looking and he was middle-class, which isn't something to brag about. He was sad that he'd never have a fancy ass apartment that is way bigger then necessary, and he'd never have a super nice and sleek sports car even though there wasn't need for one because his Toyota drove just fine. He was sad because he wasn't enough and probably would never be.

Now he was just mad.

Angry that she didn't tell him she lost feelings before she opened her legs behind his back. Angry that she insults him like he's nothing even though she fucking knows he tries his hardest. Angry that she talks about him to her douche bag lover behind his back. Angry that he found them in his fucking bed and now he has to sleep on the fucking couch because his heart shatters when he just looks at that bedroom. Angry that she now is threatening to take their son. Angry because he probably wasn't going to win that custody battle because he was nothing compared to Katsu.

He pulled into the driveway as he stared at the garage door in front of him blankly.

He didn't know what to do...

His life was crumbling right underneath him and he couldn't do anything other then fall into the deep black bottomless hole of despair and failure.

He slammed his forehead on the top of the stirring wheel and stared at his feet. Hot tears dripped down from his eyes and onto the floor. He squeezed his eyes shut and inhaled sharply but words lodged into his throat, so he gasped unable to breathe.

❝I want nothing to do with you.❞

❝He's better then you.❞

❝ I'm so happy I cheated on you.❞

❝God you're a mess Daichi.❞

❝ I'm taking Kento.❞

He finally caught his breath and then sobbed. His eyes squeezed shut trying to stop the fluent flow of his tears. He sat up straight and let his head loll back.

He was tired of the reality he was living.

Inhale...

Hold.

Exhale...

He used the collar of his shirt to dry his eyes, he sighed as he looked into the rear-view mirror, great his eyes and nose were red.

He'd have to wait it out.

He rubbed his eye as he dug his phone out of his pocket. He clicked on a number and called it, there was low probability that they'd answer, but that was the least of Daichi's concerns. "Hey Daichi."

"Oh um hey Iwaizumi.."

"You good?"

"Um yes. Well not really. But yes. Um I didn't think you'd answer."

"Well I did? What'd you need."

"I uh might be a little late into the office today."

"You can just take the day off if you want."

"No I definitely don't want that"

"Uh ok. Well I'll see you when you get here I guess.?"

"Yeah uh ok, see you later."

He ended the call and he sighed, god that was awkward as hell. He looked into he rear-view mirror and his face had a light pink hue to it.

Oh well.

He opened the car door and scooted out. Daichi slammed the door and locked it, then narrowed his gaze at it like it was the cause of all his problems. He shoved his hands into his pockets and walked to the front door. Opened it, and threw his keys into the bowl. He kicked his shoes off, and walked past the kitchen, living room, and into the hallway.

He stepped into the master bedroom, this time his heart didn't shatter;

instead his blood boiled and his hands balled into fists.

Emiko was sitting on the bed on her phone probably texting Katsu,

"I'm getting ready for work, I don't want him here."

She looked up at him, "It's our house I can invite whoever the hell I want."

Daichi shook his head as he walked over to the closet, "No, it's my house. You live with him in his apartment. I also want you out by the time I get back from work."

She blinked at him and then stood up, "What the hell you can't do that!"

He grabbed a shirt and some slacks,

"Well I just did."

She stared at him, in shock. Daichi gave her a honest smile and walked into the bathroom, quietly closing the door behind him. He hung the hanger that held his clothes on the doorknob of the bathroom door. He stripped out of his t-shirt and turned on the shower faucet. Unbuttoning his jeans he stepped out of them, and his boxers were slipped off shortly after.

While he did all of this he kept that honest smile on his face.

He stepped into the shower and closed the privacy glass door. Tilting his head back he stared up at the ceiling while the burning water fluently ran down his body.

Was what he said mature and reasonable?

Probably not.

That was the least of his concerns though.

He wanted her out,

he wanted nothing to do with her,

he'd win the custody battle for Kento then move far away so he didn't have to deal with her.

Okay that might be a bit much...

But that's how he felt.

He definitely wasn't going through with that plan, he had work here, friends here, and Kento grew up here. He wasn't going to let Emiko or his anger ruin Kento's childhood that's for sure.

