Work Text:

She is unlike any sun or moon. Her . Her beachy blonde hair that gleams in the sun, her surfboard that seems like it's been used a million times, and the way she completely relaxes Eva just by being in her vicinity. She had no idea how some surfer girl from British Columbia could soothe the beast within her, but she did every time.

They had spent a lot of time together. When Bridgette tried on Eva's shorts because "she thought they looked pretty," or when Bridgette was on the verge of falling down the cliff when filming for that episode came to a halt and Eva saved her from certain death. No one has ever done anything like that for either of them.

-•-•-

On the beach, the moon shines brightly like a thousand suns, with waves crashing to the beat of their breathing. She told Eva it would just be a walk along the coast, but it meant so much more to the ravenette. She's not sure why, but every second she spends with Bridgette makes her feel more vulnerable. Their hands are so close together that they could be embracing each other, and the space between their lips feels as if it could be merged in a matter of seconds.

“Hey Eva?” Bridgette's voice is sweet, trustworthy, and beautiful, like a chorus of angels or melting honey. “Do you think we could-“

Eva took her hand and continued going along the shore, hiding her face, before she could finish. “Yeah.”

“Oh I- Great. That’s… This is something I haven't done in a long time. Never let go, alright?” Bridgette's heart softened as she grasped Eva's calloused and muscular hands with her chilly and bony hands. They fit together like puzzle pieces; they were a perfect match. "I love you, Eva. Like, a lot.

“I- Of course I do. "I... love you as well." The ravenette hesitated to say it, as if she wasn't sure if she should. “I love you. I love-“

Eva's pulse skipped a beat as their lips locked together. She didn't know what she was feeling, but she was physically different. Eva's uncertainty could be seen a mile away, her own dry lips on the blonde's soft ones, the waves retreating just in time. They couldn't open their eyes or halt the moment when they split up.

They kissed once more, completely enveloping one other. Eva's knees trembled as she supported Bridgette, impotent in the face of her devotion. Eva's panic faded in an instant, and Bridgette's grin remained constant. After a long embrace, the rising sun kissed the two, and the waves screamed once more.

“Chris would never let… this happen, you know.”

“I know, Eve. Just don’t tell him?”

“Yeah, alright. I love you.” This time Eva knew she should say it. They continue to walk along the coast, calm, cool, and collect-

"Hey, Barbie and Ken! Chris needs you back so we can start the… What the fuck…?” Duncan yells as he stumbles over to them, seeing their joined hands. “Are you guys-“

“Shit uh- Hey hammerhead! You better not tell anyone or your body won’t be found.” Eva races over to him, leaving Bridgette stunned on the beach. She lifts Duncan up by the collar.

“Fuck! Okay, okay! Damn…” Duncan ran and Bridgette put her hand on Eva’s shoulder.

“See you, my love. Remember, I won’t vote for you.”

“Promise?”

“Promise.”

Who knew that wouldn’t be kept. Well, in Eva’s mind at least.
