Chapter Text
As soon as I heard that stupid rocket go off, I grabbed him. I grabbed him and ran like my life depended on it, and it did. I barely made it in time, it was almost too late. The rocket was dropped to the ground as I grabbed him and ran toward the forest. I couldn't see my family's faces as I turned and darted away from the thing.
I could barely hear anything the way my head was pounding. I dove into a hiding spot once I got far enough away and tried to calm down Beau. He was distraught but quiet taking small huffs of breaths. I'm sorry, he signed I didn't mean to. He was shaking and on the verge of crying. I just hugged him and whispered as quietly as I could, “ I'm so happy I didn't lose you”. As a few minutes passed of just hugging each other and calming each other down.
As the thumping in my head finally broke, I heard the chirping of birds and the silence of the forest. I wonder if that was the last time I would see my family other than Beau.