Daichi ran his fingers through his abnormally greasy hair, it's usually soft and will get dry every so often like most hair, but this month it's been terribly greasy. He straightened his standing position making sure his head was fully under the shower head as he massaged his scalp. With his eyes screwed shut he could only think about his shitty life. Daichi was a positive person, he always looked on the bright side and always tried to get out of shitty situations.

This was not a situation he could just walk off.

In reality this was a situation that could not be fixed.

He couldn't change the past,

and he couldn't magically get rich or anything;

which has lead Daichi to think nothing could be done.

Emiko would leave him for a younger rich guy and take Kento with her, they'd be a happy family while Daichi sat here, alone, in his empty house and rot alone. Some how he'd have to find out how's he's going to have to live with that.

What a depressing shower.

He turned the water off and slid open shower door, the whole bathroom was fogged up, he didn't even take that long... Was the water that hot?

Is Daichi that numb that he couldn't even feel the scorching hot water that ran all over his body?

Could he not see the redness on his body that it left?

Could he not feel how hot it left his skin.?

He wrapped a bath towel around his waist and opened the door to desteam the bathroom. He turned to the bathroom sink and glared at the toothbrushes that sat in a plastic clear toothbrush holder, he wouldn't put it past Emiko to drop his toothbrush in the toilet or do anything stupidly childish like that. He decided to squat down and dig underneath the sink for a new toothbrush.

How sad, the man can't even brush his teeth without questioning it...

After retrieving a tooth brush he got back up, the mirror was clear and a women stood in the doorway of the bathroom watching him.

She had long dyed wine red hair with her black roots showing, big hazel eyes that always sparkled when she smiled, perfect pearly whites, and nice pale skin. He looked in the mirror as she stared at him with a smirk on her face, looking over his shoulder he asked, "Am I in your way?"

Her smile widened as she crossed her arms over her C-cups, "No, just enjoying the view. Your ass looks great in that towel."

Daichi turned around and rolled his eyes, "You have a lover, keep your eyes off things that aren't yours."

She scoffed, "We're literally married Daichi.-"

Daichi just shook his head, "No, not really. We're also getting a divorce remember? So we won't be legally married for long."

She smiled ear-to-ear as she walked away, "I know, it's the best decision I ever made in life, I could never forget."

He turned around and sighed quietly as he stared into the mirror. Tears dared to leave his eyes, but he blinked them back, she didn't get the luxury of seeing him cry.

Brushing his teeth his stared into the mirror blankly, not looking at anything in particular. He spat and wiped his mouth off with the back of his hand, then smiled weakly into the mirror.

Who was he trying to fool?

He put the toothbrush back in the packaging under the sink, then grabbed the hanger that hung his work attire. He grabbed the button down first, slipping in his left arm and then right, then slowly buttoning each button. The tie came next, he had always had trouble with tying his ties. Emiko always helped him before, but he'd rather die then ask her to tie his tie. He messed with it until it looked decent, then sighed because he knew he was helpless...

Dropping the towel around his waist he stepped into his boxer-briefs that hugged his thighs perfectly. He grabbed the slacks stepping into them one leg at a time and then hoisting them up roughly. Buckling them, then tucking the collared button down in, he grabbed his blazer and put it on. He turned around and looked into the mirror again.

Damnit he forgot to brush his hair.

Oh well, it's not like anybody would notice.

The office was a busy place, with editors struggling with their clients, the sales team dealing with asshole store owners, the marketing team trying to design something that will satisfy the clients, and then the editors again when they have to fight with the printers when they mess up. Despite the amount of arguing and bullshit that happens every damn day, the office was the only place that Daichi could unwind.

Daichi was part of the sales team, the Manager actually. The marketing team had to run their ideas by the client first, then by Daichi to see if it was actually something that could be done. This one time after a client had wrote fantasy novel she wanted her display to be a huge dragon, it was a great idea, but that would push the marketing budget by a hell of a lot. The work was semi-easy majority of the time, and on top of that, he had amazing colleges well maybe semi-amazing is a better description.

Ok, decent probably fits better.-

Finally, he was at the office, of course before he got there he got shit from Emiko, and then his depressing thoughts ate him almost fully alive as he drove the 20-minute drive because of traffic. The office was the same as usual, Iwaizumi was yelling on the phone probably at the printers, Matsukawa and Hanamaki were in a cubical together, probably fucking around, because when were they ever actually doing work.

