A calculated risk

Summary:

Short and inspired by a lil story a told by a cool teacher of mine.

Work Text:

Leaning into his engineering desk, a teenage Dexter worked on a round device, about the size of a large plate, occasionally reaching out to the tool box which sat by his side. DeeDee was out with her friends so it was a serene day in the lab. And the redhead cherished days like these. Of course he loved his older sister but he loved just as much to be able to rest in his secret laboratory without having to prevent his airhead sibling from blowing shit up every two minutes.

So, he had taken the day to be as lost in his projects as one could be.

Until… What's this? A shadowy figure silently slithered through the lab, heading straight to the young genius' location. The intruder slowly, but intently, approached the redhead from behind - unnoticed, thanks to Dexter's abstraction - and just then... Sudden as a snake's attack ... Lounged into the other's neck, just behind the ear.

"Eeeeek!" Exclaimed the redhead, reflexively elbowing  the source of the sudden attack with all of his force.

"OUCH!" The other fell to the ground with a sound "thud".

"Mandark!" Dexter looked at his former enemy, who clutched his own hurting nose. "Oh, crap! I'm sorry!"

"Damn, Dexter, that's no way to respond to demonstrations of affection." Whimpered the other teen, still on the ground.

"Well, you scared me! And I've told you not to do this! You know I'm sensitive around the neck."

"The risk I took was calculated." Said the brunette as he got up. "But man, am I bad at Math." He scrunched his nose, which still tingled. Dexter snorted at that.

"No, you're not." Said the shorter of them taking the other's face in his hands, looking more closely as to certify that there was no real injury. While doing so, Dexter didn't stop himself from taking a moment to stare into his boyfriend's dark brown eyes.

"So…" Spoke the taller teen, feeling quite a growing tension in the air "Kiss it better?"

"Of course…" The other smiled, before leaning in.