He waved over at Iwaizumi but he didn't notice he was too busy yelling into the receiver, he just smiled it off and walked down the corridor and into the sales department. Ennoshita was on the phone, with a fake smile as he 'happily' talked to whoever was on the other line.

Yachi was at her desk frantically digging through paperwork.

While Lev was playing tetras, he bit his bottom lip as he concentrated on the game, Daichi rolled his eyes, "Lev no video games, we already talked about this."

Lev had just transferred from the marketing department to the sales team because Tsukishima just simply didn't want to deal with him. He was a good kid, but annoying to most, and he had no filter whatsoever.

Lev slumped into his chair, "Well there's nothing to do, boss! At least I don't watch "adult films" like Makki and Mattsun" He murmured the last part just loud enough for Daichi to hear, Daichi just blinked at the comment.

He wasn't completely shocked, he knew Hanamaki and Matsukawa were horndogs but he didn't expect to hear it from Lev out of all people.

Daichi grabbed the handle to the door of his personal office, "Um... Just keep playing then, but if I catch you watching porn I won't hesitate to fire you."

Lev just smiled, "Aye, aye, sir!"

Daichi sighed as he plopped down on his chair, he looked around his office, it was pretty boring.

The only personal touch was the photo of Kento he had on his desk. He didn't complain though, he loved that picture.

There were a couple of emails in his inbox that he answered with ease. In the middle of answering the third one, there was a knock on his door.

He jumped suddenly, then sighed he was supposed to be unwound not on edge,

"Come in."

It was Iwaizumi, with a styrofoam cup in his hand, Daichi let out a sigh of relief, "Oh it's just you, for a second I thought it was someone important," he joked. Iwaizumi chuckled and sat down in the seat in front of Daichi's desk, "Ouch. Anyways I brought you coffee."

He set the cup down and then dug into his pocket, pulling out sugars and creams, "I don't know how you like your coffee so here." Daichi scooted the coffee over closer to himself, and then the sugars and creams next, "Thanks, but this probably isn't going to do it for me." Iwaizumi raised one of his brows,

"Is it that bad?"

Daichi dumped two creamers into his coffee and one sugar, "Yeah, she wants to take Kento."

Iwaizumi blinked, "What a shitty ass bitch."

Daichi glared up at Iwaizumi, and he just shrugged, "I'm just speaking the truth Daichi, that lady is truly a snake, we-"

Daichi cut him off with an eye roll, "I know, you all told me that there was something wrong with her at the start. None of you liked her, and now it turns out you guys were right. How fucking ironic."

Iwaizumi sighed, "Look I'm not trying to say 'I told you so' but I told you so-" Daichi chuckled and shook his head, "God Iwaizumi, you suck ass at giving advice."

Iwaizumi snorted, "I know, I know, But I'm probably better than Tsukishima and Kuroo."

Daichi sighed, "Well that much is probably true, but I think Tsukishima just doesn't care enough to give anybody advice." Iwaizumi just laughed, "Yeah you're probably right."

Daichi took a drink of the coffee, then sighed because just as he predicted it didn't give him the filling sensation he needed. He didn't know how'd he get the filling sensation, but he knew this crappy ass coffee wasn't going to do the job.

"So uh, what do Matsukawa and Hanamaki actually do at the office all day?"

Iwaizumi shrugged, "They get work done on time and do what needs to be done I never really questioned them... Why?"

"Lev says they watch porn."

Iwaizumi choked a laugh, "I wouldn't be surprised, to be honest. But seriously you heard that from Lev?"

Daichi shared a laugh with Iwaizumi, "Yeah that's what I thought. Why couldn't it have been like Taketora, or like Kuroo, not Lev." Iwaizumi shook his head as he continued to wheeze, "Poor Lev. You think he walked in on them or something?"

Daichi just covered his mouth as he laughed, "Oh my god."

Daichi was speeding down the street as he squeezed the stirring wheel tight.

He was late.

It wasn't his fault Ukai suddenly called him into a meeting, but it was a good meeting nonetheless because he was getting a raise. Not a gigantic one, but hey, a raise is a raise.

He glared into the re-view mirror in the back of the old Toyota, a present sat on the back seat, it was in a big blue bag, with white tissue paper sticking out prettily.

He hoped Emiko wasn't mad at him still, despite their argument this morning. In all honestly, she probably would be mad though, that's why he stopped to get her chocolates even though it made him even later. She got mad over every little thing now, and the only things that fixed it were chocolate and sex, and well sometimes she just wanted to be alone, but in honesty, he hated those times.

He speedily pulled into the driveway and put the gear in park. He pulled the key out of the ignition and grabbed the bag from the back in one quick motion. Then he grabbed the chocolates from the passenger seat and slide out of the car gracelessly. Closing the door with his hip, he didn't even the lock car, instead, he jogged to the door. He opened the door with ease, Emiko had a bad habit of not locking it. He set the bag down quietly by the door and then closed the door, making sure he didn't make a sound. The kitchen light was on, and the curtains in the living room were drawn back, letting in natural sunlight.

He smiled to himself when a plan popped into his head.

Still holding the chocolates, he tiptoed down the hallways, dress shoes still on. He was right by the master bedroom when he heard a knocking sound.

He wasn't surprised Kento often liked playing in there.

He quietly pushed open the cracked open door, then froze.

He didn't make a sound, he just stood there in pure shock.

Emiko was on her back arching it while her head lolled back and her chin pointed to the ceiling, hands pinned up above her head. Then a tall male, with fluffy soft caramel hair was thrusting into her. On his knees and her legs wrapped around his waist, his hands tightly gripping her wrist, making sure that they stay in place. While he licked and bit her overexposed neck. The knocking came from the bed frame that was hitting the wall, but faster now, it was louder and echoed in Daichi's head.

He couldn't move though, he couldn't form words nor turn his head in the other direction; so he just watched.

The male let one hand wander from her wrist. His long slender fingers slowly trailed up her side and then cuffed one of her breasts, squeezing her nipple harshly. The rocking of the frame got faster and louder, but now not only did he hear the banging of the frame he heard her pleasure-filled moans.

Her moans varied from fast breathy "yes"'s, and "A-Ahh~"'s

Then there was a loud ring in his ear, that blocked out the loud moans but not entirely.

So now a loud ring,

faint moans,

and the knocking of the bedframe hitting the wall topped it off, being the loudest out of all the other noises.

Suddenly the knocking got louder and louder, and even faster. Then there was a scream as Emiko reached her climax.

Daichi snapped his eyes open, his mouth and throat were dry, and he was drenched in sweat.

He panted as he looked around the room, he was still in his office; but he could still hear the pounding of the bedframe. He flinched when he heard his name being called,

"C'mon Daichi! Are you going to let me in or not?!"

The knocking was the person on the other side of his office door, they knocked loudly and continuously, just like how the bedframe rocked that night.

Only one person in the office knocked like that, Tsukishima, he was probably the most impatient son of bitch Daichi has ever met.

"Come in."

His voice was rougher than usual, he just sighed and hoped it would go unnoticed. The door opened and sure enough, Tsukishima walked through, his tall pale slender figure, he had his pale blonde hair brushed the same as always, and like usual he wore one of those annoyingly thick turtlenecks, it made Daichi hot and bothered just looking at him.

Iwaizumi says he wears them because Kuroo leaves hickeys all over his neck, but Tsukishima says he wears them because he doesn't like showing off his body. He could see both sides, and of course, he didn't really care which one it really was, it just annoyed him that he was always wearing them.

Tsukishima threw/dropped a stack of paperwork down on his desk as he plopped down in the seat in front of his desk.

"What the hell, I've been knocking for a full 3 minutes."

Daichi looked down at the paperwork and then up at Tsukishima, "Sorry, I dozed off."

Tsukishima rolled his eyes and slouched into the chair, "Of course you did. You're always fucking asleep. I know I'm not above you in any way, but you should really do your job better."

Daichi huffed, "Look. I'm going through shit as you know, I'm really fucking trying, ok? All I ask is that you don't fucking attack me like she does!"

Tsukishima got up and placed both hands on the desk to support his weight, leaning closer and putting his face into Daichi's then he whispered, "I'm fucking aware your shitty wife cheated on you, but that's not an excuse to not take care of yourself. So you need to go home, get real fucking sleep, and then come back here when you aren't half dead."

Daichi leaned back in his chair, "Since when did you care about my well-being?"

Tsukishima sat back down, "Since it made my job harder."

Daichi smiled at that answer, it's not like Tsukishima actually cared, because who would?

"Ok, well what is this?"

Tsukishima sighed and pushed up his glasses, "It's the display for the new client, which is almost done with the editorial stage so I thought I'd run these by you in advance." Daichi picked up the papers but he couldn't really concentrate on them, he found himself reading the same line over, and over. He just sighed and dropped them back on the desk, "Yeah I'll check it out later."

Tsukishima got up from his seat and walked to the door, he turned the doorknob and swung the door open, "Whatever. Oh, and you should eat something. You're losing an unhealthy amount of weight, and it's making you look horrible."

He walked out the door before Daichi could respond, closing it with a light slam.

Tsukishima was right, Daichi was losing an unhealthy amount of weight. First of all, he wasn't eating properly, it's not like he was intentionally starving himself, he just simply wasn't hungry.

Daichi has always been a healthy eater, always making sure he got enough protein and nutrients, but now his broad strong shoulders sagged, slowly losing the muscle they once had. His biceps got thinner, and his abs faded, the only thing that kept muscle were his legs, but even those slowly started to get thinner.

He sighed, he should really eat and go back to the gym.

Even if he felt like he could break into tears at any moment, maybe working out would ease the pain and take his mind off of things.

The only way to find out is to try.

He looked at the clock on the wall because he forgot his wristwatch at home. It was 10:00 and he got here at 8:30, the time was going by painfully slow. Staring at the empty styrofoam cup on his desk he glared at it, then picked it up and tossed it into the trash under his desk. Daichi pulled his second desk drawer open and dug around. His hand touched something cold and smooth, a small smile formed on his lips as he pulled out the tin flask.

Walking down the surprisingly quiet corridor, he stepped into the breakroom. It was pretty big, it had a white fridge and stove, then a Microwave and coffee maker that sat on the small amount of counter they had. There was a T.V. that was currently off, and one of those foldable white tables and plastic chairs, Then there were two huge bean bags in the corner that Mattsun and Makki dropped off because apparently, they didn't have room for them in their apartment anymore.

Matsukawa and Hanamaki were sitting on the beanbags as usual on their phones quietly talking to each other and snickering. Keishin Ukai (Who just goes by Ukai), sat at the table, with his sloppy suit and a cigarette limply resting on his lips as he read the paper. Lev was pacing around the room as he listened to whoever he was on the phone with.

Daichi didn't feel like making small talk so he went straight to the coffee maker, adding a new filter and coffee grounds he closed it and put a styrofoam cup underneath it. Pushing the button to turn it on he stared at it impatiently.

Then the door flung open dramatically and a familiar deep but confident voice filled the room, "Hey ladies~"

Daichi rolled his eyes and quietly chuckled at Kuroo's dramatic but not unexpected entrance.

Kuroo's smile widened when he saw Daichi by the coffee maker, "Hey Dai! It's been a while, I haven't seen you sense-"

"Yesterday, you haven't seen me since yesterday."

Kuroo huffed and opened the fridge, "Well it really feels longer."

Kuroo grabbed a water bottle then looked Daichi up and down, "Wow, you look horrible."

Daichi gave him a bitter smile, "Gee thanks."

Kuroo patted his shoulders, "No problem buddy."

He walked to the door and before he stepped out he turned back around to face Daichi, "Hey, how about Me, you, Tsukki, and Iwaizumi go to lunch at noon?"

Daichi enjoyed hanging out with all of them, he really did, but he just wasn't in the mood. "I don't know Kuroo."

"Alrighty! It's settled, I'll pick you up at your office at noon, See ya then!" He turned on his heel and walked out.

What a headache.

He huffed and picked up the coffee, and a handful of creamers and sugars, then walked back to his office. Two creamers and one sugar got added in, then he picked up the flask, and poured the whiskey in until the liquid reached the rim of the flimsy cup. He took a sip and then hummed in satisfaction, that hit the spot.

For the next two hours he finished answering the emails, then called Tsukishima and gave him the 'ok' to call a photographer for the display. He had a long conversation with Ennoshita that was struggling with a store owner.  By noon he was drinking straight whiskey from his flask. A couple seconds after he shoved the flask back into the drawer there was a knock on his door.

Then Kuroo bursts in, without waiting for a response, Tsukishima followed in afterwards. "Hey are you ready?"

Daichi got up from his chair, "Yeah, as ready as I'll ever be."

They walked down the corridor as Kuroo had his arm wrapped around his shoulder blabbing about how he could really go for some sake and takoyaki, even though that wasn't a complete meal. Iwaizumi was on the phone as usual as they approached him. He suddenly slammed the phones down, and grabbed his blazer that hung on the back of his chair, "Let's go."

They settled for a restaurant that they went to occasionally. It was a hole in the wall, but a nice hole in the wall. There was a nice soft yellow glow, that matched the nice red, brown, gold interior colors.

A waitress came and gave them one of the dark wood tables, that had five matching chairs circled around it. Daichi had Kuroo to his right, and Iwaizumi sat on his left, on Iwaizumi's left there was the empty chair, and to the left of the empty chair Tsukishima sat, next to Kuroo.

Kuroo immediately ordered chilled sake and takoyaki for an appetizer.

Daichi stared at the menu he had already became familiar with.

He wasn't really hungry but if he didn't force himself to eat he'd have to hear their shit. So he scanned the menu while Iwaizumi poured all his stress and thoughts out to them all, it just went in one ear at out the other. He nodded occasionally for a more realistic look.

He settled on beef curry, it was simple and cheap.

Then the door of the restaurant burst open and there was a loud and annoying voice, "Listen Mr. Perfect, can you stop being difficult for one damn second and just text me what you want?!"

It was a guy, tall and slender, he had perfect brown hair that swooped perfectly over his chocolate eyes. He wore shorter than necessary tight black shorts, with a white tee that fit him just right and to match a pair of bulky white sneakers.

He strode to the bar that was right by Daichi's table with the phone pinched in between his shoulder and his ear. He leaned against it and purposefully stuck his ass into view as he rested his right leg on one of the stools. He ran his fingers through his hair, "Thanks 'Kaashi your such a doll! See ya soon!!"

Iwaizumi groaned loudly, "And just when I thought I was going to get peace and quiet this asshole walks in." Said asshole turned around, obviously hearing Iwaizumi's remark he glares at them,

"Oh? Am I bothering you?"

He stepped up to the chair that was in between Tsukishima and Iwaizumi. Iwaizumi rolled his eyes, "You heard what I said. So you know damn well you are." Kuroo just raised his brows in amusement as he watched the scene in front of him. The male leaned in, now closer to Iwaizumi's face he whispered, "Well what are you going to do about it."

Iwaizumi got up from his seat and shot the man a dirty look, "I'd gladly wipe that smug look off your stupid face."

The male smiled teasingly, "Ooh someone's sadistic! It suits you~"

Then the bartender behind the bar spoke up, "Mr. Oikawa your order is ready." The bartender set a bag down that had multiple take-out boxes. Mr. Oikawa kept his smile and then grabbed the bag, "Thanks Luv."

He shot a grin and wink in Iwaizumi's direction then walked to the doors, swinging them open dramatically just like before.

Kuroo picked up his glass, "That guy was kinda hot."

Tsukishima elbowed his side, "No, he was an annoying slut."

Daichi set down the menu he pretended to be so interested in even though he already picked out what he wanted, "I think you guys are too judgmental."

Tsukishima rolled his eyes, "You saw him, half of his ass was hanging out." Kuroo smiled, "That guy didn't even have an ass, but what he did have was some pretty nice legs" Tsukishima elbowed him once more, this time harder. Iwaizumi plopped down, "His legs were ok, but his voice was deafening." Kuroo laughed "That it was. He seemed into you though, you should have asked for his number."

Iwaizumi laughed and shook his head, "I don't know how many times I have to tell you dating isn't my thing."

Kuroo set his glass down after a sip, "Who said you guys have to date? He could just be a fuck buddy, you know. Like when's the last time you had sex?"

Iwaizumi shrugged, "I don't know, some months ago."

Kuroo laughed tauntingly, "That's my point. I got some just this morning"

Tsukishima elbowed him again, in the stomach this time, it made Kuroo cringe from the pain. He recovered quickly, and then looked at Daichi, "Ok well what'd you think about that guy?"

Daichi blinked, "Why does it matter what I think?" Kuroo picked up his glass again, "Because we need to find you someone else. I need to know your type before I can set you up with anyone."

Daichi shook his head, "I'm fine with being single. Also, I'm sure not many people will like the fact that I have a kid."

Kuroo smiled, "No, a lot of people are into fine man like you with your incredibly cute kid."

Daichi deadpanned, "Yeah, pedophiles."

Kuroo blinked and slowly took a sip of his sake, "I, uh didn't mean it like that-"

The waitress interrupted their conversation to take their orders. Taking their menu's back she bowed and dismissed herself. Kuroo entwined his fingers together under his chin and smiled at Daichi, "Ok so spill it, what's your type?"

Daichi sighed, "I don't need to date nor do I need hook-ups... I-I just need to win the custody battle-" He was cute off short by Kuroo,

"What? What custody battle?"

Daichi wanted to sob and cry into someone's shoulder, anybody's shoulder...

"Um she wants to take Kento."

Tsukishima's eyes widened, and Kuroo scoffed, "Of course that bitch does! Why though? She doesn't even like him."

Daichi paused for a second then registered the words that just came out of Kuroo's mouth, "What do you mean?"

Tsukishima turned to Kuroo, glaring at him, hoping that he wasn't going to start any unnecessary shit.

Kuroo ignored the glare, "I mean do you see the way she looks at him?"

Iwaizumi nodded, "Yeah so what, she lovingly looks at her son, that's what mom's do, idiot."

Kuroo shook his head, "Loving look my ass. She looks at him the same way my mom looked at me."

Daichi sat there in silence trying to piece the puzzle together, but it seemed like he was missing an important part of information.

Tsukishima blankly stared at the table, "But um... You and your mom didn't have the best of relationships."

Kuroo nodded and crossed his arms over his broad chest, "My point exactly."

Daichi looked up, "How long did it take you to conclude this?"

Kuroo shrugged his shoulder and reached for the bottle of sake to pour more in his glass but Tsukishima slapped his hand away, "You've had enough for now." Kuroo huffed and rubbed his hand, "When Kento was first born really."

Daichi's hands balled into fists under the table, "So you think my wife is abusing my son and you're just now telling me?"

The waitress came again, with a huge tray she balanced in her palm that held their plates. She set each plate down in front of the person whom ordered it, and then smiled, "Is there something else that I can get for you lovely men?" Tsukishima shook his head and flicked his wrist dismissively, "No that will be all, Thank you." The waitress smiled, "Ok, well I'll check up on you guys in a bit. Enjoy!" She walked away, and then Daichi went back to glaring and Kuroo who had already broken apart his chopsticks.

Kuroo looked up and realized the murderous glare, "What?" Iwaizumi shook his head at Kuroo's ignorance.

Kuroo cleared his throat and then came to the realization, "Ohhh. Um I didn't think it really mattered."

Daichi blinked, "My son that could be getting abused doesn't matter? Are you serious Kuroo?!"

Notes:

📰 Author's Note: Off the bat we can see how mentally abusive Daichi's and Emiko's relationship is. It starts off with the intrusive thoughts Daichi has during his breakdown in his driveway, they aren't his thoughts they're Emiko's. This really shows that the things you say will stick with a person and can effect them significantly. If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, or in an abusive situation, leaving them or the situation is the best option; I hope you all stay safe!

You may also see Daichi's inability to cope with the situation he's in. In some situations Daichi wants to get physical and others he wants to breakdown. It's completely obvious that Daichi's emotionally unstable, there are many reasons that could lead to this. The most clear reason is that this is a first time experience, it's been hinted that Daichi hasn't been in an experience this traumatic; therefore he's clueless onto how to react to the situation. He's lost and has no clue on what to do, this is another reason for his unexpected breakdowns.

Daichi's dream scene wasn't there just to fill in the reader (you) in on what's happening it's there because it shows how much that memory actually haunts Daichi. Research shows that dreaming a memory is sort of the same as reviewing a movie scene, that the brain is trying to process the memory. It's true that Daichi doesn't want to believe it, doesn't want to acknowledge the truth, but his brain, his dreams are making sure he does the opposite of what he wants to.
